Abstract

A rotor for an electrical machine comprises a shaft (4) and radially oriented permanent magnets arranged between pole terminals (1) with grooves in those faces of the pole terminals contacting the magnets, into which grooves cotters (2) have been driven, the cotters being longer than the pole terminals. Like ends of the cotters are connected with one another and with the shaft by means of a non-magnetic connecting element (3). This construction makes it possible to increase the radial dimensions of the magnets, thus increasing the effective magnetic flux and reducing the dissipation of magnetic flux through the machine shaft. <IMAGE>
