Abstract
Pedestrian protection system has at least one impact force or deformation measurement sensor (3) on the outer skin (2) of the vehicle at a defined distance (8) from the outer skin that must be bridged by deformation when an object collides with the outer skin in order to activate the sensor device. A distance maintenance device (9) prevents foreign bodies being applied in the axis of the sensor separation. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting the impact of an object on a vehicle.
