Description

Cosmetic product package
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates generally to cosmetic packaging; and more particularly to flip-close cosmetic packages.
Background
Cosmetics for cosmetic purposes in humans are well known and have been used by humans for thousands of years. Such cosmetics are provided in various types of packaging (such as paper, plastic or fabric packaging) for providing protection to the cosmetic product as it flows from the cosmetic manufacturer to the end consumer. However, many consumers (users) dispose of the cosmetic package after initial use. Moreover, such packages are either not transparent and therefore result in a reduction in the visibility of the product, or are transparent, exposing the cosmetic products to harmful ultraviolet radiation that may damage them.
Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the sustainable use of resources, with an emphasis on reducing waste, particularly plastic waste, and encouraging its recycling and re-use. Furthermore, if the cosmetic package is designed to have a use beyond the purpose of transportation, it is unlikely that the user will discard the package. In particular, if the cosmetic package is available to the user for other purposes, the package will more likely be retained. However, such multi-purpose packages are more expensive to manufacture and are therefore not used by manufacturers.
Accordingly, there is a need for an improved cosmetic package.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
The present disclosure aims to provide an improved cosmetic package that provides a solution to the prior art problems (waste and improper waste management of cosmetic packages).
In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a cosmetic package, wherein the cosmetic package is manufactured as an elongated package having a plurality of planar side panels (side panels), a first end panel, and a second end panel;
wherein the second end panel is embodied as a lid pivotably attached to at least a first planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels, wherein the lid comprises a distal finger-slidable flap panel that is snappable into a retention slot formed on at least a second planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels;
wherein the elongated package encloses an interior area for containing one or more cosmetic products, the one or more cosmetic products being accessible to a user when the distal finger-slidable flip panel is slid with a finger out of the retention slot to pivot the lid to the open position,
and wherein the first planar side panel is arranged to be reflective for use in applying one or more cosmetic products.
According to a further aspect, the distal end of the cap is curved radially outward with a first radius and the retaining groove is curved with a second radius, wherein the first radius and the second radius are the same as each other such that when the distal end of the cap is slid with a finger to cover the retaining groove, the distal end of the cap covers the retaining groove in a curved manner.
According to a further aspect, the elongated package comprises an internal divider in an interior region thereof for containing the one or more cosmetic products in a spatially independent manner, wherein the internal divider is integral with the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, and the second end panel, wherein the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, and the second end panel are formed from a single sheet of material during manufacture.
According to a further aspect, the monolithic materials are adhesively bonded in at least a portion of their surface area.
According to a further aspect, the elongated package is made of a liquid absorbent material, and the internal divider separates the one or more cosmetics to reduce smearing or cross-contamination between the one or more cosmetics when stored in the cosmetic package.
According to a further aspect, the inner partition defines a plurality of elongated compartments for containing the one or more cosmetic products.
According to a further aspect, the adhesive bond is disposed along an elongated planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels to provide rigidity to the cosmetic package, and a distal planar panel of the inner divider is adhesively bonded to the same planar side panel that forms the retention slot.
According to a further aspect, the portion of the internal partition close to the lid is free of a distal planar plate adhesively bonded to the planar side plate forming the retaining slot.
According to a further aspect, the second planar side panel is arranged to have a compartment thereon for containing one or more disposable wipes.
According to a further aspect, at least one of the plurality of planar side panels is made of at least one flexible plastic material that transmits electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength range to which the human eye responds but attenuates radiation in the ultraviolet electromagnetic wavelength range.
According to a further aspect, one of the plurality of planar side panels is arranged to have an elastic band thereon, the elastic band being configured to secure one or more objects therein.
According to a further aspect, the distal finger-slidable flap plate of the cover is provided with a friction enhancing surface modification on its outwardly facing surface, the friction enhancing surface modification enhancing finger frictional adhesion on the distal finger-slidable flap plate.
According to a further aspect, the elongated package has a length in the range of 10cm to 18cm, a first transverse width in the range of 2cm to 6cm, and a second transverse width in the range of 1cm to 3cm when in the closed state.
