Description

Assembly comprising a folding ladder and a platform
Technical Field
The present utility model relates to an assembly for making scaffolds, in particular for making scaffolds comprising a folding ladder and one or more platforms, and to a platform which can be used in combination with a folding ladder.
Background
Folding ladders are well known in the art. In a general embodiment, the folding ladder has four sections which are connected to each other by means of hinges. The hinge is provided with an (automatic) locking mechanism which ensures that the positions of the stepladder sections relative to each other are in a predetermined position.
It is known that such a folding ladder can be placed in a "scaffolding position" in which the middle two folding ladder sections form a substantially horizontal bridge and the outer folding ladder sections form the "legs" of the bridge. Known folding ladders have folding ladder sections comprising stiles with steps between them.
It is known to combine a folding ladder with a platform on a step of a "bridge section" when the folding ladder is used in a scaffolding position. Assemblies of a folding ladder and one or more platforms for making scaffolding are well known in the art.
However, in practice, existing platforms are not satisfactory.
It is an object of the present utility model to obviate the problems described above, and in particular to provide an alternative platform folding ladder assembly, an improved platform folding ladder assembly which partially obviates one or more problems of the prior art. Another aspect of the utility model is to provide a platform folding ladder assembly that is easy to use.
Disclosure of Invention
According to the utility model, the object is achieved by providing an assembly according to claim 1, comprising a folding ladder and a platform for making a scaffold.
The folding ladder has two leg sections and two bridge sections, each folding ladder section comprising two stiles connected by a plurality of steps. The leg sections are each hingably connected to one of the bridge sections so that the folding ladder can be folded into a scaffolding position for supporting the platform on at least one of the bridge sections.
The platform comprises a plate provided with a first fixing means and a second fixing means for fixing the plate to the folding ladder.
The plate has a top surface and a bottom surface. In use, the plate rests with its bottom surface on the steps of at least one of the bridge sections to enable a person to stand on the top surface of the plate.
First and second securing means are provided on the bottom surface of the plate to secure the plate to the steps of the bridge section.
The plate is provided with at least one hole in the plate through which the first securing means is manually operable from the top side of the platform.
The holes are through holes which also serve as gripping openings, i.e. openings for manually engaging the plate members, for example for lifting the plate members from a ladder. At least one hole is provided in the plate such that when the platform is mounted on the ladder, the at least one hole is located in the area between the two rungs.
The first securing means comprises a latch movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, preferably in a direction parallel to the bottom surface of the panel.
The latch is provided with a control portion configured to engage via Kong Yongshou to enable the latch to move between the locked and unlocked positions. The control portion is configured for engagement by hand, preferably with the inside of a finger, preferably in a gripping manner, for manipulation via Kong Yongshou provided in the panel.
The latch is provided with a gripper portion for engaging a first step of a folding ladder on which the panel rests in the locked position, thereby securing the panel to the folding ladder, and for disengaging the first step in the unlocked position, so that the panel can be removed from the folding ladder.
For engaging the second step of the folding ladder, the second securing means may comprise fixed hook elements or further fastening means known from the prior art.
In an alternative embodiment, the second securing means are similar to the first securing means and the plate member is provided with second holes through which the second securing means are operable from the top side of the platform in order to engage the second steps of the folding ladder.
The first fixing means according to the utility model are operable from the top surface of the plate via the hole. It is thus possible to attach/detach the plate from above, for example when standing next to a scaffold, so that the platform is easy to install (detach).
In addition, at least one aperture in the plate member through which the first securing means is manually operable also provides the platform with features for engaging the platform. This is particularly advantageous when the plate is provided with two such holes at opposite ends of the plate, preferably with similar securing means, each provided with a latch according to the utility model, so that the left hole can be engaged with the left hand and the right hole can be engaged with the right hand. This assists in lifting the panel from the ladder by hand, especially with two hands.
Accordingly, the present utility model provides an alternative assembly for making scaffolding, in particular an alternative assembly comprising scaffolding comprising a folding ladder and one or more platforms, and an alternative platform which may be used in combination with the folding ladder, which at least partly avoids one or more problems of the prior art.
Moreover, the present utility model thus provides an improved assembly (i.e., a landing ramp assembly) comprising a ramp and one or more landings, as well as a landing that can be used in combination with a ramp. Furthermore, the present utility model thus provides a platform folding ladder assembly and platform that is easy to use.
In an embodiment, the aperture of the plate is shaped and positioned relative to the first securing means to display the control portion of the latch from the top side (i.e., top side) of the plate at least when in the locked position.
