Description
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of silicate pigments for the production of scannable, coverable liquid compositions.
Obwohl diese Methode die Verkieselung der aufgebrachten Beschichtung geringfügig verkürzte, war sie mit einer nicht vertretbarThe gate parts of silicic, inorganic materials as coating materials against all organic, film-forming paint applications, have long been known and are particularly in the resistance to biological influences and aging resistance, silicate coatings consist of a mixture of preferably metal oxides and rock flour, here called silicate pigments, which are stirred before application with water glass as a binder. However, this basic principle has, in practical use, led to some problems of processing, which were manifested in particular by a slow silicification process of the coating or by the number of components required for the preparation of the ready-to-use coating material and the manner in which they are mixed. The slow silicification process of fresh coating, which takes place by the absorption of carbon dioxide in the air within days, is adversely affected by both the rain and too intense sunlight. Disruptions to the work process and failures due to washing out of the coating are inevitable. It was now trying to shorten the Verkieseiungszeit of the applied coating in that the coating ready for application was stirred a few days before use and exposed to the action of the air carbonic acid. Although this method slightly shortened the silicification of the applied coating, it was unacceptable
Attempts have also been made to improve the spreadability and the flow behavior of mixed coating substances by adding synthetic resin emulsions. However, the existing problems could not be solved because the silicification process was not influenced by such agents.
The attempt to achieve a time-shortening gate silicification by incorporating an aqueous solution of free hydrofluoric acid and magnesium or zinc silicofluoride in one part of the binder necessary for the addition of the silicate pigments does indeed lead to success with respect to the silicification time, but brings with it application-related difficulties Incorporation of an aqueous, acidic and saline solution in a part of the bum pasting required binder is an additional operation that requires expertise and special care · Experience shows that this operation has sources of errors that lead to Fehlschlägeil in the execution of the coating ·
The acidic reaction solution represents the third component of the system, the handling of which, owing to its toxicity, requires occupational safety precautions. In this respect, the current silicate coating system requires improvement. In all previous attempts to shorten the Verkieseiungszeit variants were sought to change the binder, which did not solve the problem comprehensively ·
The invention now has the object of providing a simplified process for the production of fast-curing to develop s hiding power SiIikatbeschichtungen "which can be easily implemented without Beeinträchtigimg the quality of the paint or spray plaster of • untrained workers at the construction site ·
Erfindungsgemäß erfolgt dies dadurch, daß den trockenen Silikatpigmenten Salze aus schwachen Basen und starken Säuren,According to the invention, this is achieved by adding salts of weak bases and strong acids to the dry silicate pigments,
-3--3-
Mahlhilfsmittel beeinträchtigen die Wirksamkeit der Aktivatoren nicht.their dissociation constant is greater than K ^ = 1, o 1o, in finely divided form in amounts of о, 5 to 12% are added and this mixture is incorporated only at a desired later date in the binder, it was surprisingly found that by this Salts are also triggered in the absence of free acids in the subsequent processing with the binder, the effect of nucleation and thus the chelate hardening · The duration of Prozeßbarke it the mixture and the speed of Verkieselungsprozesses thereby of the amount of admixed activator and the respective color-determining metal oxide dependent. These salts are finely ground individually, in admixture with one another or with rock flour in commonly used grinding aggregates and homogeneously mixed with the silicate pigments. Part of the goal is the use of salt mixtures, one portion of which is capable of spontaneously forming simply-built, hard silicates and thus catalyzes the entire crystallization phase. Grinding aids do not affect the effectiveness of the activators.
