Binden, auch in Form von Fertigverbänden, werden beispielsweise zur Fixierung von Wundauflagen verwendet. Preiswerte Binden werden um das zu verbindende Körperteil gewickelt und anschließend mit einem Pflasterstreifen fixiert, damit die Binde an der gewünschten Korperstelle fest hält. Höherwertige, wiederverwendbare Binden werden durch so genannte Schwiegermütter oder Sicherheitsnadeln an den zu verbindenden Körperteilen fixiert. In den letzten Jahren ist es auch vereinzelt gängige Praxis geworden, Binden mit Klettverschlüssen am Patienten zu fixieren. Während bei den meisten Fertigverbanden, wie beispielsweise bei Claviculaverbänden heute schon Klettverschlüsse gefahrlos eingesetzt werden, da diese durch die stabilen Trägermaterialien den Nutzen der Anwender am besten erfullen, haben die Klettverschlüsse bei Binden jedoch derzeit den Nachteil, dass die Kletthaken beim Verschließen durch die Binde hindurch gedrückt werden und somit die Haut des Patienten verletzen können. Insbesondere im Bereich der Phlebologie sind die bisher bekannten Klettverschlüsse ungeeignet, da man dort sehr oft mit trockener, strapazierter oder pergamentartiger Altershaut konfrontiert wird, die sehr empfindlich und verletzbar ist.
