With "tebutam" and also with "butam", the substance N-benzyl-N-isopropylpivalamid, a known herbicide referred to. The invention has for its object to find a solvent or a solvent mixture, which allows the production of a cold-resistant emulsifiable concentrate with a high content of tebutam (up to about 85% wt .- / vol.).

This solvent or solvent mixture should also allow other active substances, in particular other herbicidally active substances, which are able to supplement, expand or synergize the activity of tebutam, to be accommodated in a formulation which is as highly concentrated as possible on active compounds. Such active ingredients are, for example, the (2-a-naphthoxy) -N, N-diethylpropionamide known under the name napropamide, the 2-chloro-N- (pyrazol-1-ylmethyl) acet-2 'known as metazachlor, 6 '-xylidide and known under the name trifluralin 4- (trifluoromethyl) -2,6-dinitro-N, N-dipropylaniline.

It has now surprisingly been found in the context of the present invention that propylene carbonate (4-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one) meets the stated requirements for the solvent and enables the production of a cold-resistant concentrate with a high active ingredient content.

The herbicidal mixture according to the invention is therefore essentially characterized in that the solvent consists essentially of propylene carbonate.

In addition, the solvent may still contain methanol and / or nitromethane. The use of methanol or nitromethane alone is not indicated with regard to the safety-related data of these substances (low flashpoints, risk of explosion).

According to a particular embodiment of the herbicidal mixture according to the invention, the solvent is formed by a mixture of propylene carbonate and methanol.

The tebutam can be used as the sole active ingredient of the herbicidal mixture according to the invention, or it can contain other active ingredients, in particular other herbicidally active substances, such as napromide, metazachlor and / or trifluralin, in addition to the tebutam.

Furthermore, the herbicidal mixtures according to the invention may also contain other biocidal substances, for example fungicides or insecticides.

The herbicidal mixtures according to the invention may also contain formulation auxiliaries, such as emulsifiers, UV absorbers, odors, dyes and the like. Particularly suitable emulsifiers are the polyarylphenol (15) ethoxylate, the castor oil (30-40) ethoxylate and the oleyl alcohol (10) ethoxylate, and calcium dodecylbenzenesulfonate.
