Description
Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a process for producing boride layers on iron materials, preferably on tools and structural parts. Charakteristik der bekannten technischen LösungenCharacteristic of the known technical solutions
It is known that by using trichloroborane (BCI3) in admixture with hydrogen or in admixture with hydrogen and an inert gas, for. As nitrogen or argon, at temperatures of 870 K to 1400 K boride layers on iron materials can be produced. The proposed levels of BCI3 range from 1% to 25% BCI3 by volume. It is also known that the boration can be carried out in several stages, as z. As described in JP 7618946. The boration is started at a temperature of about 970 K and subsequently interrupted by a heat treatment at a higher temperature and there is a continuation of the boron at this temperature, which means an overall increased energy expenditure. There are also known processes that add other substances to the boriding mixture, such as. B. in DD-WP 139602 TiCI4, SnCI4 u. a., Or the addition of HCl in DE-OS 3139462, which means an increased control and Dosieraufwand. The said processes have the disadvantage that the substrate material is attacked by the boriding mixture, which reduces the service properties of the boride layer.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The invention aims to improve the surface quality of boride layers and their uniform formation and to reduce the tendency to flake off and attack on the iron materials when using BCI3-H2 mixtures or BCI3-H2-inert gas mixtures and the treatment times to reduce.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The invention has for its object to develop a process for the production of boride layers on ferrous materials, can be realized with the uniform Boridschichten high surface quality with reduced Abplatzneigung with reduced attack on the iron materials.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by using conventional ovens or reactors and a gas stream consisting of H2 or H2 and N2 and / or Ar with 1% by volume to 5% by volume of BCI3, at atmospheric pressure or reduced pressure, that at a temperature less than 1050K parts of ferrous materials are bored in the oven as long as a closed 5μΐτι to 20μηη strong Boridschicht has formed. Subsequently, the temperature in the same gas mixture is increased to 1100K to 1300K and held until a desired final layer thickness is achieved. Thereafter, the parts in BCI3-free H2 or N2 or Ar or a mixture of two of these gases are thermally post-treated in the oven and / or cooled or thermally treated in the oven and / or quenched outside the furnace.
115μΓη (C45) bzw. 100μηη (20MoCr5, 42CrMo4). Die Massenänderung der Teile entspricht der Boraufnahme. The invention will be described below with reference to an embodiment. Parts made of ferrous materials (eg MK3AI, C45, 20MoCr5, 42CrMo4) are degreased, pickled, rinsed and dried. They are heated in the H2 stream at 0.1 MPa to 1 020 K and boronized at this temperature for one hour in a gas stream of the composition 98.9Vol .-% H2 and 1.1 vol .-% BCI3. Thereafter, boronation is continued for 2.5 hours with the same gas stream at 1 220K and quenched by quenching the parts in pure H2. The result is a two-phase consisting of FeB and Fe2B, firmly adhering layer of uniform surface quality with the total layer thickness 120μιτι (MK3AI) or 115μΓη (C45) or 100μηη (20MoCr5, 42CrMo4). The mass change of the parts corresponds to the Boraufnahme.
