Abstract
The invention relates to a method for cleaning the surface of uncovered aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors, which is applied immediately after the etching of both anode and cathode foil for electrolytic capacitors. The cleaning is carried out without prior rinsing in distilled water with an aqueous solution containing 0.01 to 1% phosphoric acid and 1 to 10% oxalic acid, at 15 to 25C in a time of 30 to 90 s. With the method, the chloride ion content on the surface of the deposited film can be reduced to 0.5 mg / m 2 and, at the same time, an increase in specific area capacity after storage of the film can be achieved.
Description
Verfahren zur Oberflächenreinigung geätzter Aluminiumfolie für ElektrolytkondensatorenProcess for surface cleaning etched aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors
The invention is used in the production of etched aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors.
The surface of aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors is roughened electroohemisoh to achieve the highest possible specific surface capacitance, which in turn is a prerequisite for the miniaturization of the electrolytic capacitors. For the etching of cathode foil (low-alloyed aluminum) and anode foil (Al 99.99), aqueous oil-free electrolytes are likewise used. However, the impurities remaining on the surface during the etching process, especially the chloride ions, lead to defects in the subsequently applied oxide layer "" with which the films are formed or stabilized. Thus, the reetflow behavior of the capacitors are beelnträohtigt and the corrosion favors «For these reasons, the etching process is usually naohgesohaltet a cleaning stage, in which the achieved values of specific Fläohenkapazltät be worsened nloht.
In the simplest way, the films are cleaned during the etching with water. Since these cleaning runs jedooh too slow and is nioht sioher, ae have been iführt other working with acidic solutions electroless Rrinigungsverfahren.

No. 2,396,685 discloses a one-stage purification process using nitric acid and US Pat. No. 4,432,846 discloses a two-stage purification process using nitric acid in the first stage and chromic acid and phosphoric acid in the second stage. These methods are only of limited use for the cleaning of films with large etching capillaries, as they are in Hoohvoltanodenfolie. For all other etched films, the etch structures are so fine that they can not sufficiently remove the chloride ions from them with the proposed solutions. Other procedural deficiencies include the generation of toxic and highly corrosive vapors and high costs for the removal of nitrate ions from the rinse water. The use of nitric acid always leads to environmental soils.
In DE-AS 1546 196 and GB 1130 627 the use of aqueous phosphoric acid-containing solutions is proposed. The removal of the chloride ions from the roughened Oberfläohe is thereby bought with losses of specific Fläohenkapazität, since the very fine Ätzstrukturen be partially destroyed by the phosphoric acid. In particular, the evaporation and Aussohleppungsverluste of phosphoric acid in the process must naoh DEt-AS 1546 196, since working temperatures of 50 to 100 0 C are prescribed, be prevented, as it inevitably will otherwise at these temperatures for the capacity-reducing boehmite.
The process naoh DE-PS 1227 561 for purifying the Oberfläohe of chloride ions, which are present in sparingly soluble form, provides for the use of aqueous hydrochloric acid. High process costs are erforderlioh to prevent that in deviations from the predetermined concentration of hydrochloric acid and the bath temperature, the Naohätzen the film is so strong that the existing etched structure is wloder destroyed. This reduces the specific bottle capacity and reduces storage stability.

The object of the invention is a process for the surface cleaning of etched aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors, which is low-effluent and operates without additional energy expenditure with a short exposure time.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an ancestor which removes the chloride ions remaining on the surface after electroheating aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors and thereby increases the specific oil capacity and storage stability of the foil.
Die bei diesen Temperaturen an sioh niedrige Reinigungsgeschwindigkeit der Phosphorsäure wird duroh den Zusatz vonAccording to the invention, the object is achieved in that the upper surface of the electrochemically etched aluminum foil in the course of the etching process, ie without ZwisohenspUlung in distilled water, with an aqueous solution containing 0.01 to 1 % phosphoric acid and 1 to Contains 10 % oxalic acid, treated at 15 to 25 0 C in a time of 30 to 90 β and then rinsed in a known manner with distilled water and treated with Formier »or stabilization process. The common use of phosphoric and oxalic acid in the aqueous solution makes it possible to directly impart the cleaning process to the etching process, which is advantageous for the process according to the invention itself. This prevents the formation on the surface, which is heavily roughened during the etching process, of further soothenes, in particular of chloride ions in the form of a soybean oil. The use of the Qemisohes of phosphoric »and oxalic acid in the aqueous solution at the operating temperatures according to the invention prevents the Ä'tzstrukturen generated in the etching process are partially degraded again. The at these temperatures at sioh low cleaning rate of phosphoric acid is duroh the addition of

The adhering to the surface impurities, especially the chloride ions, are then at high speed
Darüberhinaus tritt überraschenderweise naoh Lagerung der so behandelten Folie ke.1.n const üblioher Abfall, sondern ein Zuwaohs an s-pezifisoher Fläohenkapazität auf.and ablated to values of 0.5 mg / m. This is advantageous for the usually continuous process for producing etched aluminum foil. The high degree of safety with which the chloride ions are removed down to low, non-irritating levels, and the reduced reprocessing ability of the used cleaning solution by means of CaO, make the process environmentally friendly and low in effluent. Duroh the common use of phosphorus and oxalic acid in the aqueous solution of the method according to the invention is achieved in Vergleioh for cleaning with only phosphoric acid solution Zuwaohs the specific Flaeumkapazität. Moreover, surprisingly, storage of the film thus treated does not result in excessive waste, but rather in an excess of s-specific void capacity.
Low alloy cathode foil of AlMgO, 2CuO, 3 of 30 pm Dioke was etched electroohemisoh and immediately danaoh, ie without a Zwisohonspülung, with an aqueous solution containing 0.1 % phosphoric acid and 5 % oxalic acid, cleaned. The purification was carried out at 25 0 O in a period of 90 s. The purity of the surface area of the chloride ion content was determined by means of a Spekol II.
The table shows the results of the cleaning process according to the invention and comparatively the results of the cleaning of the same film with a solution containing only phosphoric acid.
