Abstract
The present invention relates to a polygonal connector, which comprises a male connector and a female connector. The male head comprises a first body with a polygon shape, a first terminal and a plurality of first extending pieces. The female seat comprises a second body and a fourth body which are provided with polygons. The second body further comprises a plurality of moving grooves, a plurality of second terminal grooves and a plurality of second terminals. The fourth body further comprises a plurality of fourth extending pieces and a plurality of fourth terminal grooves. The second terminal grooves and the fourth terminal grooves are used for arranging a plurality of second terminals. The plurality of first extending pieces and the plurality of fourth extending pieces are arranged corresponding to the plurality of moving grooves. The fourth body floats on the second body through a plurality of second terminals. The first body is combined with the fourth body, so that the plurality of second terminals are electrically connected with the plurality of first terminals.

To achieve the above and other objects, the present invention provides a polygonal connector for connecting a first printed circuit board and a second printed circuit board. The polygonal connector comprises a male head and a female seat. The male connector includes a first body and a first terminal. The first body is provided with a plurality of first sides, and the first sides respectively form a first terminal groove for arranging a first terminal. The first body further comprises a plurality of first extending pieces, and each first extending piece is arranged between the first side edges. The female seat comprises a second body and a fourth body. The second body forms a second space for accommodating the fourth body. The fourth body forms a fourth space for arranging the male head. The second body further comprises a plurality of moving grooves, a plurality of second terminal grooves and a plurality of second terminals. The plurality of moving grooves are arranged corresponding to the plurality of first extending pieces. The fourth body further comprises a plurality of fourth extending pieces and a plurality of fourth terminal grooves, the fourth body is provided with a plurality of second side edges corresponding to the plurality of first side edges, and the plurality of second side edges form the plurality of fourth terminal grooves respectively. The second terminal grooves and the fourth terminal grooves are used for arranging a plurality of second terminals. The plurality of fourth extending pieces are arranged corresponding to the plurality of moving grooves. The fourth body floats on the second body through a plurality of second terminals. The first body is combined with the fourth body, so that the plurality of second terminals are electrically connected with the plurality of first terminals.
Compared with the conventional connector, the polygonal connector provided by the present invention can electrically connect the first printed circuit board to the second printed circuit board easily only through the above position in the process of connecting the male connector and the female connector, and can be applied to the application fields of modular display panels, vehicles, etc.

Please refer to fig. 1, which is a schematic perspective view of a polygonal connector according to a first embodiment of the present invention. In fig. 1, a polygonal connector 10 is capable of connecting a first printed circuit board 2 with a second printed circuit board 4.
Reference is also made to fig. 2a to 2c, which are detailed illustrations of the polygonal connector of the invention of fig. 1. Fig. 2a is a first perspective view illustrating the polygonal connector of fig. 1, fig. 2b is a second perspective view illustrating the polygonal connector of fig. 1, and fig. 2c is a third perspective view illustrating the polygonal connector of fig. 1.
The polygonal connector 10 includes a male connector 12 and a female socket having a second body 142 and a fourth body 144. By combining the male part 12 with the second body 142 and the fourth body 144, the male part 12 can move in the X-axis, the Y-axis, the Z-axis, and components thereof due to the floating nature of the fourth body 144 and the second body 142.
Also, refer to fig. 3a to 3c, which are schematic diagrams illustrating details of the male part of fig. 2a of the present creation. FIG. 3a is a first perspective view illustrating the creation of the male part of FIG. 2a, FIG. 3b is a second perspective view illustrating the creation of the male part of FIG. 2a, and FIG. 3c is a third perspective view illustrating the creation of the male part of FIG. 2 a.
Fig. 4a to 4b are also referenced to illustrate details of the disclosure of fig. 2 a. FIG. 4a is a fourth perspective view illustrating the creation of the male header of FIG. 2a and FIG. 4b is a fifth perspective view illustrating the creation of the male header of FIG. 2 a.