Embodiments of the present disclosure substantially eliminate or at least partially solve the above-mentioned problems of the prior art and allow for substantially reducing the waste of resources used in manufacturing the cosmetic package. Specifically, cosmetic packages provide utility to users of cosmetics by acting as a mirror for use when applying the cosmetics, thereby encouraging users not to discard the package. Furthermore, the package is economical and also not bulky, since one of the planar side panels is made reflective rather than incorporating a mirror into the package. In addition, cosmetic packages are more attractive, durable, and practical for users, for example, for storing, transporting, and protecting cosmetics therein.

Detailed Description
The following detailed description illustrates embodiments of the disclosure and the manner in which they can be practiced. Although some modes of carrying out the disclosure have been disclosed, those skilled in the art will recognize that other embodiments for carrying out or practicing the disclosure are possible.
In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a cosmetic package, wherein the cosmetic package is manufactured as an elongated package having a plurality of planar side panels, a first end panel, and a second end panel;
wherein the second end panel is embodied as a cover pivotably attached to at least a first of the plurality of planar side panels, wherein the cover comprises a distal finger-slidable flap panel that is snappable into a retaining slot formed on at least a second of the plurality of planar side panels;
wherein the elongated package encloses an interior area for containing one or more cosmetic products that are accessible to a user when the distal finger-slidable flip panel is slid with a finger out of the retention slot to pivot the lid to the open condition, and,
wherein the first planar side panel is arranged to be reflective for use in applying one or more cosmetic products.
The present disclosure provides a cosmetic package. The cosmetic package is cost effective and user friendly in operation. Such a cosmetic package allows a given user to conveniently store and access the cosmetic product stored therein while providing enhanced protection for the cosmetic product from possible physical and/or accidental damage. The cosmetic package can be manufactured using fewer resources and is reusable and recyclable. In particular, cosmetic packages are aesthetically appealing to users and provide a user of the cosmetic with a use by acting as a mirror for applying the cosmetic, whereby the user retains the package for later use for other purposes, rather than promptly discarding the package after initial use. Therefore, the cosmetic package is more environmentally friendly. Furthermore, since one of the planar side panels is manufactured to be reflective rather than incorporating a mirror into the package, the package is not bulky and economical to manufacture.
Throughout this disclosure, the term "cosmetic" refers to synthetic chemical cosmetics or naturally based cosmetics, such as lipsticks, eyeliners, hand creams, face creams, and the like, that a given user uses for aesthetic purposes. Generally, a user applies one or more cosmetic products to himself/herself to improve his/her visual appearance. Typically, one or more cosmetic products have a body in the form of a bottle, pouch, tube, cylindrical container, or the like. The body of one or more cosmetic products is made of a material such as glass, a plastic material, fibers, or any other material capable of containing one or more cosmetic products within the body.
Throughout this disclosure, the term "cosmetic package" refers to an outer covering (i.e., packaging) employed to store, transport, and protect one or more cosmetics. It should be noted that cosmetic packaging refers to the outer covering of one or more cosmetics for the distribution, storage, sale and use thereof. Cosmetic packages are designed to open and close for storage or access of one or more cosmetics. Advantageously, the cosmetic package protects the one or more cosmetics from any damage caused by physical impact (e.g., dropping, crushing, rough handling, rubbing against surfaces or other objects, etc.) as well as any other unexpected factors (e.g., thermal damage, spill damage, etc.). In addition, the cosmetic package may also help to extend the shelf life of one or more cosmetics disposed therein.
Cosmetic packages are manufactured as elongated packages. The term "elongated package" refers to a package having a given length and a given width, wherein the given length is substantially longer than the given width. It should be noted that the shape and size of the elongated package is selected according to the shape and size of the one or more cosmetic products so as to properly contain the one or more cosmetic products therein. Further, the elongated packages have a three-dimensional geometry, such as a cuboid, a cube, a polygonal prism (such as a hexagonal prism, a pentagonal prism), a pyramid, and the like.
