Bei der Reifenherstellung wird die Bandage aus Materialstreifen, welche die in eine unvulkanisierte Kautschukmischung eingebetteten Korde enthalten, auf den Gürtel durch spiraliges Wickeln bzw. Spulen aufgebracht. Bei der Vulkanisation des Rohreifens in einer Heizform wird der Reifen unter einer gewissen Dehnung in die Form hineingepresst, wobei sich der Reifen üblicherweise im Schulterbereich um ca. 1% bis 2% und im Mittelbereich um ca. 3% bis 4% im Vergleich zum unvulkanisierten Rohling dehnt.