The male portion 12 includes a first body 122 and a first terminal 124. The first body 122 has a plurality of first sides, which refer to four sides of the first body 122, in the embodiment, the number of the first sides is illustrated by taking four as an example, that is, there are four first sides, which is a quadrangle or a square. In other embodiments, the number of first sides may be unlimited, i.e., not limited to a square or a quadrilateral. In another embodiment, the length of each first side edge may be the same, i.e. a regular polygon. Also, each of the first sides forms a first terminal groove 1228 to dispose the first terminal 124. Here, the number of the first terminals 124 may be unlimited, and one end of the first terminal 124 is connected to the first printed circuit board 2 and the other end of the first terminal 124 for connecting the second terminal 146 mentioned later. The first body 122 further includes first extending members 126, each of the first extending members 126 is disposed between a plurality of first sides, and the first extending members 126 extend from a diagonal line of the first body 122.
In this embodiment, the male portion 122 may further include a first notch 128 and a first fixing element 1210. The number of the first notches 128 and the number of the first fixing elements 1210 are four, respectively. Here, the first notch 128 is disposed corresponding to the first extending member 126, and the first notch 128 can clamp the first fixing member 1210 in a gap (not shown) of the first notch 128 by being inserted into the gap, such as the first notch 128. The first fixing member 1210 is disposed in the first notch 128 to fix the first body 122 to the first pcb 2, for example, by soldering the first body 122 to the first pcb 2 by means of the first fixing member 1210. The first fixing member 1210 may be an L-shaped metal bracket.
In the embodiment, the first body 122 of the male part 12 further includes a first strengthening member 1222, which, in addition to enhancing the structural strength of the first body 122, can be combined with a second strengthening member 1444 formed by the later-mentioned fourth body 144, so that the first body 122 is fixed on the fourth body 144 by the first strengthening member 1222 combining the second strengthening member 1444. Here, the first stiffener 1222 is illustrated as an opening and the second stiffener is illustrated as a bump. The number of the openings of the first stiffener 1222 and the number of the bumps of the second stiffener 1444 are four, respectively, but in other embodiments, the number may not be limited.
In the embodiment, the first body 122 further includes a first engaging member 1224, wherein the first engaging member 1224 is formed between the first body 122 and the first extending member 126. The first joint 1224 is used to correspond to the second joint 1446 formed on the fourth body 144, and the first joint 1224 is combined with the second joint 1446, so that the first body 122 is fixed on the fourth body 144. Here, the first engagement member 1224 is illustrated as a groove and the second engagement member 1448 is illustrated as a rib. The number of the grooves and the ribs is 4 for illustration, and in other embodiments, the number is not limited.
In this embodiment, the first body 122 further includes a third engaging member 1226, where the third engaging member 1226 is formed on the first extending member 126. The third engaging member 1226 is used to correspond to the fourth engaging member 1448 of the fourth body 144, wherein the fourth engaging member 1448 is also formed on the fourth extending member 1442, and the fourth engaging member 1448 is combined with the third engaging member 1226, so that the first body 122 is fixed to the fourth body 144. Here, the third engagement member 1226 is illustrated as a rib and the fourth engagement member 1448 is illustrated as a groove. The number of the grooves and the ribs is 4 for illustration, and in other embodiments, the number is not limited. In addition, the first joint member 1224 and the third joint member 1226 may be both a groove or a rib, as long as the first joint member 1224 and the third joint member 1226 can be combined with the second joint member 1446 and the fourth joint member 1448, respectively.
