Abstract

Para mejorar la rigidez de una capa simple delgada o mono-hoja de acero, un acero compuesto comprende por lo menos dos capas de acero externas separadas con un espaciador. Los materiales espaciadores pueden incluir cualquier metal menos denso que el acero, o un polímero o resina, opcionalmente que comprende una fibra de carbono o vidrio, o material de Kevlar. Dicho acero compuesto puede producir una mayor rigidez que una mono-hoja de acero que tiene el mismo grosor total de hoja.
