Description
Anwendungsgebiet der Erfindung «Field of application of the invention «
The invention relates to a bituminous mass of bitumen, filler and modifier and optionally conventional additives and their use.
DE-OS 3034 848, DE-OS 3000307 und PCT WO 86/06736).It is known to modify bitumens with non-thermoplastic and thermoplastic polymer components such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. Furthermore, the use of styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymers (SBS) 1 as commercially available, for example, under the name Cariflex TR, in various combinations such as SBS filler oil or bitumen SBS filler is known. The usual addition amounts of these polymers to the bitumen are 5-50% by weight and preferably more than 20% by weight. The aim of all these modification variants is the expansion of the plasticity range and / or the transfer of elastic properties to the bituminous compositions (see DE-OS 3034 848, DE-OS 3000307 and PCT WO 86/06736).
Ziel dar ErfindungAim of the invention
The aim of the invention is to provide bituminous masts with improved processing properties, as well as improved aging behavior, improved low-temperature behavior, reduced embrittlement tendency and other mechanical-physical advantages.
The invention has for its object to find a suitable mixing ratio of bitumen, filler and modifier, which gives a bituminous mass with the desired properties. It has now surprisingly been found that the effectiveness of serving as a modifier polymers in the bituminous binder of a bitumen-filler mixture can be significantly improved if one improves a combination of certain thermoplastic rubber types in a certain ratio as a modifier.
The invention accordingly provides a bituminous mass of bitumen, filler and modifier and optionally conventional additives, which is characterized in that it is used as a modifier linear styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS) having a styrene content of 25-40Gew .-% and a melt index of 1 to 15 (ASTM D 1238-65 T) and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) having a vinyl acetate content of 40 to 50Gew .-% and a melt index of 2 to 15 (DIN 53735), wherein the weight ratio of SBS to EVA is 2: 1 to 6: 1 and preferably 3: 1 to 4: 1.
The invention furthermore relates to the use of the bituminous composition according to the invention for the production of films, sheets, moldings, kittens, fillers, roofing and sealing materials and damping films. According to the invention, the bituminous composition contains at least 40% by weight and preferably at least 50% by weight of filler , The bitumen used is primary bitumen with a penetration value of more than 20 χ 10 "'mm and a softening point below 60 ° C.
The amount of modifier In the bituminous composition of the invention is 2-50Gew .-%, based on the bitumen, in particular 10-15Gew .-%.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the bituminous composition according to the invention consists of 14-50 parts by weight of bitumen, 0.8-20 parts by weight of SBS, 0.2-5 parts by weight of EVA and 60-65 parts by weight of mineral filler, in particular mica, limestone meal, slate meal and / or barite ,
The bituminous composition according to the invention leads to an improvement of the processing properties for the user. This is especially true for thick bitumen films due to their particular flexibility. Furthermore, the bituminous mass according to the invention has a relatively high softening point, which z. B. for the bubble-free melting of films, in particular when using IR emitters is advantageous, Daiüber addition, the inventive bituminous mass or the products produced therefrom such as films show improved aging behavior, d. H. a significant reduction in embrittlement. Also the low temperature behavior is improved, d. H. that, for example, produced from the bituminous composition according to the invention damping film (film for damping structure-borne noise and Entdröhnung of metal structures) a perfect adhesion to the substrate even at impact stress at low temperature. Finally, the tendency to exudation of oily components from the bituminous composition according to the invention or the products produced therefrom, especially at elevated temperatures, is significantly reduced. It is particularly surprising that the good properties of, for example, the films produced from the bituminous composition according to the invention are substantially maintained even at extreme fill levels with cheap fillers, so that from the bituminous composition of the invention extremely low-priced products such as films can be produced. The effectiveness of the modifier used according to the invention is based, on the one hand, on the selection of the specific SBS and EVA components and, on the other hand, on compliance with the stated quantitative ratio of these two components. It is quite surprising that in this way, in particular with regard to the usually excessive rigidity, the embrittlement on aging and the usually insufficient low-temperature flexibility of products of the prior art, in particular films, considerable improvements are achieved.
The bitumen contained in the bituminous material according to the invention is commercially available bitumen, as it is usually used for the abovementioned fields of application and is described in the literature (cf., for example, DE-OS 3300307, p.6, lines 3-14). In general (also see FIG. DIN 1995) is distillate bitumen (primary bitumen) with a penetration value of more than 20 x 1E "1 mm and a softening point below 60 0 C (DIN 1995), and preferably bitumen B 200 or B80. Even the components SBS and EVA serving as modifiers are commercially available products (see, for example, the above-mentioned products of the Cariflex TR series, which can be used according to the invention.) Of course, it should be noted that the SBS block copolymer used has the abovementioned stated styrene content and a low to medium molecular weight corresponding to a melt index of 1 to 15 and preferably about 6g / 10min (2U0 ° C, 5kg, ASTM D1238-65 T) and the EVA the indicated vinyl acetate content and an average molecular weight corresponding to a melt index of 2 to 15 and preferably about 5 g / 10 min (19O 0 C, 2.16 kg, DIN 53735) .It is important that the two modifier components in ei in a certain weight ratio. This weight ratio of SBS to EVA is 2: 1 to 6: 1 and preferably 3: 1 to 4: 1. Based on the bitumen, the modifier is present in total in an amount of 2-50% by weight, and more preferably 10-15% by weight.
The filler content of the bituminous composition according to the invention is generally at least 40% by weight and preferably at least 50% by weight. Accordingly, the filler content in practice is often 60-85% by weight, and more preferably 70-80% by weight. As fillers, all customary fillers for bitumen can be used. The stiffening effect, depending on the grain shape, is known to decrease in the order fibrillar, laminar, corpuscular. Are suitable in addition to the particularly cost-effective fillers such. As limestone, chalk or filter ash and slate, mica, quartz, microballoon and barite and glass fibers, rockwool or cellulosic fibers and others, depending on the desired consistency and specific weight of the bituminous mass alone or in combination can be used (see also the above specified patent applications).
The selection and combination of other customary additives or additives is not a problem for the skilled person and depends mainly on the respective intended application of the bituminous composition according to the invention. Examples of common additives are lubricants and similar processing aids, especially sticky or weichmacl end additives, additives for improving the thermal conductivity, the flame retardance, aging inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, biocides and color pigments.
In general, the proportion of such conventional additives as graphite, talc, hydrocarbon resins and polyolefins is not more than 20% by weight, and preferably from 5 to 10% by weight. Additives such as metal soaps, metal oxides, aging inhibitors and the like are rarely used in an amount of more than 3 wt%, and preferably in an amount of 0.5 to 2 wt%.
The preparation of the bituminous composition according to the invention also offers no special features and takes place in the manner known from the prior art. Usually, all components in an agitator are mixed intensively with one another at 200 ° C. at elevated temperatures. The bituminous mass obtained is then weiterervL depending on the intended use. arbaitet. To produce bitumen films, the mass is processed, for example, by means of a calendering mill or by means of other suitable technologies, such as doctoring, extruding, etc. The production and processing of the bituminous mass should not exceed one hour at temperatures up to 230 ° C.
A bituminous composition prepared in the above manner, which has been found to be very suitable especially for the production of damping films, consists of 14-50 parts by weight of bitumen (primary bitumen), preferably B 200 or B80, 8-20 weight parts SBS, 0.2 -5 parts by weight of EVA and 50-85 parts by weight of mineral filler, in particular lime flour, slate flour, G'immer and / or barite.
In the following the invention will be explained in more detail by way of examples, which illustrate the preferred use of bituminous according to the invention.