In the embodiment, the first body 122 may further form a first guiding portion 1221 between the first side edges, where the first guiding portion 1221 may be a curved surface, and in another embodiment, a design of a guiding corner or an inclined surface may also be provided below the first guiding portion 1221, so as to form a second guiding portion 14412 between the second side edges corresponding to the fourth body 144, so that the first body 122 can be smoothly combined in the process of being guided to the fourth body 144 toward the second body. It should be noted that the first guiding portion 1221 of the first body 122 and the second guiding portion 14412 of the fourth body 144 may be formed on other portions besides the positions shown in the drawings, as long as the male head 12 can be smoothly combined with the second body 142 and/or the fourth body 144 of the female socket. Therefore, in addition to the design that the first side and the second side have the chamfered corners, for example, the inner wall of the first space SP1 located in the first body 122 also has the first guiding portion 1221, the first reinforcing member 1222 of the first body 122, the second reinforcing member 1444 of the fourth body 144, the first notch 128 of the first body 122, the second notch 1424 of the second body 142, and the like.
Fig. 5a to 5b are schematic diagrams illustrating the second body and the second terminal of fig. 2a according to the present invention. Fig. 5a is a first perspective view illustrating the second body and the second terminal of fig. 2a of the present creation, and fig. 5b is a second perspective view illustrating the second body and the second terminal of fig. 2a of the present creation.
Reference is also made to fig. 6a to 6b, which are detailed views illustrating the fourth body of fig. 2a according to the present invention. The second body 142 forms a second space SP2 to accommodate the fourth body 144 and the fourth body 144 forms a fourth space SP4 to arrange the male head 12, and it should be noted that the portion of the fourth space SP4 includes a groove formed beside the second reinforcement 1444 in addition to the second reinforcement 1444. Here, the second reinforcement 1444 may also have a second guide 14412.
The second body 142 further includes a moving slot 1428, a second terminal slot 1422 and a second terminal 146. The second body 142 is also polygonal and corresponds to the fourth body 144 and the first body 122. Here, the second body 142 and the fourth body 144 are illustrated as quadrangles.
The moving groove 1428 is formed in the second space SP2 of the second body 142 to correspond to the fourth extending member 1442 of the fourth body 144 and the first extending member 126 of the first body 122. The moving groove 1428 serves as a space for the first extension 126. Here, the moving groove 1428 may also form the stopper 14282. The stopper 14282 partitions the moving groove 1428 into two spaces, one space is used as an escape space for the first extending member 126, and the other space is used for disposing the fourth extending member 1442 to limit the fourth body 144 at the second space SP 2. The second terminal groove 1422 is formed at a side of the second body 142. The second terminal 146 is disposed in the second terminal groove 1422, and one end of the second terminal 146 is capable of connecting the second printed circuit board 4 and the other end of the second terminal 146 is capable of electrically connecting one end of the first terminal 124.
In the embodiment, the second body 142 further includes a second notch 1424 and a second fixing member 1426. The second gap 1424 is disposed corresponding to the second extending member 1442, and the second fixing member 1426 is disposed in the second gap 1424 to fix the second body 142 to the second pcb 2. For reference, the contents of the first notch 128 and the first fixing element 1210 can be referred to in the related description, which is not repeated herein. Here, the second gap 1424 extends from the second body 142 in a direction and protrudes out of the surface of the second body 142, so that the first printed circuit board 2 and the second printed circuit board 4 can be protected from being damaged by overvoltage during plugging through the polygonal connector 10 when the first printed circuit board 2 is assembled with the second printed circuit board 4.
The fourth body 144 further includes a fourth extending member 1442 and a fourth terminal groove 14410. The fourth body 144 further includes a second side corresponding to the first side, where the second side is illustrated by four examples, and the description thereof is the same as the first side, which is not repeated herein. In another embodiment, the length of each second side edge may be the same, i.e. a regular polygon. In addition, the second side edge forms a fourth terminal groove 14410 corresponding to the second terminal groove 1422, and a second terminal 146 is further disposed, wherein the second terminal 146 allows the other end of the second terminal 146 to be electrically connected to one end of the first terminal 124 through the fourth terminal groove 14410, and due to the structural design of the second terminal 146, especially having the elastic portion 14222, the fourth body 144 floats on the second body 142 through the second terminal 146, that is, the fourth body 144 can move in the directions including but not limited to the first direction D1, the second direction D2, the third direction D3, the fourth direction D4, and the other directions, after the first body 122 is combined with the fourth body 144, the second terminal 146 can be electrically connected to the first terminal 124, as shown in fig. 7, which is a detailed connection diagram illustrating the first terminal and the second terminal of fig. 2 a. Also, the fourth extending member 1442 is disposed corresponding to the moving groove 1428 such that the fourth extending member 1442 is stopped at the moving groove 1428.

