The invention relates to an arrangement of diffraction gratings with light source and receiver.
The diffraction gratings can be arranged on flat supports or curved supports.
They can be designed both as a reflection diffraction grating and as a transmission phase grating.
The inventive arrangement of diffraction gratings is in Spektralg. In particular, they are applicable where the highest demands are placed on the spectral diffraction efficiency and, in the case of diffraction gratings on curved supports, on the imaging properties.
Charakteristik des bekannten Standes der TechnikCharacteristic of the known state of the art
Mechanically or infrequently divided diffraction gratings, as z. As described in the monograph of HC Hutley "Diffraction Gratings" Oxford 1Sd2 have found widespread use in spectroscopy and other fields of scientific instrumentation such grids consist of a lattice girder, usually glass or ceramic, a lattice profile forming layer , often resist or epoxy resin, and a mirroring layer, usually aluminum, gold or another metal, and optionally from a protective layer, such as magnesium fluoride or quartz.
Furthermore, grids are known according to DE-OS 3424133, which consist of a surface phase relief layer, which is applied to a support and in which the transmission diffraction orders are used. The just listed lattice types can, such. B. also described in the above monograph by Hutley, also be designed as an interference or mechanically divided concave or convex.
B. symmetrisch vom Rand her abgeblendetThe problem here is to achieve a good correction of the imaging powers over a certain wavelength range under the usual conditions by contributing from each surface element of the grating beams with the same diffraction efficiency for image formation. An improvement in the contrast of the resulting image is in principle since the work of Runge at the beginning of the century and in more detail by H. G. Beutler in the Journ. of Opt. Society of America 35, 311 (1945), wherein in the direction of dispersion of the lattice z. B. dimmed symmetrically from the edge
A realization of the dimming of a spectrometer along and across the grating dispersion direction is also known (W.R.
Hunter and R.U. Chaimson in Appl. Optics 18 (1979) 2398), wherein the dimming can be adjusted depending on the wavelength.
In this case, a great deal of effort is required with stepper motors.
Störend auf den spektroskopischen Gebrauch von Gittern wirken sich Anomalien, also tiefe Einschnitte oder steile Peaks, imDisturbing the spectroscopic use of lattices, anomalies, ie deep cuts or steep peaks, have an effect on the
Beugungseffektivitätsverlauf des Beugungsspektrums aus. «,Diffraction efficiency profile of the diffraction spectrum. "
Such variations in the efficiencies may be evoked by the disappearance of lattice diffraction orders due to grazing propagation parallel to the lattice girder, the coupling of energy into surface piasms, the coupling of energy in stratified wave modes in coated gratings, and the oscillation of resonator modes in relatively thick grating coating.
The fluctuations in the diffraction efficiency course falsify false spectral lines and must be reduced as far as possible. One way to reduce the influence of the anomalous flat surface gratings is described in US Pat. No. 3,942,873, which involves a bead-like thickening of the metallic layer on the short flank of the grating. This has the disadvantage that the grid profiles shown are difficult to copy. Another possibility for improving the diffraction efficiency distribution is the variation of the grating modulatory field over the grating surface according to DU-WP 204318, which leads to a reduction in the diffraction efficiency distribution, but for planitter while keeping the anomalies constant at a given frequency. However, the anomalies are not eliminated.
The aim of the invention is to minimize the spectral diffraction efficiency fluctuations of diffraction gratings that can be realized with as little effort as possible, and not to impair the ability to copy, and to improve the imaging performance in the case of slides on curved supports.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The invention has for its object to provide diffraction gratings, in which the diffraction efficiency fluctuations of diffraction gratings are reduced in a simple manner and while maintaining the copying capability and at the same time the imaging properties are improved in the case of grids on curved supports.
This object is achieved in an arrangement of diffraction gratings with light source and receiver, wherein the diffraction grating consisting of a grating profile forming layer are on plan beams or curved beams and are each provided with at least one dielectric layer, according to the invention solved in that at least one diffraction grating of Arrangement at least one dielectric layer over the grid surface has a varying optical layer thickness or a different profile shape in its lower and upper boundary surface.
It is advantageous if at least one dielectric layer of one of the diffraction gratings has a fh dispersion direction monotonically and linearly decreasing optical layer thickness.
When diffraction gratings with imaging properties are used, it is advantageous if at least one dielectric layer of one of the diffraction gratings has different optical layer thicknesses on preferred grating regions with different extents parallel and / or perpendicular to the dispersion direction than on the remaining region.
It is also advantageous if the dielectric layers of series-connected diffraction gratings have a different optical layer thickness from each other.
It has been found by investigations that in the case of diffraction gratings the position of the lattice anomalies in the spectrum is determined, for example, by the optical layer thickness of the dielectric layers, i. H. can be changed by the geometric layer thickness or the refractive index of these layers, or even by the shape of their grid profile. For example, changing the geometric layer thickness by 1 nm results in a shift of the longer-wave anomalies by 1 nm towards larger wells.
