Dem zugewiesenen Benutzer werden der Hauptplan sowie mindestens der Datensatz zu dem zugewiesenen Teilprojekt übermittelt. Der Hauptplan wird mit einer vorbestimmten Datentiefe übermittelt, die festlegt, welche Daten zu den nicht zugewiesenen Teilprojekten mit dem Hauptplan übermittelt werden. In einem nachfolgenden Schritt werden Daten zu dem zugewiesenen Teilprojekt empfangen, wobei die Daten Vorentwürfe und/oder Entwürfe zu dem Teilprojekt enthalten. Die Daten 32 beinhalten den Hauptplan in seiner aktuellen Fassung mit den Datensätzen zu benachbarten Teilprojekten sowie den aktuellen Datensatz zu dem zugewiesenen Teilprojekt. Die bearbeiteten Entwürfe werden von den Computern 24 bis 28 aus an einen Zentralrechner 34 gesendet. Die gesendeten Entwürfe enthalten hierbei Darstellungen der Entwürfe sowie einen Unterdatensatz mit Angaben zu den Entwürfen. Diese werden in dem Zentralrechner 34 zu einem neuen Datensatz für das bearbeitete Teilprojekt zusammengefaßt und führen zu einem ergänzten Hauptplan. Der auf dem Zentralrechner 34 zusammengestellte Datensatz wird dann als Datensatz 36 in der Datenbank 22 abgelegt. Zentralrechner 34 und Datenbank 22 sind in 2 zur besseren Übersicht getrennt voneinander dargestellt, können aber auf demselben Rechner ablaufen.