Optionally, the elongated package is made of at least one of a paper material, a cardboard material. The paperboard material may be cardstock, cardboard, corrugated board, honeycomb board material, and the like. It should be noted that such materials are lightweight, readily available, easily handled, and inexpensive. Advantageously, such materials are also environmentally friendly and can be easily reused and/or recycled.
Optionally, the elongated package is made of a combination of paper material and cardboard material. Alternatively, optionally, the elongated package is made of at least one of: plastic, non-metallic (e.g., wood), metallic materials.
As previously described, the elongated package has a plurality of planar side panels, a first end panel and a second end panel. The term "planar side panel" refers to a substantially flat member forming an elongated portion of an elongated package, and "first end panel" and "second end panel" refer to substantially flat members forming first and second ends of a cosmetic package. It should be noted that the plurality of planar side panels are arranged to form the length of the elongated package, while the first end panel and the second end panel are arranged to form the width of the elongated package. Optionally, the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, and the second end panel of the elongated package collectively form a container-like arrangement that may be used to store one or more cosmetic products therein while providing protection to the one or more cosmetic products. In one example, the cosmetic package may be manufactured as an elongated cuboid package. In such examples, the elongated package may have four planar side panels, a first end panel and a second end panel, wherein all of the panels are rectangular in shape.
Optionally, the first end plate is implemented as a planar cover. In this case, the planar cover permanently covers the first end of the cosmetic package. Further, the shape and size of the planar cover corresponds to the shape and size of the first end of the cosmetic package. Advantageously, such a planar cover provides rigidity to the cosmetic package.
Alternatively, optionally, the first end panel is implemented as a foldable cover pivotably coupled to any one of the planar side panels, and the second end panel is implemented as a cover pivotably attached to at least a first planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels. It should be noted that the foldable cover serves as a removable cover for the cosmetic package and the cover serves as a cover for the elongated package, such cover being pivotably attached to the elongated package at least along the first planar side. The collapsible cover and the lid may be pivotally movable to cover the first end and the second end, respectively, of the cosmetic package for fully enclosing the one or more cosmetics therein. Alternatively, the collapsible cover and the lid may be pivotally movable to expose the first and second ends, respectively, for accessing one or more cosmetics products from the first and second ends, respectively, of the cosmetic package.
The cover includes a distal finger slidable flip panel that snaps into a retention slot formed on at least a second planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels; the term "finger-slidable flap" refers to a substantially planar flap of the cover that slidably snaps into the retaining slot for securing the cover in the closed state and slidably moves out of the retaining slot to bring the cover into the open state. Further, the term "retaining slot" refers to a slit formed on at least a second planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels, such slit being designed to closely receive a finger slidable flap panel therein. It should be noted that such a distal finger-slidable flap is slid with a finger into/out of the retaining slot to pivot the lid to the closed/open state. In an example, the distal finger-slidable flap may be implemented by a finger-slidable flap. In such instances, the user may use one or more fingers to snap the distal finger slidable flip card into/out of the retention slot. In another example, the distal finger slidable flap may be implemented by a thumb slidable flap. In such instances, the user may use his/her thumb to snap the distal finger slidable flip card into/out of the retention slot.
Optionally, the shape and size of the retaining slot is designed according to the shape and size of the flap in which the distal finger can slide. This design of the retaining slot will allow the distal finger slidable flap to be tightly received to bring the lid into the closed state, while also allowing the distal finger slidable flap to slide out of the retaining slot without much force and effort to bring the lid into the open state.
Optionally, the lid comprises one or more planar cover panels pivotably attached to one or more of the plurality of planar side panels. In such a case, the one or more planar cover plates are pivotally movable to cover at least a portion of the second end of the cosmetic package to form the second end panel of the cosmetic package. The one or more planar cover sheets may partially or completely cover the second end of the cosmetic package in an overlapping or non-overlapping manner. Optionally, the one or more planar cover plates have a rectangular shape, a polygonal shape, a circular shape, a hemispherical shape, an elliptical shape, a free shape, or any combination thereof.
