Description
Feuchtmittel für Offsetdruck Die Erfindung betrifft ein Feuchtmittel für Offsetdruck.Fountain solution for offset printing The invention relates to a fountain solution for offset printing.
For some time now, efforts have been made to reduce those that occur in offset printing Eliminate difficulties caused by too little or too much moisture are and which also have the disadvantageous high room temperature or low humidity caused. The dampening solution, e.g. B. water, through a Cloth roller, which is located in front of the inking unit in the direction of rotation of the impression cylinder, applied directly to the printing cylinder. Procedures have also become known in which the dampening system works directly on the inking roller (German patent 678 543). In particular, dampening solutions are already used for the last-mentioned process which consist of water and glycerine, with certain buffer substances this dampening solution is given a certain acidity. Despite certain advantages This dampening solution compared to dampening with pure water, however, has this dampening or wetting agents for offset printing have a number of disadvantages. The resulting prints feel sticky. Therefore, the waiting times, especially with multi-color printing, Too long between two different colors until the prints are scratch-proof and smudge-proof are. In addition, there is a dependency on these glycerine-containing dampening solutions too high room temperatures and too low humidity.
According to the invention there is now a dampening solution for offset printing proposed that contains a content of d-sorbitol.
In German patent 573 605, relating to dry planographic printing, In addition to glycerine (and glycol), other polyalcohols are used as additives to printing inks mentioned. However, d-sorbitol is not mentioned in this publication, especially as it is d-sorbitol was not produced on an industrial scale until much later in Germany.
Laut R ö m p p , Chemielexikon, 2. According to R ö m p p, Chemielexikon, 2nd edition (1951), p. 1530, it is known to use sorbitol (identical to d-sorbitol) as a glycerine substitute, and indeed z. B. in hectograph masses, printing rollers, for making impermeable and supple of paper, etc.
This is hygroscopic, similar to glycerine, but it absorbs moisture slower and holds water more tenaciously. Hence the suggested dampening solution for offset printing based on d-sorbitol for constant moisture retention of the image-free areas of offset printing plates are particularly characteristic, insofar as than it is much more independent of extreme temperature and humidity conditions is available as a glycerine-containing dampening solution. In addition, d-sorbitol in solution is a Has a pH of 6.3, while glycerine reacts neutrally. The optimal p, 1 value of damp liquids in offset printing should be between 5 and 6. Furthermore is In contrast to the evaporation of aqueous solutions, d-sorbitol is not steam-volatile to glycerine.
The viscosity of d-sorbitol is much greater than that of glycerine. It is evident from this that, in terms of quantity, with lower proportions of d-sorbitol in the case of the proposed Fountain solution is to be expected as in the case of glycerine with the previously common fountain solutions.
It has also been found that the new dampening solution in cases penetration into the bearing points of the machine rolls, which cannot always be avoided the lubricant does not thicken (freeze up) unlike dampening solutions based on glycerine. It has also been found that when working with the invention Fountain solution the use of a stricter printing ink at extremely low room temperatures between 10 and 15 ° C is much less difficult than with dampening solutions glycerine-based is the case. The suppleness of the printing ink is ensured by the d-sorbitol increased.
Fountain solutions containing glycerine make it necessary to use the printing ink through a dosed addition of offset thinner to the desired degree of smoothness is brought. However, it must be taken into account that by stretching the Printing ink with the diluent has an unfavorable effect on the degree of tack of the same will. This additional correction of the printing color is necessary when using the invention Fountain solution no longer required.
Folgende Beispiele geben Zusammensetzungen des erfindungsgemäßen Feuchtmittels an.Finally, the d-sorbitol used according to the invention is significant cheaper than glycerine. The following examples give compositions of the dampening solution according to the invention.
Example 1 2 gramol d-sorbitol (in substance) or the equivalent amount of the commercially available liquid concentrate, 220 ccm of a 1 / ismolar Potassium biphosphate solution and 6 g phenol and a dye for coloring with added of distilled water mixed to 1 1 final volume. This solution gives an approach which is diluted in a ratio of 1: 3 with water to make a ready-to-use dampening solution can be. The addition of the buffer substance is chosen so that the finished dampening agent has a p11 value of about 5 to 6.
Example 2 1 gramole of d-sorbitol (in substance) or the equivalent amount of the commercially available liquid concentrate is 2.75 grams of glycerine, 220 ccm a 1 / ismolar potassium biphosphate solution and 6 g phenol and a dye for Staining mixed with the addition of distilled water to a final volume of 1 liter. This Approach is diluted in a ratio of 1: 3 with water and also gives an effective one Dampening solution. As can be seen, it is not necessary to use the glycerin completely excluded, but instead of glycerine, other polyhydric alcohols can also be used be used.
The particularly pronounced suitability of d-sorbitol is due to that this 0.5 or 1 mol of water of crystallization is able to bind and consequently is predestined as a dampening solution. It goes without saying that in certain cases The dampening solution can also be used in an undiluted state.
It should also be mentioned that when printing with the usual material rollers in the case of scumming (due to insufficient dampening with water) or of gray prints (due to excessive dampening with water) by adding the invention Fountain solution in the water tank resolved the above-mentioned difficulties immediately are. In the case of the well-known, glycerine-based moistening agent this is also possible, but with the restriction that the capillarity of the Cloth rollers through the glycerine is severely affected and the latter from time must be replaced at time. This replacement of the cloth rollers occurs when the dampening solution according to the invention is added.
