Abstract

1. Process for the preparation of pure dialkyl succinates by catalytic hydrogenation of derivatives of maleic acid and/or fumaric acid, characterized in that the catalytic hydrogenation is carried out on the corresponding undiluted dialkyl maleates and/or dialkyl fumarates, which are in the liquid state of aggregation, at temperatures of 40 to 190 degrees C, with the proviso that the reaction temperature stabilizes above the melting point of the starting material which is used, and under a pressure of 1 to 40 bar.