Claims (11)
1. A polygonal connector for connecting a first printed circuit board to a second printed circuit board, the polygonal connector comprising:
the male connector comprises a first body and a first terminal, wherein the first body is provided with a plurality of first side edges, the first side edges form first terminal grooves respectively for arranging the first terminal, the first body further comprises a plurality of first extending pieces, and each first extending piece is arranged between the first side edges; and
the female seat is provided with a second body and a fourth body, the second body forms a second space for accommodating the fourth body, the fourth body forms a fourth space, the fourth space is used for arranging the male connector, the second body further comprises a plurality of moving grooves, a plurality of second terminal grooves and a plurality of second terminals, the moving grooves are arranged corresponding to the first extending pieces, and the fourth body further comprises a plurality of fourth extending members and a plurality of fourth terminal grooves, and the fourth body has a plurality of second side edges corresponding to the plurality of first side edges, the second sides are respectively formed with a plurality of fourth terminal grooves, the second terminal grooves and the fourth terminal grooves are used for arranging the second terminals, the plurality of fourth extending pieces are arranged corresponding to the plurality of moving grooves, and the fourth body floats on the second body through the plurality of second terminals;
the first body is combined with the fourth body, so that the plurality of second terminals are electrically connected with the plurality of first terminals.
2. The polygonal connector of claim 1 wherein the length of each of the first sides is the same and the length of each of the second sides is the same.
3. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the number of each of the first sides and each of the second sides is four, and the length of each of the first sides and each of the second sides is the same.
4. The polygonal connector of claim 1 wherein the male connector further comprises a plurality of first notches and a plurality of first fasteners, the plurality of first notches are disposed corresponding to the plurality of first extending members, the plurality of first fasteners are disposed in the first notches for fastening the first body to the first pcb.
5. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the second body further comprises a plurality of second notches and a plurality of second fixing members, the plurality of second notches are disposed corresponding to the plurality of second extending members, the plurality of second fixing members are disposed at the second notches for fixing the second body to the second pcb, wherein the plurality of second notches selectively extend from the second body in a direction to protrude out of a surface of the second body.
6. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein each of the second terminals has an elastic portion disposed between the plurality of second terminal grooves and the plurality of fourth terminal grooves so that the fourth body moves in the second space.
7. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the first body has a first reinforcement member and the fourth body has a second reinforcement member, the second reinforcement member being combined by the first reinforcement member so that the first body is fixed to the fourth body.
8. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the first body further comprises a first engaging member and the fourth body further comprises a second engaging member, the second engaging member being combined by the first engaging member so that the first body is fixed to the fourth body.
9. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the first body further comprises a third engaging member, and the fourth body further comprises a fourth engaging member, the third engaging member being formed at the first extending member and the fourth engaging member being formed at the fourth extending member, the fourth engaging member being combined by the third engaging member so that the first body is fixed to the fourth body.
10. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the first body forms a first guide and the fourth body forms a second guide corresponding to the first guide, so that the first body is guided to the fourth body.
11. The polygonal connector according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of moving grooves form a plurality of stoppers which partition the plurality of moving grooves into two spaces, one of the spaces being used as an escape space for the plurality of first extending pieces, and the other of the spaces being used for disposing the plurality of fourth extending pieces to confine the fourth body in the second space.
