Abstract
The method for the determining of the starting speed of an automatic stepped transmission entails taking into account the mass of the vehicle and the incline of the road. A higher starting speed for a starting process can then be used if the mass of the vehicle lies below a predetermined value, the vehicle is standing on an incline which does not exceed a predetermined or sensed threshold value, and the at-rest state of the vehicle lasts no longer than a predetermined period.
