Such substituted benzimidazolones are reactive and versatile intermediates. Since the benzimidazolones exist in a tautomeric equilibrium, reactions on the hydroxyl or carbonyl function are readily possible reaction products of this type with amines, other heterocycles which have an NH or SH function, or with halogen acids, are used as pharmaceuticals against deletions, Plant growth substances and pesticides applied.

Charakteristik der bekannten technischen LösungenCharacteristic of the known technical solutions
Außerdem bedarf die Herstellung substituierter o-Phenylendiamine teurer Reduktionsmittel und komplizierter Aufarbeitungsverfahren.1 It is known that substituted benzimidazolones can be prepared from substituted o-phenylenediamines and urea at high temperatures (m® - {Miidi-U & e & 21131367). However, this special autoclave required. In addition, the preparation of substituted o-phenylenediamines requires expensive reducing agents and complicated work-up procedures. 1
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The aim of the invention is a new, one-step, technically easy to carry out, selective process for the preparation of substituted benzimidazolones.
Darlegung des Vesens der ErfindungPresentation of the invention of the invention
The invention has for its object to produce these compounds without the use of expensive reducing agents, without the use of pressure and without interfering byproducts. The substituted benzimidazolones of the general formula I are prepared by cathodic reduction of substituted o-nitrophenylureas of the general formula II in which R and m have the same meaning as in formula I, in water and / or polar organic solvents in the presence of protons.

For electrolysis, use is made of a homogeneous electrolyte containing from 5 to 0% by weight, preferably 5 to 2% by weight of II Polar reaction solvates are aqueous solutions of mineral acids or acidic buffer solutions in the pH range of 1 to 7, preferably 1 to 31 other alcohols or their mixtures with water and acetic acid. Suitable supporting electrolytes, taking into account the particular solubility ratios, are preferably mineral acids, such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid and alkali metal halides, advantageously in concentrations of less than 5% by weight. Conducting salts can also be used in relatively high concentrations, since they only affect the Serve current transport and can be returned back to the electrolysis process after work-up »
It is expedient to carry out the electrolysis at temperatures between 70 and 110 C and thus to design the benzimidazolone formation as a one-pot reaction. However, the electrolysis can also be carried out at room temperature and the reaction solution is subsequently heated in a separate vessel to about 100.degree.
The electrolysis solution should be stirred or pumped over to avoid concentration polarization.
Suitable anode materials are platinum or graphite. The cathode is generally composed of mercury, lead, copper or nickel. The current density can be varied within wide limits without significant influence on current efficiency and type of product. Preferably, current densities of h0 to 150 mA / cm are suitable. The cathode potential is selectable from -0.5 to -2.0V.