Optionally, the one or more planar cover panels comprises a first planar cover panel, wherein a first end of the first planar cover panel is pivotably attached to a side edge of a first planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels, and wherein a second end of the first planar cover panel is pivotably attached to a distal finger slidable flap panel. Thus, the first planar cover plate serves as a proximal plate of the cap, the proximal plate being proximate to the attachment point of the cap to the first planar cover plate. It should be noted that this mutual pivotal attachment of the first planar cover plate and the distal finger-slidable flap plate allows the cover to pivotally rotate to cover the second end panel with the first planar cover plate when the distal finger-slidable flap plate is finger-slidingly entered into the retaining slot to pivot the cover to the closed condition. Optionally, the first planar cover has a rectangular shape, wherein a first end of the first planar cover is opposite to a second end of the first planar cover.
Optionally, the one or more planar cover panels comprise at least a second planar cover panel, wherein the second cover panel is pivotably attached to an edge of a planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels. It should be noted that this pivotal attachment of the second planar cover plate and the edge of the planar side plate of the plurality of planar side plates allows the second planar cover plate to pivot in such a way that it substantially covers the second end of the cosmetic package, thereby forming an additional cover-like arrangement at the second end of the cosmetic package. The at least one second planar cover plate provides an additional cover for the one or more cosmetic products and must therefore be pivotally removable to expose the second end of the cosmetic package for access to the one or more cosmetic products. It should be understood that the one or more planar cover panels may include a plurality of planar cover panels, such planar cover panels equal to or less than the plurality of planar side panels. In an example, the one or more planar cover panels may include a second planar cover panel and a third planar cover panel, wherein the second planar cover panel is pivotably attached to an edge of a third planar side panel (of the plurality of planar side panels) and the third planar cover panel is pivotably attached to an edge of a fourth planar side panel (of the plurality of planar side panels), and wherein the second planar cover panel and the third planar cover panel completely cover the second end of the cosmetic package in an overlapping manner.
Optionally, the distal end of the cap is curved radially outward with a first radius and the retention slot is curved with a second radius, wherein the first radius and the second radius are the same as each other such that when the distal end is slid by a finger to cover the retention slot, the distal end of the cap covers the retention slot in a curved manner. It should be noted that the distal end of the lid refers to the distal end of the flap on which the distal finger can slide. When the distal finger slidable flap snaps into the retention slot, such distal end will be located below the retention slot, within the interior area of the elongated package. Further, the distal end of the cap is substantially the same shape and/or size as the retaining groove; for example, "identical to each other" and "substantially identical to each other" means within +/-20% of a physical dimension, and more optionally within +/-5% of a physical dimension. Thus, the retaining groove will allow the distal end of the lid to be tightly received to bring the lid into a closed state, while also allowing the distal end of the lid to be conveniently slid out of the retaining groove to bring the lid into an open state. In one example, the cosmetic package may be manufactured as an elongated cuboid package. In such an example, the elongated package may have four planar side panels SP1, SP2, SP3 and SP4, embodied as a first end panel EP1 and a second end panel EP2 of the lid. Further, in such an example, the elongated package may have a retention slot formed on at least a second planar side panel (e.g., planar side panel SP2) of the four planar side panels SP 1-SP 4. Further, in such an example, the distal end of the cap may be curved radially outward at a first radius, and the retention groove may be curved at a second radius that is the same as each other as the first radius. In such an example, the distal finger slidable flap may have a length significantly greater than the distance between the second end panel EP2 and the retaining slot formed on the planar side panel SP2, for example, greater than 2mm, more optionally, greater than 5mm, and still more optionally, greater than 10 mm. Thus, when the distal end is slid by a finger to cover the holding groove, the distal end of the cover covers the holding groove in a bent manner, and the distal end of the cover can be snapped into the holding groove.
