Description
The invention is suitable for all devices powered by secondary elements, in particular for those with high availability and reliability.
Charakteristik der bekannten technischen LösungenCharacteristic of the known technical solutions
Battery powered devices are being used on an ever-increasing scale, with secondary devices employing two methods. In the first case, the devices are used until the end of the battery capacity and then the battery is recharged. If the use is intermittent, then no statement can be made about the still available battery capacity and thus over the useful life, since, for example, NC accumulators have no definable relationship between battery voltage and capacity. In the second case, periodically fully charged batteries are inserted into the device, so that there is always a certain useful life available. Although this method has the advantage over the first case of a certainly available useful life, but this is a frequent, sometimes unnecessary charge or danger by overcharging the battery.
In addition, both options do not allow recharging the batteries with the rated charging current. To circumvent these problems, testers are often designed for the remaining available battery capacity.
As in the above example, all testers ignore the non-constant and temperature-dependent relationship between the battery voltage and the battery capacity of many secondary elements, so there is no way the battery capacity without loss of remaining capacity.
The aim of the invention is an energy supply system that ensures maximum availability while maintaining optimal maintenance.
The invention has for its object to provide an energy supply system for devices and assemblies with secondary elements, which constantly allows statements about the available amount of energy and the state of charge and allows minimal charging times.
Erfindungsgemäß wird das durch folgende Systemkonfiguration gelöst.According to the invention, this is achieved by the following system configuration.
The secondary elements used are housed in the required number together with an information storage and a sensor in a common, firmly sealed housing, the battery cartridge. This battery cartridge is connected as an energy source with the device to be supplied or a charger of this system. The operating system of the devices communicates with the information store. The content of the information store provides information about the energy content of the secondary elements and is changed in energy extraction or supply, so that at any time the current state can be read. Since this provides information about the state of charge, only the missing amount of energy needs to be added during battery charging, which significantly shortens the charging time.
Die dazugehörigen Zeichnungen zeigen:The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment. The accompanying drawings show:
Fig. 1: erfindungsgemäße StrukturFig. 1: structure according to the invention
Fig.2: Ausführungsbeispiel zur Kopplung von Batteriekassette und Ladegerät Fig.3: Ausführungsbeispiel zur Kopplung von Batteriekassette, Stromversorgungsgerät und VerbraucherFIG. 2: exemplary embodiment for coupling the battery cartridge and charger FIG. 3: exemplary embodiment for coupling the battery cartridge, power supply unit and consumer
The consumer's operating system includes a detection system that registers energy consumption in a variety of operating conditions, correlates with the temperature of the battery cartridge and other data related to the energy consumed, and
Thus, the available capacity is read out directly from the information storage 2 and accessible to the user. This detection system will expediently be part of an arithmetic processing unit 4, for example a microcomputer of the operating system.
At the same time, the operating system also contains a control program for recharging the battery cartridge.
For connection to other electrical energy sources power supply devices must be provided which provide the required operating voltages for the consumers from the respective networks. At the same time, they also contain a charge current source 6 which can be controlled by the consumer's operating system for reloading the battery cartridge.
Dazu enthält das Ladegerät eine arithmetische Verarbeitungseinheit 4, eine Sensorschnittstelle 5, eine Ladestromquelle 6 sowie eine Entladestromsenke 7.Furthermore, the system still requires chargers that load the battery cassettes optimally, test the battery capacity and encode the information storage of the battery cartridge. For this purpose, the charger contains an arithmetic processing unit 4, a sensor interface 5, a charging current source 6 and a discharge current sink 7.
These modules of the power supply system are used in the following form. A battery is charged in the charger and the information memory is set to 100% battery capacity. This battery can now be connected to the consumer devices.
Thus, at the same time the connection of the integrated in the battery cartridge information memory 2 to the operating system of the consumer device, which now has access to the data and periodically subtracts the extracted energy from the memory contents, so that constantly the real battery capacity is entered in the information memory 2. The power consumption can be obtained, for example, by measuring the current or allocating a specific power consumption to each operating state. By simultaneous timing and computational processing quantized energy units are obtained, the number of which is periodically subtracted from the contents of the information store. The information thus obtained on the available amount of energy allows the user to make optimum use of the battery capacity.
When operating on other energy sources, such as a power supply, the battery capacity calculation also allows the secondary elements to be charged to 100% of battery capacity at all times. This ensures minimum charging times and minimum stress on the batteries. Of course, the recharging can also be done in the chargers of this system. Since the batteries undergo electrochemical aging during their lifetime, manufacturers recommend periodically complete charging and discharging cycles, which are then carried out in the charger.
However, it is necessary to determine at certain intervals the remaining total capacity of the battery. For this purpose, there is also the possibility in the charger to perform a capacitance test on a fully charged battery and to correct the information store.
