The invention relates to a device for cutting and holding yarns in a two-cylinder circular knitting machine, comprising a fixed and movable cutting knife and an optional movable retainer and further a pivotable pressing thumb, wherein a movable cutting knife or movable retainer is provided retaining edge for cooperation with pressure thumb.

In the case of rough machines, it also has a rigid shim with a V-shaped recess and a movable gripper, as is known from Czech Pat. Pat. No. 263 104. These devices operate reliably, but nestej3 ·, _to 'not thick yarns, especially when using elastic materials of poor held thread.

It is an object of the invention to improve the above-mentioned drawbacks.

The device according to the invention is characterized in that a rubber roller is arranged on the thrust finger, transverse to the direction of movement of the movable cutting knife, opposite the holding edge of the movable cutting knife or the movable holder in the retracted position.

In the preferred embodiment, the longitudinal axis of the rubber roller is positioned behind the retaining edge in the direction of movement of the movable cutting knife to the retracted position.

An example of an embodiment of the invention

The known two-cylinder circular knitting machine for the production of sock goods is equipped in each knitting system with a device for cutting and holding threads. The apparatus comprises a fixed cutting knife 1 to which a movable cutting knife 2 is assigned. Furthermore, it is a fixed retainer 3 having a V-shaped recess on the face (Fig. 2) and a movable retainer 4 above it. The rubber roller 51 is rigidly arranged in the pressing thumb 5 so that, when the movable retainer 3 is in the retracted position, i.e. when it is held there, it is opposite its holding edge 41 and parallel to it. In order to hold the grip as best as possible, the longitudinal axis (Q) of the rubber roller (5) must be beyond the holding edge (31) in the direction of travel (S) of the movable gripper (3) to the retracted position.

The function of the device described above is as follows. Before cutting the threads P1 and P2, of which P2 is weak and P1 thick, the movable cutting knife 2 and the movable retainer 4 are in the forward extended position, and not of that PI. An advantage of the invention is that the retaining edge cannot cross the largest diameter of the rubber roller and thus prevents excessive wear.