The elongated package encloses an interior area for containing one or more cosmetic products that are accessible to a user when the distal finger-slidable flap panel is slid with a finger out of the retention slot to pivot the lid to the open condition. The term "interior region" refers to a three-dimensional space within an elongated package that may contain one or more cosmetic products therein. It should be noted that the plurality of flat side panels, the first end panel and the second end panel collectively form a boundary of the interior area. One or more cosmetic products may be stored entirely within the interior region and carefully protected therein. In operation, when the distal finger slidable flip card snaps into the retention slot to pivot the cover to the closed position, the user has no access to the interior area of the cosmetic package. Further, the user may access the interior region of the cosmetic package when the distal finger slidable flip plate is slid with a finger out of the retention slot to pivot the cover to the open position. Thus, when the lid is in the closed state, the one or more cosmetics disposed within the interior area are inaccessible to the user, and when the lid is in the open state, the one or more cosmetics within the interior area are accessible to the user.
The first planar side panel is arranged to be reflective for use in applying one or more cosmetic products. It should be noted that the first planar side panel acts as a mirror for the application of cosmetics such as lipstick, eyeliner, etc. The first planar side panel is coated with a highly reflective coating that reflects light incident thereon, thereby acting as a mirror. Examples of highly reflective coatings include, but are not limited to, UV enhanced aluminum, protected silver, protected aluminum. Furthermore, the highly reflective coating does not add any additional weight or substantial manufacturing cost to the cosmetic package and further prolongs its use.
Optionally, the second planar side panel is arranged to have a compartment thereon for containing one or more disposable wipes. It will be appreciated that wipes are often required to remove or modify the application of the cosmetic. Thus, one or more disposable wipes may be held in the compartment to provide convenient access for the user. Advantageously, such a compartment further expands the use of the cosmetic package. It should be understood that the compartment may be used to contain items other than one or more disposable wipes. Alternatively, the disposable wipe is made of a biodegradable material, such as cellulose fibers, which do not cause long-term plastic particle contamination.
Optionally, at least one of the plurality of planar side panels is made of at least one flexible plastic material that transmits electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range to which the human eye responds but attenuates radiation in the Ultraviolet (UV) electromagnetic wavelength range. In particular, at least one flexible plastic material is subjected to electromagnetic radiation incident thereon in different ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. More specifically, the at least one flexible plastic material allows electromagnetic radiation in the visible wavelength range of the electromagnetic spectrum (incident thereon) to pass therethrough. However, at least one flexible plastic material absorbs or reflects electromagnetic radiation (incident thereon) in the wavelength range (100nm to 400 nm). Advantageously, the at least one flexible plastic material protects (i.e. protects) the one or more products present in the second compartment from electromagnetic radiation in the UV electromagnetic wavelength range and prevents damage to the one or more cosmetic products.
Optionally, one of the plurality of planar side panels is arranged to comprise an elastic band configured to secure one or more objects therein. It should be noted that the elastic band is made of an elastic material to tightly hold one or more objects therein. The one or more objects may be a cosmetic brush, a blended sponge, another cosmetic, etc. Further, the elastic band may be used to hang the cosmetic package from a hook or to secure it to a handbag.
Optionally, the elongated package includes an interior divider in an interior region thereof for containing one or more cosmetic products in a spatially independent manner, wherein the interior divider is optionally integral with the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, and the second end panel, wherein the panels are formed from a single sheet of material during manufacture. The term "internal partition" relates to a separation arrangement provided within an interior region of an elongated package, wherein the separation arrangement allows for the one or more cosmetic products to be contained in a spatially separated manner. The internal divider allows for the interior region of the elongated package to be divided into multiple compartments for properly organizing one or more cosmetic products within the interior region. It should be noted that the shape and size of the inner divider are selected such that the inner divider is arranged completely within the inner region of the elongated package. Optionally, the inner divider extends substantially along the longitudinal axis of the elongate package, the transverse axis of the elongate package, or a combination thereof.
As previously described, the interior divider is optionally integral with the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, and the second end panel. In this case, the internal partition is not separated from the plate because the plate and the internal partition are formed of a single piece. Thus, the internal partitions cannot be removed and/or disassembled from the above-mentioned plates.
