Abstract
Un proceso que permite la recuperación selectiva de níquel por intercambio de absorción de ion a partir de una solución de ácido sulfúrico de Ni/Co conteniendo níquel en el rango de alrededor de 0.5 a 40 gpl y cobalto en el rango de alrededor de 0.01 a 2 gpl como sulfatos. El proceso comprende contactar la solución a un rango de pH a partir de alrededor 0.3 a 6 con un lecho de resina de intercambio de ion protonatado en el que protones de los mismos son intercambiados con iones de niquel en dicha solución durante el intercambio de ion. The process involves contacting the solution at a pH range from about 0.3 to 6 with a bed of protonated ion exchange resin in which protons thereof are exchanged with nickel ions in said solution during ion exchange. Nickel is selectively preferably extracted from cobalt from a solution at a pH of less than about 2, thereby forming a cobalt-containing raffinate. The absorbed nickel is removed from said sulfuric acid resin to form a nickel sulfate solution characterized by a nickel to cobalt ratio of at least about 50: 1 adequate to recover substantially pure nickel by electrolysis.
