Description
The invention relates to a method for forming refractory reactive metals, in particular titanium, zirconium, niobium and tantalum, in which the Um'ormkraft is transmitted by sliding friction.
The reactive metals titanium, zirconium, niobium and tantalum have very unfavorable sliding properties. In frictional / wear stress and especially in friction associated with forming processes such as extrusion and drawing occur seizures and welds of the friction partners, unless sufficient separation and lubrication of the mating material / tool is ensured by a suitable combination of lubricant and lubricant carrier.
It is known that by anodic oxidation on the metals porous layers, mainly oxide layers are produced, which act as a lubricant carrier and for receiving lubricants such as stearates, beeswax, colloidal graphite, chlorinated paraffin or molybdenum disulfide serve (DD-WP231928). The disadvantage of oxide layers as a lubricant carrier is that, despite good adhesion, they are too thin to permit sufficient slip and adequate surface enlargement without sacrificing larger changes in shape. The oxide layers must therefore be renewed frequently.
In order to keep the wear stress of the layers low, the degree of deformation and the forming speed are chosen to be very low. Nevertheless, the oxide layers are to be renewed after one or at most two forming steps, which greatly affects the profitability of the entire transformation.
Another well-known method of process lubrication for the processing of titanium, zirconium, niobium and dumbbell by extrusion and drawing is the sheathing with copper. The jacket is either by spraying or packing of z. B. Preßbolzen made with copper sheet. In principle, thin layers are preferred because excessively thick supports cause wrinkling during forming and, after the metal protective layer has been removed, there are strongly longitudinal surfaces of the processed material. On the other hand, thin coats or thin sprayed layers entail the risk of rupture of the shell or peeling of the layer, thereby exposing the metallic surface of the processing material and making the welding with the tool unavoidable. Electrolytically applied, thin copper layers on titanium or tantalum wire generally have too low adhesive strength for the drawing, which can no longer be significantly improved even when using anodic or cathodic pretreatment or by subsequent diffusion annealing (DE-OS 3210304).
The known methods show that, on the one hand, without surface treatment and suitable lubrication, no pressing and pulling of these materials is possible and, on the other hand, the selection of optimum conditions for process lubrication still represents an unsatisfactorily solved problem.
The object of the invention is a substantial improvement in the transformation of refractory reactive metals, it should be increased by a surface treatment, the profitability of the forming and the surface quality of the formed materials are significantly improved.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
De,. De ,. The object of the invention is to develop a lubricant that is applied to the metals prior to the forming process, which is intended to prevent welding to the tool and, even after several forming steps, to be contained on the metal and at the same time to accommodate additional lubricants , ie also be lubricant carrier.
According to the invention the object is achieved in that on the workpieces of refractory reactive metals before the forming processes once an oxide layer composite is applied in the electrolyte under the action of plasma and subsequent high-speed cooling, which is used as a lubricant and / or lubricant carrier in the multiple transformation of the metals. The oxide layer composite is formed in an aqueous electrolyte consisting of acidic alkaline earth metal phosphate and / or acid phosphates of the metals to be formed to saturation at pulse voltages of 200 to 500 volts, a frequency of 100 to 300Hz at Elektrolyttbmperaturen 300-350K. The oxide layer composite consists of at least two species-specific oxide layers, which differ in thickness, crystallinity and porosity from one another so that there is a 2 μm thick, dense, crystalline oxide layer on the metal surface, on which one or more strongly porous, partially crystalline, native oxide layers lie. containing at least 40% X-ray amorphous oxide. These X-ray amorphous portions are distributed in the porous crystalline oxide matrix. Thanks to its large capillarity, the porous semi-crystalline oxide layer can also serve as a storage layer for the absorption of liquid lubricants.
Surprisingly, with the use according to the invention of oxide layer composites, it has been possible to provide a lubricant for all forming processes of refractory reactive metals which needs to be applied only once in a simple process. The advantageous effect of the inventive method is that the Oxidschichtverbund may be generated in any · 1 arbitrary shaped surface and a reliable separation workpiece tool is achieved even at high degrees of deformation by the combination of crystalline and amorphous species-specific oxides that allows for minimization of Tool wear and thus an increase in the service life of the forming tools at least five times. The advantageous effect of the method also consists in an improved surface quality and dimensional accuracy of the formed semi-finished product.
Furthermore, there is a significant increase in productivity, since nut 'surface treatment for several successive forming operations is necessary. The oxide layer is retained on the material surface.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to 3 examples.
A sheet of EMO-Titan 110 annealed 1 mm thick and 66 mm in diameter is oxidized once anodically in an aqueous electrolyte containing 40 g / l of calcium dihydrogen phosphate at 330K. A pulsed direct current with a frequency of 100Hz is used. The voltage peaks are 325 V, the initial current density 0.06 A / cm 2 . The film formation is terminated when the current density drops to a value of 10% of the initial value.
The water-rinsed and dried Ronde is pulled with the aid of a tool in one go to a spherical cap with a flange stabilizing flange for a ball joint, and calibrated without intermediate annealing twice in a closed mold. The diameter of the hemisphere is 32 mm with a drawing depth of 18 mm. The transition radius to the 11 mm wide mounting flange is 1 mm. The wrinkling is counteracted by an inflow bead of R = 5mm. Dar oxide layer composite as a lubricant certainly prevents tearing of the drawn part.
Titanium press studs with a diameter of 78 mm are provided with an oxide layer composite as in Example 1. Notwithstanding Example 1, an electrolyte is used which, except Ca (H 2 PO 4 ) 2, is still saturated with acidic titanium phosphates.
In addition, the bolts are given a boron nitride coating. The bolts are inductively heated to a pressing temperature of 933 K and pressed at this temperature on a hydrostatic extruder to wire with 12mm diameter. This corresponds to a pressing ratio of R = 42. The strand exit speed is 9m / min.
DieThe hydrostatic extruded titanium wire is then drawn in 13 forming stages to 0 7,0mm. The