Den gleichen Effekt bewirkt eine Erhöhung des Brechungsindex der Schicht um Δη = 0,01.The same effect is achieved by increasing the refractive index of the layer by Δη = 0.01.
Hieraus ergibt sich die Lösung der Aufgabenstellung:This results in the solution of the task:
The optical layer thickness of the dielectric layer, or in the case of multiple dielectric layers, at least one dielectric layer is on a Toil of the grid z. B. arranged so that the anomalies in the diffraction efficiency is at a wavelength X 1 . On a second part of the grating, the dielectric layer has an optical layer thickness which results in the displacement of the anomaly to the wavelength X 2 in this region. Again on a third part of the grating corresponds to a further optical layer thickness, the position of the anomaly at λ 3 , etc. By averaging over all the diffraction efficiencies derived from the different grating parts, the anomaly weakening is obtained as the mean balancing efficiency. There is a leveling or smoothing of the anomaly. Likewise, all diffraction efficiencies associated with the optical layer thickness are also smoothed.
In the case of diffraction gratings on curved supports, the arrangement according to the invention simultaneously causes an increase in the imaging power due to the weakening of aberrations.
The arrangement according to the invention relates both to the transmission phase grating and to the reflection giver.

Fig. 1 illustrates a reflection diffraction grating, for example, the dimension 100x 100mm 2 , consisting of a plane glass substrate 1, a arranged thereon, a blazed grating profile 5 forming resist layer 2, a metallic reflective layer 3 made of Al, z. B. the thickness of 100nm and a final dielectric layer 4 of MgF 2 , which also serves as a protective layer.
Dabei repräsentiert die durchgezogene Kurve den spektralenAccording to the invention, the dielectric layer 4 has a linearly decreasing geometric layer thickness from a grating edge point L to a grating edge point R lying opposite in the dispersion direction, the layer thickness at point Lz. B being 100 nm and at point R 5nm. The grating profile 5 has a grating pitch g of 0.714pm, i. a pitch frequency of 1400 l / mm and a blaze angle α = 6 °. In comparison with an analog diffraction grating having a uniformly thick dielectric layer, the diffraction effects fluctuations and diffraction anomalies occurring in the diffraction grating according to the invention due to the monotonically and linearly decreasing geometric layer thickness of the dielectric layer 4 are weakened by a factor of 4, as is the case with FIG Fig. 2 shows, for the TM polarization case. The solid curve represents the spectral

The effect is also achieved if, instead of the doubling of the layer thickness change of the dielectric layer 4 over the grid surface, the layer 4 has a different grid profile in its upper boundary surface 11 than in the lower boundary surface 12 closer to the profile-forming layer 2.
Die dielektrische Schicht 4 besitzt eine von Gitterrandpunkt L zu Gitterrandpunkt R in Dispersionsrichtung dünner werdende Schichtdicke, die eine Verringerung von Gitteninomalien bewirkt.FIG. 2 shows a concave grating, that is to say a diffraction grating on a curved carrier 1, with a blazed grating profile 5. On the support 1, the profile-forming layer 2, the Al layer 3 and finally the dielectric layer 4 of MgF 2 is arranged. The dielectric layer 4 has a layer thickness thinning from the grid edge point L to the grid edge point R in the dispersion direction, which causes a reduction in pitch inomalies.
At point L it is 200 nm, at point R 5 nm. The grating maps gap A to gap B and the blaze flanks of the grating profile 5 are inclined such that a beam coming from A which diffracts to B according to the grating glitching each blaze flank is mirrored locally.
When using this grid with z. B. 1400 l / mm in the UV and VIS range to 520 nm is applied because schv / acher intensities in the UV, the imaging correction advantageously in the range of 160 to 240 nm, d. H. In this area, according to the known correction guidelines, the errors defocusing, astigmatism, meridional and sagittate coma should be minimized.
However, this correction adapted to the UV results in larger aberrations in the visible spectral range.
A further solution variant for an imaging diffraction grating on a curved support 1 results from the imaging behavior described in Example 2. According to Fig. 4, a central grating region 6 (eg, Vs of the entire grating surface) perpendicular to the dispersion direction has a thicker dielectric layer 4 , z. B. 55 nm, as external grating areas 7 with a layer thickness of 5 nm each.
A pixel in gap B, Fig. 4, thus receives light from the entire concave grating in the well-corrected spectral range of 160 to 240nm and for the visible range, the well-corrected central region 6 with about twice as high effectiveness as the external, poorer-imaging grating areas 7. As a result, an improvement in resolution is achieved in the visible range.
The areally different layer thicknesses in this embodiment correspond to a trimming of the grid edge by the device itself.
Ausfuhrungsbeispiel 4Exemplary embodiment 4
Here, C means a light source, 8 a concave grating described in Example 2, but with a dielectric layer 4 of constant thickness of 30 μm, 10 a gap, 9 a concave grating described in Example 2, but with a dielectric layer 4 constant thickness of 60 μm, and B is an exit slit. In this example, the diffraction efficiency fluctuation and aberration reducing effect occur due to mutually different thicknesses of the dielectric layers of the diffraction gratings connected in series.
