Dosavadní stav techniky vychází z laického využití zpracování propolisu, to znamená, že takto zpracovaný propolis má vždy různé složení účinných látek a tedy i různou míru a intenzitu působení na daný okruh zdravotních problémů nebo kvalitu výrobků z tohoto propolisu vyrobených. Objektivní metoda homologace známa není. V současnosti se propolis ve formě tinktury převážně získává vyluhováním surového propolisu alkoholem. Příklady provedeníExamples
Šarže o váze 50 kg přírodního propolisu se po zmrazení -22 °C rozdrtí na malé kousky až prášek, který se v rozsahu šarže naloží do 90% etanolu. K tomu se přidá 200 kg látky ETOH (ethanol) a tato směs se nechá 10 až 12 hodin macerovat. Po rozmíchání směsi při teplotě 50 °C se nechá směs sedimentovat až je extrakt čirý. Tekutina se odsaje až na propolisovou kaši, která se opět zmrazí na -22 °C. Poté se provádí druhá extrakce propolisové kaše, která obsahuje do 10 % sušiny opět za přítomnosti látky ETOH a zahřátí směsi na 50 °C.
