Abstract

The invention is a method of monitoring bark beetle activities in forest stands using a camera (2) on a telescopically extendable carrier (1). The camera (2) captures a recording of the trunk of the examined tree when it is lifted towards the crown of the examined tree with the help of a telescopically extendable carrier (1). The camera footage is analyzed to find signs of bark beetle activity on the examined tree. The camera recording is processed in the processor (8) of the microcomputer (6) according to instructions contained in the evaluation software module. The camera recording is wireless and is continuously projected onto the user's display device (4), e.g. a mobile phone. The bark beetle activity monitoring system includes a camera (2), a telescopically extendable camera carrier (1) of thr camera (2) for lifting the camera (2) and a user display device (4) for reproducing the camera footage. The camera (2) is integrated into a microcomputer (6) for processing and distributing the camera recording via a communication block (10) for wireless communication with the user display device (4).
