Zum anderen bestimmt aber auch der Verschleiß der Kugelbahnen und der Kugeln in den Mutter die Vorspannung zwischen den Mutter. Die Vorspannung unterliegt so starken Schwankungen, die bei Unter schreitung einer Mindestspannung zum Standzeitende des Kugelrollspindelsystems führen. Um für den Verschleiß einen Vorspannungsvorhalt zu gewährleisten, wir i. a. eine neue Spindel mit einem Vorspannungsüberschuß eingestellt, der den zwei- bis dreifachen Betrag der Vorspannung beträgt, die für eine brauchbare Steifigkeit einzustellen ist. Da die Lebensdauer einer Kugelrollspindel mit der dritten Potenz der Vorspannung abnimmt, ist dieser Vorhalt extrem nachteilig für die Standzeitdauer.