For example, in an embodiment, the aperture is positioned relative to the first securing means such that when the latch is in the locked position the aperture is positioned above the control portion and the first securing means is further shaped such that a person can see the position of the first securing means from above through the aperture. Thus, the holes are shaped and positioned so that a user can visually check whether the platform is mounted in a secure manner, thereby preventing at least some misunderstanding of the location of the fixture.
In an embodiment, the second fixture is similar to the first fixture and the plate is provided with a second hole through which the second fixture is operable from the top surface of the platform. First and second securing means are provided at opposite ends of the platform for securing the plate members to opposite ends of the ladder sections.
In an embodiment, both the first and second fixtures comprise latches, wherein the latches of the second fixture are similar to the latches of the first fixture, and the plate is provided with a second hole through which the second fixture is operable from the top side of the platform.
In an embodiment, the gripper portion has a guide surface facing away from the bottom surface of the plate. In such embodiments, the guide surface extends at an angle to the bottom surface of the panel such that when the latch is in the locked position and the panel is lowered onto the folding ladder section, contact between the guide surface and the first step causes the first step to push the latch to the unlocked position.
In such embodiments, when the panel is lowered onto the ladder, the latch automatically moves to the unlocked position if the latch is still in the locked position. Thus, the securing means does not prevent the plate from being lowered onto the ladder and the latch is moved without damage during lowering of the plate onto the ladder.
In an embodiment, the second and optionally the first fixtures are configured such that each is capable of pivotally moving the plate member relative to a moving member (sport) to which they are engaged. Thus, when the second securing means engages the rung of the ladder section, the plate may pivot about the movement engaged by the second securing means to lower the end of the plate onto the ladder section together with the second securing means and such that the guide surface of the first securing means engages the rung. Subsequently, the rungs push against the guiding surfaces, which moves the first fixture from the locked position to the unlocked position and lowers the platform onto the rungs of the ladder section. The securing means may then be moved to a locked position, for example hooked under the rung, to secure the platform to the ladder section.
In an alternative embodiment, the securing means is not capable of pivoting the plates relative to the steps they engage. In such embodiments, the platform is lowered onto the ladder with the plates parallel to the ladder sections. In this embodiment, both fixtures accommodate the moving parts simultaneously, and may engage the corresponding moving parts simultaneously.
In an embodiment, the guide surface and the bottom surface of the plate enclose an angle between 40 degrees and 80 degrees, such as an angle between 45 degrees and 75 degrees. The inclined guide surface allows the landing to be pressed against the step with little force, pushing the gripper portion and thus the latch to the unlocked position. This enables the platform to be easily installed from above.
In an embodiment, the plate is provided with locking holes in order to be able to fix the fixation means in the locked position. A locking aperture is provided in the panel such that when the first securing means is in the locked position, the locking body is placed into and through the locking aperture, which causes the locking body to engage the latch and causes the locking body to prevent the latch from moving out of the locked position. Thus, the locking body locks the first fixture in the locked state. Further, such an embodiment enables locking and unlocking of the fixation device by inserting and removing the locking body from the top side of the plate, respectively.
When the first securing device is in the locked position, a locking body (e.g., a pin or a combination of a metal t-bar and padlock) is placed into and through the locking aperture, the locking body engaging the latch and preventing the latch from moving out of the locked position. This enables the user to lock the panel to the folding ladder, thereby making the theft platform cumbersome.
In an embodiment, the locking hole is disposed behind the latch of the first securing device when the latch is in the locked position. In an alternative embodiment, the securing means is further provided with a locking hole which overlaps with a locking hole in the plate member when the securing means is in the locked position. In such embodiments, the securing device is locked in the locked position by inserting a locking body (e.g., a pin) into both the locking aperture in the plate and the locking aperture of the latch.
In an embodiment, the first securing means comprises a latch comprising a hole or recess for manually engaging the latch, and the hole or recess overlaps with the hole in the panel when the latch is in the locked position and when the latch is in the unlocked position.
This arrangement enables the platform to be locked by using a locking body which fills at least a portion of the aperture or recess in the latch and at least a portion of the aperture in the plate when the latch is in the locked position, such that the locking body locks the first securing means in the locked state, thereby preventing accidental movement of the latch.
In an embodiment, the assembly comprises a locking body having a shape that fits at least a portion of the aperture or recess in the latch and at least a portion of the aperture in the plate when the latch is in the locked position to lock the first securing device in the locked position.
