Description
The invention relates to a method for producing fingers for reapers of harvesters, wherein the fingers are integrally formed and provided without finger plates and their blanks are produced by forging and subjected to surface hardening after the subsequent machining machining.
The cut quality of the crop is essentially influenced by the nature of the cutting edges of the knife blades and the counter cutting of the fingers. In addition to an advantageous economic production of the fingers and the hardness of the cutting edges and their service life is of crucial importance. Therefore, various methods, certain types of materials and hardening special features are already known for the production of the fingers, which contribute to an economical production and to an increase of the wear resistance.
From DE-OS 1507332, for example, a finger with particularly hard cutting edges is known, in which after curing of the entire finger body, the areas of the cutting edges are subjected to an additional hardening process. As a result, greater hardness is achieved in these areas than in the rest of the finger body. Although this reduces the wear that occurs, the cost due to the two-time curing of the fingers for a large-scale production is too high. Furthermore finger fingerless fingers are known, which consist of tempered steel and the cutting edges are inductively hardened. Disadvantages are the material-related low toughness of the finger body and a high energy requirement and the thermal influence of the base material. The thereby forming hardness image does not correspond to the occurring during harvesting stresses of the finger.
Furthermore, from DE-OS 1632 826 a one-piece finger without finger plate known, which is made of tempered steel and the fingertip at the root has smaller width and height dimensions than the known fingers. Although this results in a better lubricity through the crop and insensitivity to foreign bodies, the cutting edges in a one-time hardening process not the required hardness, so that in this case an additional hardening of the cutting edge region is necessary.
The aim of the invention is to reduce the production costs for a large-scale production of the fingers.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, durch ein vorteilhaftes Verfahren, Finger mit einer verschleißfesten Oberfläche, harten Schneidkanten und einer geringen Bruchgefahr herzustellenThe invention has for its object to produce by an advantageous method, fingers with a wear-resistant surface, hard cutting edges and a low risk of breakage
Erfindungsgemäß wird dies durch folgende Verfahrensschritte erreicht: According to the invention, this is achieved by the following method steps:
a) die aus einem chromlegierten Einsatzstahl bestehenden Finger werden nach dem Schmiedevorgang ohne vorherige Glühbehandlung spanabhebend mechanisch fertig bearbeitet,a) the fingers, which consist of a chromium-alloyed case-hardening steel, are mechanically machined after the forging process without prior annealing treatment,
b) die fertig bearbeiteten Finger werden in ihrer Gesamtheit einer kohlenstoffabgebenden Gasatmosphäre ausgesetzt und das Werkstoffgefüge in der Randzone aufgekohlt,b) the finished fingers are exposed in their entirety to a carbon-emitting gas atmosphere and the material structure in the edge zone is carburized,
c) nach dem Aufkohlen werden die Finger ebenfalls in ihrer Gesamtheit nur einem einmaligen Härte- und Anlaßvorgang unterzogen, wobei die gesamte Oberfläche der Finger eine gleichmäßige Härtezone aufweist, deren Rockwellhärte nach dem Anlassen zwischen 47 und 55HRC liegt und der Kern des Fingerkörpers ein unbeeinflußtes Werkstoffgefüge mit einer hohen Zähigkeit aufweist.c) after carburizing, the fingers are also subjected in their entirety to a single hardening and tempering operation, the entire surface of the fingers having a uniform hardening zone whose Rockwell hardness after tempering is between 47 and 55HRC and the core of the finger body is an unaffected material structure having a high toughness.
According to a further feature of the invention, the quenching of the fingers is carried out in an oil bath, wherein no washing is carried out between quenching and tempering.
By the manufacturing method according to the invention a rational mass production is possible with a reduced technical complexity and improved performance characteristics. A wear-resistant surface hardening zone comprising the entire finger on all sides is created, the core of the finger body having a high degree of toughness and elasticity. This creates a finger with spring steel-like properties, which has both a high wear resistance and an extremely low risk of breakage. There is no additional hardening of the cutting edges required. Breaking of the cutting edges due to overheating is avoided. The existing elasticity of the finger body reduces the risk of damage or brittle fracture when hitting foreign bodies and allows the execution of straightening during finger assembly on the cutting unit. Due to the increased life of the fingers no maintenance and repair work is required during the harvest campaign.
The invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment. The forged from a chromium-alloyed case steel 15 Cr3 or 16Mn Cr5 fingers are machined without prior heat treatment machined. Thereafter, the fingers are brought in their entirety in a carbon-emitting gas atmosphere in the peripheral zone to a higher carbon-nitrogen content. After carburizing, the fingers are subjected to a one-time hardening process with quenching in an oil bath. Between the quenching and the tempering the fingers are not washed, so that a temporary corrosion protection is created by the bronzing effect occurring without additional effort. The corrosion protection is further supported by the carbonitriding produced during the carburizing process.