As previously described, optionally, the plurality of planar side plates, the first end plate, the second end plate, and the interior spacer are formed from a single sheet of material during manufacture. Thus, by adopting a simple folding method, the cosmetic package is easily manufactured from a single sheet of material. In this case, a single sheet of material is folded in the following manner: all the planes of the cosmetic package are formed by different folded planes of a single sheet. This simple folding method allows for quick assembly, and thus, such cosmetic packages can be easily manufactured by employing manual labor, semi-automated machinery, or automated machinery. It should be noted that in this case, less material is used in the manufacturing process of the cosmetic package, since the components of the cosmetic package are integral with each other.
Optionally, the single sheet of material has a thickness in the range of 0.1mm to 2mm, more optionally, in the range of 0.3mm to 2 mm. Such a sheet can then be easily folded to form a cosmetic package. In an example, the thickness of a single sheet of material may be 0.1mm, 0.2mm, 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm, 1mm, 1.4mm, 1.6mm, 1.8mm, or 2 mm.
Optionally, the single sheet of material has an outer surface on which the image can be printed and can be wipe cleaned (i.e., wipe cleaned), for example, by using water, a combination of water and detergent, or an alcohol-based cleaner. In this case, the outer surface is optionally provided with a facing on which an image can be printed. Such finishes may be glossy, matte, patterned, embossed, and the like. It should be noted that the image printed on the outer surface of the sheet enhances the visual appearance of the cosmetic package. In addition, such embossed finishes may also provide assistance to visually impaired users by means of braille characters. In addition, such images may also be used to convey information to potential buyers and users of one or more cosmetics enclosed in a cosmetic package; for example, such information relates to instructions regarding the manner of use of the one or more cosmetic products. Examples of such images include, but are not limited to: a brand name and/or logo of a manufacturer of one or more cosmetics, a hue, a price, an expiration date, and/or an indication of use of the one or more cosmetics, a collection to which the one or more cosmetics belong, an image, an abstract design, a pattern, text, and one or more numeric characters. In one example, the exterior surface of the monolithic material may be provided with a gloss finish, and the brand name of the manufacturer of the one or more cosmetic products and the color tone of the one or more cosmetic products may be printed onto such exterior surface. Further, in this case, the outer surface of the single sheet of material is wipe cleanable. Optionally, for this purpose, the outer surface of the single sheet of material has a wiping cleaning surface coating thereon. Such outer surfaces may thus be wipe cleaned by dry cleaning techniques (using dry material (e.g. dry napkins or dry tissues)) or wet cleaning techniques (using abrasive moist material (e.g. moist napkins or moist cloths) or moist material (e.g. a cleaning spray)). More optionally, the wipe clean surface coating acts as a water repellent coating to allow cleaning of the exterior surface by wet cleaning techniques. In an example, the outer surface may have a wax coating thereon. Advantageously, the wax coating at least partially prevents water droplets from being absorbed in such surfaces. In another example, the outer surface may have a coating of plastic material thereon that allows a user to wipe such surface with a wet cleaning material.
Optionally, the inner surface of the single sheet may be printed with an image. This will enhance the visual appearance of the interior region of the cosmetic package.
Optionally, the elongated package is made of a liquid absorbent material and the internal divider separates the one or more cosmetics to reduce smearing or cross-contamination between the one or more cosmetics when stored in the cosmetic package. Such liquid-absorbent materials may be porous materials that absorb liquids that spill or seep from one or more cosmetic products. In this case, the thickness of the material used to make the elongated package is selected such that the elongated package prevents such liquid from spilling or seeping from the one or more cosmetic products to seep to the outer surface of the elongated package. Generally, the body of the one or more cosmetic products contains the one or more cosmetic products therein to avoid any undesirable spillage. However, in the unfortunate event of spillage or oozing of one or more cosmetic products, such absorbent porous materials of the elongated package tend to protect the cosmetic package from liquid damage or pitting. It should be noted that the liquid-absorbent material used for making the elongated packages is a cellulosic or fiber-based product, such as tissue, cotton, sponge and fluff pulp. Thus, the elongated package also protects the one or more cosmetic products from physical damage (e.g., damage caused by accidental crushing, dropping, etc.).