In an embodiment, the width of the plate is equal to the distance between stiles of the folding ladder. This enables the panel to be secured by the stile of the folding ladder in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the stile. Locking the panels between the stiles thus limits the movement of the platform and thus improves safety. Furthermore, in such a configuration, the first and second securing means need only secure the plate member in a direction parallel to the stiles of the ladder to secure the position of the platform relative to the ladder.
In another embodiment, the plate has a length similar to the length of the bridge sections of the ladder such that the platform and the second similar platform can be mounted on the first and second bridge sections of the folding ladder, respectively, and the plate together extends along the combined length of the two bridge sections.
In another embodiment, the height of the panels is equal to or lower than the distance between the edge of the stile and the surface of the steps so that the panels and a second similar panel can be mounted on the first and second bridge sections of the folding ladder and the bridge sections can still be folded onto each other so that the top surfaces of the panels face each other. Thus, the folding ladder is foldable, and the panels are attached to the folding ladder so that, for example, the folding ladder can be stored in a folded position without having to dismantle the platform.
In an embodiment, the first securing device includes a housing, and the latch is movably mounted in the housing. In another embodiment, the first fixture is mounted to the plate with a housing.
In an embodiment, the first securing means comprises a spring element and a spring element securing member, such as a pin or a cavity. The spring element connects the spring element retainer and the latch such that the spring element forces the latch in the locked position. This allows the platform to be self-securing once it is brought into the correct position on the folding ladder. Thus, the platform is easier to use. This embodiment is particularly advantageous in case the securing means comprise such a latch: the latch has a gripper portion with a guide surface extending at an angle to the bottom surface of the panel such that when the latch is in the locked position and the panel is lowered onto the folding ladder section, the first guide surface and the first step cause the latch to be moved to the unlocked position and then the spring urges the latch to the locked position. This further facilitates mounting the platform on the ladder.
In an embodiment, the plate covers at least three steps when the platform is mounted on the bridge section, and at least one of the steps covered by the plate is located between the step engaged by the first securing means and one side of the platform. It is possible that two steps are engaged by the securing means and at least one step is located between the engaged steps.
In an embodiment, the aperture of the plate is open on one side. Preferably, at least a portion of the first securing means extends between the sides of the plate member to form a closed aperture.
In an embodiment, the platform is a first platform and the assembly further comprises a second platform, and in use, the first platform is mounted on one of the bridge sections and the second platform is mounted on the other of the bridge sections.
In another embodiment, the plate of the first platform is longer than the plate of the second platform, and the plate of the first platform overlaps the bridge section to which the second platform is mounted when the first and second platforms are mounted on the bridge section. In such embodiments, the first platform is fixed to both the first and second bridge sections, which may enhance the overall rigidity of the scaffold.
In an embodiment, the platform is provided with three or more fixtures positioned on the plate to each engage a different rung of the ladder.
The utility model further provides a platform for providing an assembly according to any of the preceding claims.
The utility model further provides a platform for use in combination with a ladder providing an assembly according to the utility model.
In an embodiment according to the utility model, the platform comprises:
a plate member provided with first and second fixing means for fixing the plate member to the folding ladder,
wherein the plate has a top surface and a bottom surface and the platform is configured to rest with its bottom surface on the steps between stiles of the bridge section of the folding ladder to enable a person to stand on the top surface of the bridge plate,

The latch 16 is further provided with a gripper portion 18, the gripper portion 18 being adapted to engage the first step 8 of the folding ladder 2 on which the panel 9 rests when the latch is in the locked position, thereby securing the panel to the folding ladder 2, and the gripper portion 18 being adapted to disengage the step 8 when the latch is in the unlocked position, so that the panel 9 can be removed from the folding ladder 2.
In the embodiment shown, the aperture 14 of the plate 9 is shaped and positioned relative to the first fixing means 10 to display the control portion 17 of the latch 16 from the top side of the plate (i.e. the top surface 12 side) at least when in the locked position.
Fig. 6 shows a schematic top perspective view of the platform 3 with the latch 16 in the locked position and the control portion 17 of the latch 16 visible through the aperture 15 to provide visual confirmation to the user that the latch 16 is in the locked position and thereby secure the platform 3 to the folding ladder 2.
Fig. 2 to 4 show a close-up schematic view of an embodiment of the first fastening device 10. Fig. 2 shows the fixture 10 alone. Fig. 3 and 4 illustrate the fixation device in use with the latch 16 of the fixation device 10 in a disengaged position and an engaged position, respectively.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the holder part 18 has a guide surface 19. The guide surface 19 faces away from the bottom surface 13 of the plate member 9. Furthermore, the guiding surface 19 extends at an angle to the bottom surface 13 of the plate 9, such that when the latch 16 is in the locked position and the plate 9 is lowered onto the bridge section 6 of the folding ladder 2, see fig. 5, the contact between the guiding surface 19 and the first step 8 causes the first step to push the latch into the unlocked position.
