Pro prezentaci výrobků, nebo jejich uspořádání pro prodejní nabídku, jsou používány stojany, které obsahují nosné stěny, mezi kterými jsou uspořádány ukládací desky, resp, police, na kterých jsou výrobky uloženy. Pro konstrukční jednoduchost takovýchto stojanů a snadnou přemístitelnost je nutné, aby je bylo možno skládat, či sestavovat na různých místech a zároveň snadno rozebírat. Dalším podstatným požadavkem na takovéto stojany je docílení jejich nízké váhy. Pro docílení nízké váhy je vhodné použít materiály s nízkou specifickou hmotností, např. kartony. Z takovéhoto materiálu je možno sestavit stojan s dostatečnou nosností, pokud nosné stěny, ke kterým jsou ukládací desky různými způsoby připevňovány, jsou celistvé, bez jejich statického narušení, např. lomy. Připevňování ukládacích desek se dociluje rozebíratelnými spoji, např. prostřednictvím kloubů, kde jedna část kloubu je připevněna na nosný stojan a druhá část kloubu je připevněna na ukládací desku nebo prostřednictvím usazovacích spár, kdy záhyb boční ukládací desky je vložen do usazovací spáry v nosném stojanu, případně naopak. Pro zvýšení stability celého stojanu jsou pak nosné stěny spojeny se zakrývací deskou, která je ve většině případů v jednom kuse s nosnými stěnami, přičemž mezi nosnými stěnami a zakrývací deskou je pravoúhlé zalomení. Podstata konstrukce skládacího stojanu podle technického řešení spočívá v tom, že nosné stěny jsou otočně spojeny s ukládacími policemi, které jsou opatřeny ohyby, přičemž ohyby všech ukládacích polic leží v jedné rovině.