As previously mentioned, the internal divider optionally spatially separates the one or more cosmetic products to reduce smearing or cross-contamination between the one or more cosmetic products when stored in the cosmetic package. In other words, the internal divider creates a physical barrier between the one or more cosmetics stored in the cosmetic package. Thus, when any cosmetic product oozes out, it does not smear the body of another cosmetic product within the same interior region of the cosmetic product package. Optionally, the inner separator also provides a barrier to reduce cross-contamination between the one or more cosmetic products, e.g., the mixing of fragrances of the one or more cosmetic products. It should be understood that the material of the inner partition is chosen in such a way that: which form an anti-fouling barrier (e.g., a liquid barrier) and a cross-contamination barrier (e.g., an air barrier).
Optionally, the inner divider is fabricated from a shock absorbing material to protect one or more cosmetics disposed in the cosmetic package from undesired physical impact. Such physical impact may occur due to physical impact on the cosmetic package (such as dropping, crushing, rough handling, friction with surfaces or other objects, etc.) as well as internal movement of one or more cosmetics within the interior region of the elongated package. Examples of such shock absorbing materials include, but are not limited to, foams, cloths, soft plastic materials, gel pads, and silicones (e.g., biodegradable silicones).
Optionally, the inner partition is formed from a different sheet material than the sheet material used to form the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel and the second end panel. Thus, in this case, the inner divider may be easily removed from within the interior region of the elongate package. For example, the internal divider may be easily removed and replaced when worn (e.g., due to degradation from prolonged exposure to leakage or oozing of liquid from one or more cosmetic products).
Optionally, the inner divider defines a plurality of elongate compartments for containing one or more cosmetic products. More optionally, the inner partition comprises one or more inner planar panels for defining a plurality of elongated compartments. In such cases, the arrangement of the one or more interior planar sheets within the interior region is based on the desired elongated arrangement of the one or more cosmetic products. In an example, the interior region may be divided by one interior planar panel into two elongated compartments extending along the length of the elongated package. In such an example, two elongated cosmetic products (such as eye shadow sticks, lip pencils, etc.) may be stored within two elongated compartments.
Optionally, the internal partition defines a plurality of transverse compartments for containing one or more cosmetic products. In such a case, the arrangement of the one or more interior planar sheets within the interior region is based on the desired lateral arrangement of the one or more cosmetic products. In an example, the interior region may be divided by an interior planar panel into two lateral compartments extending along the transverse width of the elongated package. In such an example, two wide cosmetics (such as a cream, a compact, a blush, etc.) may be stored in two lateral compartments. Optionally, the inner divider is held within the cosmetic package by a slip fit and may be slid out to provide access to the cosmetic protected by the inner divider for a given user.
Optionally, the internal partition defines a plurality of grid-like compartments for containing one or more cosmetic products. In such a case, the arrangement of the one or more interior planar sheets within the interior region is based on the desired grid-like arrangement of the one or more cosmetic products. In an example, the interior region may be divided by two interior planar panels, one interior planar panel disposed along the length and the other interior planar panel disposed along the transverse width of the elongated package, so as to form a 2 x 2 grid with four spatially separated chambers within the interior region. In such an example, four cosmetics may be stored within the interior region, one product stored within each interior region chamber.
Optionally, the monolithic materials are adhesively bonded in at least a portion of their surface area. In this case, the "surface area" of the single sheet encompasses the surface areas of the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, the second end panel, and the inner partition. It should be noted that the adhesively bonded portions of the individual sheets are thicker, stronger and more rigid than the other unbonded portions of the individual sheets. Further, optionally, the adhesively bonded portion serves as a support portion that helps maintain the structure of the internal divider relative to at least one of the plurality of planar side panels, the first end panel, and the second end panel. In other words, the portion allows to keep the structure of the inner partition intact for spatially separating the space within the inner region in a desired manner. For example, a portion of the single sheet corresponding to the inner planar panel of the inner divider and a given planar side panel of the plurality of planar side panels may be adhesively bonded. In such instances, the adhesive bond between the inner planar panel of the inner divider and a given planar side panel secures the inner planar panel to one side of the elongated package, thereby providing support for the structure of the inner divider.
