Field of technology

The technical solution relates to an upholstered body of seating furniture, which after another assembly can be used for both sitting and lying down.

State of the art

The backrests or seats of the folding beds are formed by one, two or more parts, usually connected by a cover fabric. These parts, when unfolded for use as a mattress or extra bed, usually do not support the lying person with sufficient quality. In the case of unfolded backrests for use as a mattress, there are perpendicular joints in the upholstery of the carrier material, where there is a local softening or even falling of the thus formed lying. This connection is familiar when lying down and is uncomfortable for the user.

When using the seat as a mattress, the principles of proper support for the lying person are not maintained in terms of healthy sleep. When using a zone mattress as a seat, the user is usually bothered by zones of different stiffness.

The aim of the presented technical solution is to create comfortable seating furniture and, after conversion, to lay out on a bed, corresponding to the requirements of healthy sleep.

The essence of the technical solution

The technical solution concerns the upholstered body of the seating furniture. The essence of the technical solution lies in the fact that the upholstered body of seating furniture, adapted for reclining, consists of a seat and backrest of flexible supporting material, where the backrest consists of two parts, the first part and the second part, which are provided with a sloping storage surface so that when folded together they form a sloping storage planar surface. In the sitting position, the backrest forms an angle of 95 to 125 ° with its bevelled bearing surface with the seat, the two backrest parts lying on top of each other being connected to the backrest by a securing element, e.g. a zipper, to facilitate handling and compactness.

In the seated position, the backrest forms an angle with the seat by means of its bearing surface, preferably in the range from 105 to 115 °.

For the reclining position, the parts are abutted with their bevelled surfaces so that together with the seat they form one functional surface which has the required rigidity for sitting, and the other opposite functional surface is provided with various notches zoned for lying. For the support of lying people, the notches have different depths and inclinations.

The backrest consists of two obliquely bevelled parts on one side at an angle corresponding to the ergonomic principles of reclining when sitting, placed with a bevelled flat surface on the seat. These parts, after unfolding the backrest and assembling for lying with a bevelled surface, create a high-quality connection of the flexible support material in the bed, which does not show the disadvantages of local softening of the lying surface of the vertical joint of the upholstery.

The backrest and seat of upholstered furniture made of flexible material - eg PUR foams are either monolithic or sandwich constructions (of two or more parts) and are adjusted on each side according to the purpose of use. On the side used when sitting, the core is non-zone with the required rigidity for seating furniture. On the lying side, the core is zone-designed with a corresponding stiffness

The aesthetic appearance of the backrest when folded is achieved by suitably designed upholstery and the use of a zipper or other securing element, which ensures the integrity of both parts of the backrest even during handling. After opening the zipper, a different upholstery can be used on the inner lying surface of the unfolded backrest, which is adapted to the lying function - ie eg the stitched cover material used on the mattresses.

Example of technical solution

The upholstered folding furniture consists of a seat 1 and backrest parts 2, 3 - see Fig. 1. Each of the backrest parts is provided with a bevelled flat surface 22, 33 on one side. they rest the backrests together so that their bevelled surfaces form a bevelled planar bearing surface. After placing the backrest on the horizontal surface of the seat 1, they both form an angle 5, corresponding to the ergonomic principles of support when sitting.

To use the upholstered body of reclining furniture (Fig. 2), the backrest parts 2, 3 are brought together with their bevelled surfaces 22, 33 in the area 4 between them so that the two backrest parts 2, 3 form a flat surface of the same height as has a seat 1. After assembling the seat 1 and both parts 2, 3 of the backrest, one loading surface is created.

The seat 1 is for side-facing use 1b (seat side for seating) with the required stiffness for the seating furniture upwards. In the folded state, the backrest panels 2,3 are oriented with the side 3b (the side of the second seating panel) with the required rigidity outside to the seated person.

When using the seat 1 and the parts 2 and 3 of the backrest in the unfolded reclining state (see Fig. 2), the seat 1 is turned upwards side 1a (side of the reclining seat) with rigidity and zoning corresponding to the support requirements of the reclining person. The backrest panels 2 and 3 are arranged around the area 4 between the adjacent first and second backrest panels with an obliquely bevelled flat surface towards each other on the side 2a (side of the first backrest panel) and 3a (side of the second backrest panel after lying) upwards. Both these sides 2a and 3a, formed by the assembly of both parts 2 and 3 of the backrest, form an integral - local softening simple lying surface, which meets the requirements for the support of a lying person.

Fig. 3 shows in a longitudinal section of the seat 1 (parts 2 and 3) one of the possible constructions of the elastic upholstery. In this case, the melting is solved by a sandwich composition, where there is a material on the seat side of the seat cushion (the back side of the PUR backrest) without longitudinal zoning with a stiffness that meets the seating requirements. When turning the seat - unfolding the backrest upwards for the reclining side (see the above-mentioned sides of the parts 1a / 2a, 3a), this rigidity and zoning show the requirements for the support of the lying person.

Fig. 4 shows a view of the seat assembly 1 and the parts 2, 3 of the backrest for sitting as a sofa. Both parts 2, 3 of the backrest are connected to achieve integrity and aesthetic appearance of the backrest

The main advantage of the above-mentioned upholstered furniture upholstery construction is its universal use on folding furniture while maintaining a quality function for both sitting and lying down.