In fig. 3, the fixing device 10 is shown just after the platform 3 has been placed on the bridge section 6 of the folding ladder 2. The latch 16 is in the unlatched position.
Fig. 4 shows the fixture 10 with the latch 16 in the locked position. In this position, the gripper portion 18 engages the steps 8 of the folding ladder 2, thereby securing the landing 3 to the folding ladder 2.
In the illustrated embodiment, the latch 16 has a hole 21 for manually engaging the latch. The aperture 21 overlaps the aperture 14 in the plate 9 when the latch is in the locked position (see fig. 6) and when the latch is in the unlocked position.
In an alternative embodiment, the latch is not provided with a hole (i.e. a through opening in the latch), but is provided with a recess. In such embodiments, the recess overlaps the aperture in the plate when the latch is in the locked position and when the latch is in the unlocked position.
In the embodiment shown, the first fixing means 10 comprise a spring element and a spring element holder. In the illustrated embodiment, the spring element is mounted in a channel within the latch 16. The spring engages the end of a spring element mount in the form of a pin 22, the pin 22 being part of the housing 20. The pin 22 has an end that is received in a channel of the latch 16 such that a spring in the channel is located between the latch and the pin 22, pushing the latch away from the pin, i.e., pushing the latch to the locked position, see fig. 4.
Fig. 5 shows the manner in which the landing 3 is placed on the folding ladder 2, wherein during placement the guide surface 19 of the latch 16 of the landing 3 engages the step 8 and the step thereby pushes the latch to the unlocked position.
Fig. 6 shows the top side of the plate from which a person can operate the first fastening means. Through the aperture of the plate it is seen that the securing means is in its locked position. By operating the securing means from the top surface of the plate member, the person unlocks the securing means and can then lift the platform from the position where the platform is located.
Fig. 7 shows the platform 3 of the assembly 1 of fig. 1 in an installed state from below. The two platforms 3 are provided with two similar fastening means 10, 11. In a specific embodiment, the plate covers three steps when the platform is mounted on the bridge section. In these embodiments, two of the steps are engaged by the first and second securing means and one of the steps is located between the steps engaged by the first securing means and the second securing means.
In the particular embodiment shown, the plate 9 has a length and a width, and said width is equal to the distance between stiles 7 of the folding ladder 2, see for example fig. 6. This enables the plate 9 to be secured by the stile 7 of the folding ladder in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the stile 7. Locking the plate 9 between the stiles thus limits the movement of the platform and thus improves safety. Furthermore, in such a configuration, the first and second fixing means 10, 11 need only fix the plate member 9 in a direction parallel to the stile 7 of the folding ladder 2 to fix the position of the platform 3 relative to the folding ladder 2.
In the embodiment shown, the plate 9 has a lower height than the distance between the edge of the stile 7 and the surface of the step 8. Furthermore, the length of the plate 9 is similar to the length of the bridge section 6 of the folding ladder 2, so that the plate and a second similar plate can be mounted on the first and second bridge sections of the ladder, respectively, and the bridge sections can still be folded onto each other, so that the top surfaces of the plates face each other. This configuration of the assembly is shown in fig. 8, i.e. the folding ladder is in a folded state.
In an embodiment, the assembly further comprises a locking body for securing the latch of the securing device in the locked position, thereby securing the securing device in the locked state.
In an embodiment, the platform includes a locking aperture in the plate, the locking aperture and the locking body being configured such that the locking body is placed into and through the locking aperture when the first securing means is in the locked position, the locking body engaging the latch and preventing the latch from moving out of the locked position. Thus, the locking body locks the fixation device in the locked state.
By securing the latch in the locked position to lock the first securing means in the locked state, personnel may prevent other personnel from operating the platform, e.g. preventing undesired removal of the plate from the ladder.
In an embodiment, the aperture in the plate (for engaging the latch) is sized for receiving one or more fingers for manipulation, i.e., to move the latch to the unlocked position. In embodiments, the aperture is configured to not accommodate all of the fingers, but only one or more fingers. In such embodiments, the apertures may be used to lift the platform from its position on the moving member of the ladder, with the plate being removed from the ladder, for example by engaging the plate with both hands, each hand engaging an edge of the plate of the platform.
