Abstract
Description
- - Polybenzimidazole (PBI) and phosphoric acid blend membranes with 5-6 phosphoric acid molecules per PBI repeating unit 1,2 . These membranes work very well at T> 100 ° C in the fuel cell, but at T <100 ° C, the phosphoric acid can be discharged from the membrane, which leads to conductivity reduction and corrosion problems.
- Phosphonated poly (phosphazenes) by reaction of brominated poly (bisphenoxyphosphazene) with t-butyllithium, followed by reaction with chlorophosphoric diphenyl ester and subsequent partial hydrolysis of the resulting phosphonic acid diphenyl ester to the free phosphonic acid 3 . A disadvantage of this reaction is that only a part of the lithiated sites reacts with the chlorophosphoric acid ester, and only a part of the phosphonic acid ester groups formed reacts to the free phosphonic acid grouping.
- - Phosphonated poly (ether sulfone) s from brominated poly (ether sulfones) by Michaelis Arbusov reaction 4 . A disadvantage of these polymers is that the phosphonic acid groups sit directly on the aromatic main chain, which causes a significant reduction in the proton conductivity, since the aryl main chain polymers are very rigid polymers, furthermore, only a limited number of phosphonic acid groups can be introduced into the aromatic main chain polymer with this method. , which leads to a large distance between the proton-conducting groups, which in turn causes a low proton conductivity.
In the case of sulfonated ionomers, it has been found that an arrangement of the sulfonic acid groups in the side chain leads to an increase in the proton conductivities at T> 100 ° C. compared with sulfonated ionomers having the sulfonic acid groups in the aromatic main chain. In one specific example, the H + conductivities of sulfonated PEEK and poly (carbonylphenoxy) phenylene ("Poly-X 2000") were compared at T = 120 ° C. 5 The poly-X 2000 polymer had T = 120 ° C has a much higher H + conductivity than the sPEEK A disadvantage of this polymer is the complicated production process and the high rigidity of the main and side chain of the polymer.
The object of the invention is to provide ionomers and ionomer membranes in which the ionogenic group sits on a flexible side chain, which leads to a significant increase in the H + conductivity of the ionomers. The task is also to develop methods to represent these polymeric H + conductors.

- 1a: das Basispolymer wird mittels metallorganischer Reaktion deprotoniert;
- 1b: das deprotonierte Polymer wird mit einer aliphatischen Halogenverbindung, die vorzugsweise das Halogenatom am einen Ende und eine nichtionische Vorstufe der ionogenen Gruppe am anderen Ende trägt, zur Reaktion gebracht, wobei das Halogen nucleophil ausgetauscht wird;

- 2a: das Basispolymer wird mittels metallorganischer Reaktion deprotoniert;

- 2c: die in den Seitenkette nucleophil austauschbare Halogene enthaltenden Polymere werden mit einer Verbindung zur Reaktion gebracht, die eine nucleophile Gruppe Nu und eine oder mehrere ionogene Gruppe(n) oder ihre nichtionische Form Y enthalten. Dabei werden die verbleibenden Halogene nucleophil ausgetauscht;

- 2b: the deprotonated polymer is reacted excessively with an aliphatic dihalogen compound or a mixture of different dihalogen compounds (different halogens and / or different chain lengths of the dihalogen compound (s) are possible), which preferably carries the halogen atoms at the ends of the molecule a part of the halogen atoms of the dihalogen compound (s) is nucleophilicly exchanged: Ar-Li + Hal - ((C (R 2 ) 2 ) x -Hal → Ar - ((C (R 2 ) 2 ) x -Hal
- 2c: the polymers containing nucleophilically exchangeable halogens in the side chain are reacted with a compound containing a nucleophilic group Nu and one or more ionogenic groups or their nonionic form Y. The remaining halogens are exchanged nucleophilically;
- 2d: the nonionic form of the ionic group is hydrolyzed, liberating the H + form of the cation exchanger moiety.

SO 2 Li) 2 (2 sulfinate groups per PSU repeat unit, sulfinate IEC = 3.4 meq SO 2 Li / g polymer) are dissolved in 17 g NMP. 2.7 mmol of meta-LiO 2 S-benzene-phosphonic acid dioctyl ester (prepared by lithiation of benzylphosphonic acid dioctyl ester with 10 N-BuLi under argon in THF solution and subsequent reaction with SO 2 ) and 0.4 mmol of 1,4-dichlorobenzene are added. Diiodobutane and with subsequent homogenization. Thereafter, the polymer solution is poured onto a substrate (glass or metal plate and / or tissue / nonwoven / microporous membrane). It is allowed to evaporate the solvent in an air-circulating or vacuum drying oven at an elevated temperature of 50 to 140 ° C. The sulfinate-S-alkylation of sulfinato-Benzolphosphonsäureesters and diiodobutane takes place with crosslinking of the membrane.-. After distilling off the solvent, the membrane is refluxed with HI, HBr or concentrated HCl to saponify the phosphonic acid ester to the corresponding phosphonic acid.
