Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the treatment of effluents containing toxic or non-biodegradable or difficult to decompose substances. The aim of the invention is the substitution of expensive carrier materials such as activated carbon or special cokes in the activation process by cheap waste products. The task was solved by the so-called coal gasification by-products. Winkler generator tube or Winkler generator ashes, are used. After treatment with 10% hydrochloric acid, almost the same degradation rates are achieved as with the use of activated carbon. If fumigated with carbon dioxide and / or air during the HCI laundry, the activity of activated carbon can be achieved. Due to the availability and the low price, a reactivation of the loaded material can be dispensed with. The excess sludge to be removed from the process is incinerated or dumped. The invention may be applied in waste water treatment plants having aeration basins.
Description
The invention relates to a process for the treatment of waste water containing toxic or non-biologically or hardly degradable compounds.
The increasing supply of toxic and / or poorly biodegradable substances into the wastewater impairs the efficacy of the known wastewater treatment processes. There are proposals to eliminate hazardous substances by adding adsorbents, dear activated carbon, adsorber resins and the like. Low-cost waste products such as power plant ashes and dusts are also used (Mangold, K.-H., Kaeding, J. Lorenz, K., Schuster, H. ..: Wastewater treatment in the chemical and related industries, Leipzig 1973). These adsorbents are generally added before or after a biological purification and thus require a separate process stage with the associated facilities and equipment (facilities for advanced wastewater treatment).
Insbesondere soll die biochemische OxydationOn the other hand, there are efforts to intensify the biological purification stage with the help of additional measures. In particular, the biochemical oxidation

Oxydation, vom Abwasser abgetrennt und in den Kreislauf zurückgeführt wird (BRD-OS 2 942 112).be improved by activated carbon in the aerated activated sludge basins. In what is known PACT process (US-PS 3,904,518) is powdered activated carbon gen dosed in such MeN that several hundred m surface area / l waste water are guaranteed "Good results were also obtained with granular activated carbon, which was colonized with activated sludge. Microbial counts of 1.5 million / ml activated carbon were achieved, which ensured high degradation rates of the organic substance (Perotti, AE and CA Rodman: Chemical Engineering Progress 6.9 (1973), p. 63). In the ZIMPRO process, the biology is intensified by the addition of 8 g of powdered activated carbon / l of waste water in the simultaneous presence of 12 g of activated sludge / 1. The spent activated carbon is subjected to ISF wet oxidation, ie reactivated and reused (Jähnig), together with the excess sludge. K ..: gwf water / sewage 119 (1978), p. 253). In the BIO-CARBOU process, a close-sifted grain coal is used as a carrier for biological treatment while suspended (Koppe, P. Sebesta, G- and H. Herkeimann: Health Engineer £ 9 (1974), p. 247). The biosludge can be discharged by rinsing the grain layer. The HYDRO-BTTEGRAL process uses a special granular coal placed in a fixed-bed reactor. This granular coal with a relatively low surface area of 200 m 2 / g is made of softwood (BRD-OS 2 109 022). According to BRD-AS 2 101 376, certain amounts of activated charcoal are added to the wastewater at pH values between 4 and 11 in order to obtain a total pesticide content of about 300 to 15 000 mg / l. When using granulated activated carbon in the activated sludge process, according to 3RD-0S 2 812 813, a fluidized bed separated from the rest of the ventilation space by sieve bottom is maintained. It was also proposed a method where a part of the loaded with biological sludge activated carbon after the biological. Oxidation, separated from the wastewater and recycled (Federal Republic of Germany OS 2,942,112).

The processes described so far have the disadvantage that they work with expensive adsorbents, such as activated carbons, special coals or cokes. In order to make the processes economical, it is usually necessary to recover the carrier materials, which is associated with additional expenditures.
Nach Möglichkeit sollen Abprodukte verwendet werden»The aim of the invention is the use of cheap substrates in biological wastewater treatment .. Ss are those substances that have a corresponding activity. If possible, waste products should be used »
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that Winkler generator dust or Winkler generator ash - coal gasification by-products - find use. It has been found that these materials have the required activity. After treatment by hydrochloric acid washing, these products are ready for use.
Since they are waste products, reactivation is not required. * The excess sludge - consisting of biomass and the modified waste products - can be incinerated or landfilled without additional elaborate process stages. It is also advantageous that the content of pesticides in the sludge to be separated is increased, which makes it easier to separate off.
