The invention relates to a method for the radiometric determination of material parameters in Schuettguetern, in particular for determining the content of one or more components of two- or Mehrkomponentenschuettguetern. A special application is the determination of ash content in coal. The material to be measured is irradiated with a cone-shaped collimated gamma or X-ray beam of low energy and the backscattered radiation is measured. The intensities measured in at least two different distances to the irradiation cone are used to solve a nonlinear system of equations, which contains the signal generation models for the backscatter measuring sections.

The invention relates to a method for the radiometric determination of Meßgutparametern in bulk materials, in particular for determining the content of one or more components of two- or multi-component bulk materials. A special application is the determination of ash in coal.
The radiometric content determination on bulk materials is carried out using different methods, eg. 9. by forward scattering, transmission or backscatter of gamma or X-radiation. The methods can be used individually or in combination. For the determination of the ash content of coal, different measuring techniques have been developed, which, however, are mainly associated with shortages.
For example, if low-energy gamma radiation is used to determine the ash content, there is a need to carry out bed height or mass corrections. For this purpose, relatively hard gamma radiation (eg that of the Cs-137 with 661 keV) is used, which leads not only to extensive radiation protection and shielding because of Comptonrückens the higher-energy radiation also problems in the registration of low-energy quanta.
A drawback, especially in the determination of ash content on the basis of the transmission of gamma radiation, is the necessary close collimation of the radiation beam, which has a low representation of the radiometrically examined coal.
In most devices for carrying out the said method, the irradiation unit or / and the detection unit are positioned below the bulk material, so that measurements z. B. to train or truck loads are not feasible or only with large errors.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The object of the invention is the representative radiometric determination of bulk solids regardless of their mode of transport.
Darlegung des Wesens der Erfindung οExplanation of the essence of the invention o
The invention has the A fgabe invention to provide a radiometric method using only low-energy Ga by mass or X-rays and positioning of source and detectors with respect to the free bulk material surface (i. E. Above strip mills, truck or freight wagon cargo spaces) to determine the level bulk, non-contact, quasi-continuous and nondestructive.
The inventive method consists of irradiating the material to be measured with a conically collimated gamma or X-ray low energy and the measurement of the backscattered from the Meßgut radiation and is characterized in that the intensity of the backscattered radiation measured in at least two different distances from the axis of symmetry of the irradiation cone and the measured values are used to solve a non-linear system of equations which contains the signal-forming models for the individual backscattering measurements. The solutions of this system of equations allow, depending on the number of measuring sections, the specification of the contents of a corresponding number of components, ie, for. As the ash content and other factors in coal.
Although ash content determinations by means of backscattering of gamma radiation in which the scavenging radiation is detected by two detectors are known (eg DD-WP 217029), these can only take place on unsaturation-thick layers and with a position of the detectors dependent on the energy of the radiation source be realized to each other. Since radiation source and detectors are arranged below the material to be measured, z. B. on measurements on conveyor belts undesirable band effects. The Verfahron invention, however, has the advantage that radiation source and detectors are positioned above the bulk material and thus the radiometric influence of performance presentation is largely suppressed at sufficient loading height. As a result, measurements are possible that were previously not feasible, z. B. on truck or freight car loads.
The implementation of the method takes place z. B. in the We'se that the material to be measured of a located above the bulk material, conically collimated low-energy radiation source (eg. Am-241 with E 0 = 60keV) irradiated and emerging from the material to be measured backscattered gamma radiation by means of at least two detectors , which are also above the Meßgutes, but at mutually different distances to the axis of symmetry of the irradiation cone (or the radiation source) are arranged, is measured. At a primary quantum energy below 200 keV, the vast majority of the registered quantum is subject to only a single Compton scattering act. If the irradiation cone is sufficiently slender, there exists for each detector a relatively narrow dominant scattering angle range for singly scattered quanta having a relatively limited characteristic energy range. In order to determine the contents of the component of interest, the measurement results of the detectors (as a rule counting rates) are computationally processed. For this purpose, a microcomputer with an evaluation program on the principle of a maximum likelihood estimator is particularly suitable. For the mathematical description of the dependence of the radiometric counting results on the influence variables (eg ash content for raw coal quality determination and belt loading height for transport-technological quantity determination) on the average signal generation models are created, which the laws of simple backward scattering of the quantum radiation : m scattering medium including the scattering angle scattering energy relationship ( "Quantum transport modal"), the realized irradiation, beam guidance and detection geometries of the radiometric measurement sections ("performance model") and the relationship between ash content of the extracted raw lignite coal and its (technologically dependent) registered by-product fraction of known composition of matter determined by laboratory experiments and evaluation of full analysis data of raw coal samples ( The signal generation models in the form of nonlinear equations for ti : <j individual meßgeometrisch different Rückwärtsstreumeßstrecken not suitable unmittelbai ^ 1 estimate of the predictors of the radiometric counting results, but known from probability theory maximum likelihood succeed with reference to the approximately normal distributed nature of the random variable radiometric counting and applying the formulation of the nonlinear system of the maximum-likelihood Equations, from which the predictors can be determined iteratively with numerical methods computationally and displayed at the end of the Meßdatenauswertungstaktes.
The number of detectors used depends on the number of components to be determined. When using two detectors can z. B. in addition to the loading height, which occurs in the radiometric content determination as a disturbance, the content of a component in the material to be measured. In this case, the material to be measured is understood as a two-substance system. By increasing the number of detectors used, the influence of other disturbances such. As the fluctuating bulk density, werder decreased, or the determination of further components of interest in the material to be measured, for. As the iron content of the coal is possible.
