Abstract
The subject of the solution is the method of disposal liquid radioactive waste, produced in contaminated laundry radionuclides. In liquid radioactive the iron concentration is adjusted ions in the range of 40 to 1000 mg / l, optionally, the concentration of nickel ions at between 0.5 and 100 mg per liter and concentration of ferrocyanide ions at a range of 0.2 up to 100 mg per liter. Instead of nickelrates ions may be copper ions or ions in the range of 0.5 to 100 mg per liter of liquid radioactive waste. Then alkaline with calcium hydroxide to a pH greater than 10.5 and the precipitate is removed.
Description
Vynález řeší způsob zneškodňování kapalných radioaktivních odpadů, produkovaných v prádelnách prádla kontaminovaného rádi onukl i dy.The present invention provides a method for the disposal of liquid radioactive waste produced in laundries contaminated by radioactive waste.
In laundry laundries contaminated with radionuclides, water containing, in addition to conventional laundry impurities, radioactive substances is produced as waste. Their total volume activity reaches tens to thousands of Bq / l. These waters are discharged into the watercourse, as long as the concentrations of the radionuclides present, usually without further treatment or after dilution. Waters with higher radionuclide contents are concentrated on the evaporator. However, the first option becomes increasingly unusable due to the stricter environmental protection requirements. The second variant cannot be used for energy and operational reasons for foaming of waste.
The above-mentioned drawbacks are largely eliminated by the method for the disposal of the liquid radioactive waste containing detergents with the aid of the calcium hydroxide of the invention, which comprises treating the radioactive waste with a salt of the ferric ion group. Then, optionally, a suspension prepared by precipitation of a solution of ferrocyanide and salts from the group of nickel, optionally copper and cobalt ions is added. Alkalization is then carried out with calcium hydroxide to a pH greater than 10.5 and the precipitate formed is discarded. A preferred embodiment of the invention is that the ferric salt is added in an amount corresponding to a concentration of 40 to 1000 mg of ferric ions per liter of liquid radioactive waste. The nickel salt is added in an amount corresponding to a concentration of 0.5 to 100 mg of nickel ions per liter, and the ferrocyanide is added in an amount of 0.2 to 100 mg of ferrocyanide ions per liter of liquid radioactive waste. The copper and cobalt salts are added in an amount corresponding to a concentration of 0.5 to 100 mg of copper or cobalt-2 242 652 ion per liter of liquid radioactive waste.
The method of disposing of the liquid radioactive waste containing the detergent compositions of the present invention is not ethically demanding and its use results in significant energy savings. It also contributes greatly to the improvement of the environment, in particular by reducing the radioactivity content by two to three orders of magnitude in the waters discharged into the watercourse and by simultaneously reducing the active ingredient content of the detergents by one order. Radioactivity is concentrated to a small volume, which is advantageous for its disposal. A great advantage is also that the apparatus used to carry out the method is simple.
The method of liquid radioactive waste disposal containing detergents is based on separation of radionuclides from water by precipitation and co-precipitation with selected collectors. Either calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide may be used to render the liquid radioactive waste alkaline. The final product of the process is both an active precipitate, which can be disposed of in a conventional manner, and purified water.
In the examples, the values obtained by carrying out the process according to the invention are given under laboratory conditions, in which samples of liquid radioactive waste of 1 l volume were processed. However, the results obtained were also confirmed in continuous pilot processing of waste using several cubic meters of water.
