Verfahren zur Herstellung strahlenvernetzter Starkstromkabel ; __Method for producing radiation-crosslinked power cables ; __
Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a method for producing radiation-crosslinked power cables, in particular high-voltage cable with insulation made of polyethylene.
Charakteristik der bekannten technischen lösungenCharacteristic of the known technical solutions
Polymers with paraffinically saturated carbon chain, such as polyethylene, ethylene-propylene copolymers and copolymers of ethylene with vinyl acetate, acrylic esters and other unsaturated monomers are preferably crosslinkable with organic radical formers or with high-energy radiation. '<Both processes are industrially introduced, with the technology of the irradiation crosslinking with high-energy electrons for the time being restricted to cable and pipe products with a relatively low wall thickness. The technical possibilities for beam cross-linking of insulation with larger wall thicknesses are limited by the performance of the available electron accelerators. In the cable industry, therefore, the technology of radiation crosslinking is mainly used in the field of low-voltage cables. The range of medium- and high-voltage cables with correspondingly large wall thicknesses has limitations that are directly related to the layer thickness to be crosslinked and the available accelerator voltages, which determine the energy and thus the range of the electrons.

(1,958), S. 135-143)In the early days of high-energy electron-beam cable crosslinking, it was observed that spontaneous discharge phenomena occurred during irradiation, in particular in the case of thick-walled insulation, which led to destruction of the cable. The discharge phenomena which occurred in this case were similar to the discharge figures known from high-voltage engineering. This so-called radiant-induced tree formation is caused by the formation of an electric field in the interior of the irradiated insulating material due to the structure of a mastic load. The space charge is formed when the injected high-energy electrons have their kinetic energy delivered by impact processes to the absorber material and then captured by traps. Investigations of the charge structure in electron-irradiated polymers have so far been carried out on polymethylmethacrylate (Plexiglas). It was shown that most of these charges are localized at a depth approximately equal to the electron range of the primary radiation. Very high charge concentrations, the field strengths in the order of magnitude of the dielectric strength of the insulating result, therefore, preferably form when the. Layer thickness of the material to be irradiated is greater than the electron range. Discharge degradation by breakdown discharge and thus formation of tree-like discharge channels occurs when field strengths come about that exceed the electrical resistance of the insulating material. If one sets e.g. A grounded tip electrode on irradiated polymer plates will cause strike-through from a certain dose. "Higher doses can lead to spontaneous breakdowns even without additional field-enhancing effects. The tree-like discharge channels form in this case in a relatively thin layer parallel to the irradiation surface, which corresponds to the depth maximum of the double charge. Mechanical defects, conductive impurities and other defects in the insulating material act as germs for. the emergence of breakthrough and thus favor the tree formation. Die während der Bestrahlung sich bildende Raumladung wirkt sich ferner in folgender Hinsicht^negativ aus:Possibilities for avoiding the radiation-induced tree formation arise by influencing the space charge formation in the insulating material and the Paktoren, which affect the electrical resistance of the insulating material. In addition to radiation-technological variants, e.g. the influence of the temperature, the insulation structure, the u.a. depends on the processing conditions and the Isolierstoffrezeptur known on the tree formation. Special recipe compositions have a much lower tendency towards radiation-induced tree formation compared to standard polyethylenes (WP 135 393). Space charges are still occurring. The space charge which forms during the irradiation also has a negative effect in the following respects:
The space charge is negative and exerts on the incident during the irradiation, also negatively charged electrons an opposing field effect, which reduces the penetration depth and thus the crosslinkable insulation thickness -.
The space charges in the insulation must have decayed before the high voltage test of the cables in the test field, i.e., the production run is extended in time by a required waiting time.
To avoid these Nahhteile that the acceleration voltage of the electrons is increased so far that the electrons completely penetrate the insulating material is not technically feasible and fails also at the uneven wall thickness in coaxial arrangements.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that before applying the radiation to the insulating surface between the insulation and scanner, an electrically good conductive layer is applied, which is grounded in front of and behind the Strahleneinwirkzone. As a result, the space charges are discharged via the earth contacts using the radiation-induced in the insulation inner conductivity, which is present at the moment of irradiation to earth. Several methods are given for applying the electrically conductive layer: Electrolytic conductive solids are extruded or wound onto the insulating surface. Powder-shaped electrically conductive substances are applied to the insulation surface, for example brushed. ''. As a further alternative method, an endless, circulating conductive tape is pressed firmly and without slipping on the insulating surface. In this case, only the surface zone of the insulation in the irradiation path above the space charge maximum is brought into contact with conductive, grounded material.
