Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of oxide-based organometallic frameworks of the type Zn 4 OB x with x ≤ 3. Metal-organic frameworks (MOF) with specific pores or pore distributions and large specific surfaces are as potential gas storage materials in the use of alternative energies and as natural gas storage materials of interest. MOFs can also be used in chemical-technical catalysis and as analytical separation material in the form of the stationary phase for gas and liquid chromatography or as a sensitive layer in sensor technology.
- – 7,26 g (43,7 mmol) Terephthalsäure (H2BDC) pro kg N,N-Diethylformamid (DEF)
- – 34,16 g Zn(NO3)2 4 H2O pro kg DEF (130,7 mmol)
- – Ansatzgröße: 5,65 kg DEF (6,21 Liter)
- – Reaktionsführung: 130°C, Rückfluss
- – Reaktionszeit: 4 h
- – Filtrieren, Waschen mit Aceton, Trocknung im N2-Strom, Desolvatation im Vakuum

- 34.16 g Zn (NO 3 ) 2 4 H 2 O per kg DEF (130.7 mmol)

These Method is based on the slow hydrolytic decomposition of the solvent DEF, which by release of diethylamine for deprotonation the carboxylic acid used leads. The central oxidation of the zinc oxide cluster is caused by decomposition of the also formed as a zinc source serving zinc nitrate hydrate. The In this decomposition released nitrogen oxides form by reaction with the solvent the carcinogenic N-nitrosodiethylamine [2]. The zinc nitrate hydrate must be used in excess be there during it the entire reaction period is necessary as a pH buffer.
Die direkte Zugabe der Base zur Reaktionslösung führt zu Produkten mit sehr stark herabgesetzten spezifischen Oberflächen [4][5].In the older literature [7] is also a method in which an organic base in the course of days in a solution of Zn (NO 3 ) 2 × H 2 O and H 2 BDC in N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) diffused , The direct addition of the base to the reaction solution leads to products with greatly reduced specific surface areas [4], [5].
The for the thermal method almost exclusively used solvents DEF is currently not large-scale is produced and is therefore only customary for fine chemicals To obtain prices. The solvent consumption thus represents the most important cost factor for a corresponding procedure represents.
Das bei thermischer Reaktionsführung anfallende, stark kanzerogene N-Nitrosodiethylamin stellt ein erhebliches, im technischen Maßstab kaum lösbares Entsorgungsproblem dar.at all previously used methods accumulate By-products (ammonium salts, formate) and unreacted zinc nitrate in the residuals. The resulting in thermal reaction, highly carcinogenic N-nitrosodiethylamine represents a considerable disposal problem which can hardly be solved on an industrial scale.
The Reuse or processing of a reaction solution used designed because of the high solvent use (eg 1 liter of DEF for 11 g MOF-5 in [3]) and the high boiling point of the solvent eligible formamides are problematic and costly.
Of the Invention is based on the object, a process for the preparation of oxide-based MOF (OMOF), which is the most economical and ecological reasonable production big Quantities OMOF with reproducibility of a consistently maximum specific surface allowed.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by reacting compounds of the Zn 4 OA 6 type , wherein the anion A is the acid radical of an acid having two or three donor atoms per molecule, with an acid having at least four donor atoms in the presence of non-aqueous solvents or dispersants ,
The inverse synthesis according to the invention differs from the known production processes in that the structural element forming the SBU (secundary building unit) of the OMOF is already predetermined with the compounds of the type Zn 4 OA 6 used .
Als Verbindungen des Typs Zn4OA6 werden Zn4OAc6 (Ac = Acetat, CH3COO–), Zn4O(HCOO–)6 und vorzugsweise Zn4OBz6 (Bz = Benzoat, C6H5COO–) eingesetzt.As compounds of the type Zn 4 OA 6 are Zn 4 OAc 6 (Ac = acetate, CH 3 COO - ), Zn 4 O (HCOO - ) 6 and preferably Zn 4 OBz 6 (Bz = benzoate, C 6 H 5 COO - ) used.
As acid with at least four donor atoms, which act as linkers, preferably aromatic di- or tri-carboxylic acids are used. Particularly suitable are terephthalic acid, ortho-phthalic acid, isophthalic acid, benzene tricarboxylic acid, benzene tribenzoic acid or mixtures of these acids. It is also possible to use the corresponding acid derivatives, eg. As salt, ester, amide or anhydride. Another variant consists in using the acids with at least four donor atoms mixed with neutral ligands.
When non-aqueous solvent or dispersants are preferably aprotonischpolare solution and Dispersants and in particular ketones or carboxylic acid amides or mixtures of ketones and carboxylic acid amides used.
The method according to the invention can be used for applying OMOF layers to surfaces. In this case, for example, a surface modified by methods known with carboxyl groups will react with a solution of Zn 4 OA 6 to immobilize the zinc oxo clusters. Alternately treating this surface with solutions of the acid having at least four donor atoms (linker solutions) and solutions of Zn 4 OA 6 results in controllable growth of the OMOF layer. In this case, different linker solutions can be used in the sequence.
The inventive method offers by the stoichiometric Sales as well as the variability and easy recoverability the solvent economical Advantages over the known method. By avoiding side reactions become unwanted inclusions in the porous Material avoided. In ecological Respects are in the conventional Avoid the resulting carcinogenic N-nitrosoamine.
Die Erfindung soll anhand der folgenden zwei Beispiele verdeutlicht werden: The Invention is illustrated by the following two examples become:

These were clear solutions the starting materials and the currently forming Precipitate filtered off, washed with fresh DEF and the usual for MOF structures Desolvation Procedure (Suspended in chloroform with multiple Renew the chloroform followed by drying in an oil pump vacuum at 200 ° C) subjected.
- 1. Execution of the reaction in suspension
- 2. Execution of the reaction by continuous extraction of the sparingly soluble acid in the reaction solution
Beide Ausführungen nehmen ca. 12 Stunden in Anspruch. Both versions take about 12 hours. When using absolutely anhydrous Acetone is the obtained product of pure MOF-5, otherwise it contains zinc benzoate, but which can be dissolved out with fresh acetone.
Die
Identifikation der erhaltenen Pulver erfolgte pulverdiffraktometrisch
(
The porosity of the material was detected with a specific surface area of> 500 m 2 / g.
The Preparation of zinc oxobenzoate is very easy by recrystallization according to [8] of zinc benzoate from acetone containing a minimum of water possible.
Due to the formation reaction of Zn 4 OBz 6 , the acid HBz accumulates in the solvent. It can be separated by distillation by distilling off the solvent in pure form and used again for the production of zinc benzoate. However, to avoid the relatively expensive distillation, it is preferable to reuse the residual solution to produce zinc benzoate. Zinc oxobenzoate is undecomposed soluble in DEF and acetone.
In analogously, the remaining in the inventive exchange reaction in the solvent benzoic acid be worked up.

The Coating was carried out on a gold-coated quartz disk.
Vor der Beschichtung wurde die Goldoberfläche mit Caroscher Säure (Gemisch Schwefelsäure/Wasserstoffperoxid) von Spuren organischer Verunreinigungen befreit. In front the coating was gold surface with Caro's acid (Mixture Sulfuric acid / hydrogen peroxide) freed from traces of organic contamination.
Of Furthermore, a pre-treatment of the surface with the so-called, already established SAM (Self-Assembled Monolayer) technique. This was the surface for one 24 h period of a 3 mM solution of 16-mercoptohexadecanoic acid in a 1: 1 methanol / chloroform mixture exposed. This leads to the formation of solid Au-S bonds, so that the entire surface is COOH-terminated is.
Vor jedem Wechseln der Lösung erfolgte ein Spülschritt mit reinem DEF.The so pretreated surface was now alternating with 10 mM solutions of zinc oxobenzoate and terephthalic acid treated in DEF. The quartz disk was for this purpose in a glove box under argon atmosphere immersed in the respective solutions. Before changing the solution a rinsing step took place with pure DEF.

Die theoretisch maximale Abmessung beträgt somit 100·2·12,83 Å entsprechend 0,26 μm.The AFM image shows a tightly coated with microcrystallite Surface. On the basis of the recording leaves the maximum crystallite size is about Estimate 0.2 μm. at Each dive should have the dimension of crystallites around 2 pores (Linker + SBU) in each spatial direction. The theoretical maximum Dimension is thus 100 x 2 x 12.83 Å 0.26 μm.