Optionally, an adhesive bond is provided along the elongated planar side panel of the plurality of planar panels to provide rigidity to the cosmetic package, and the distal planar panel of the internal divider is adhesively bonded to the same planar side panel in which the retention slot is formed. In this case, any elongate planar side panel of the plurality of planar panels may be adhesively bonded in at least a portion of its surface area to form a multi-layer side panel of the elongate package. Such a multi-layer side panel is thick and provides rigidity to the cosmetic package, as the multi-layer side panel will not easily deform or tear. Further, when the distal planar panel of the inner partition is adhesively bonded to the second planar side panel (which is the same planar side panel that forms the retention slot), a substantially stable (i.e., securely fixed or securely fastened) compartment is provided within the interior region of the elongated package to contain one or more cosmetic products. In this case, at least one end (e.g., distal end) of the distal planar panel of the inner divider is adhesively bonded along the second planar panel to form a substantially fixed and well-formed compartment within the interior region. Additionally, a surface of the distal planar panel of the inner divider may also be adhesively bonded to the second planar side panel to provide rigidity to at least a portion of the second planar side panel.
In one embodiment, the distal planar panel of the inner divider is adhesively bonded to the portion of the planar side panel in which the retention slot is formed, wherein the portion is spatially remote from the retention slot. In this case, the spatially remote portion of the second planar side panel (in which the retaining slot is formed) comprises an inner surface portion of the second planar side panel substantially remote from the retaining slot, e.g., a peripheral surface portion of the second planar side panel adjacent the first and second end panels of the elongate package. Thus, in such embodiments, the portion of the inner surface of the second planar side panel adjacent the retaining groove is free of fixed adhesive structural obstructions. Thus, in the closed state, the flap, in which the distal fingers can slide, can easily slide into the retaining groove.
In another embodiment, the portion of the internal partition proximate the lid is free of a distal planar panel that is adhesively bonded to the planar side panel in which the retention slot is formed. In this case, the distal flat plate of the inner partition is adhesively bonded along the inner surface of the second flat side plate (which is the flat side plate forming the holding groove) in such a manner that the distal flat plate exists only along the portion of the inner partition away from the cover. Thus, without a distal planar sheet near the cover, there would be a gap between the retaining slot and the portion of the internal partition near the cover. Thus, a distal finger-slidable flap can be snapped into such a gap for bringing the lid into the closed state.
Optionally, the distal finger-slidable flap plate of the cover is provided with a friction enhancing surface modification on its outwardly facing surface which enhances the finger frictional adhesion on the distal finger-slidable flap plate. In this case, a friction enhancing surface modification may be provided: for example, a series of raised ridges, sandpaper with friction-enhancing particles (such as substantially small metal particles, diamond or glass particles, etc.) to enhance finger frictional grip. Thus, the user slidably moves the distal finger slidable flap plate without sliding directly into the retaining slot. Beneficially, such friction enhancing surface modification allows users with finger dexterity issues to use cosmetic packages without much trouble. In addition, such surface modification imparts a unique appearance to the lid, thereby enhancing the visual appearance of the cosmetic package. Optionally, the surface modification provides an optical sparkle effect that enables the cosmetic package to be easily identified and found within a collection of multiple different cosmetic packages.
Optionally, the elongated package has a length in the range of 10cm to 18cm, a first transverse width in the range of 2cm to 6cm, and a second transverse width in the range of 1cm to 3cm when in the closed state. It should be noted that the length of the elongated package substantially corresponds to the longitudinal dimension of the plurality of planar side panels of the elongated package, as the plurality of side panels are arranged along the longitudinal axis of the cosmetic product. Similarly, the first transverse width substantially corresponds to the width of the elongated package at the first end of the elongated package, and the second transverse width substantially corresponds to the width of the elongated package at the second end of the elongated package. In other words, the first and second lateral widths substantially correspond to the lateral dimensions of the first and second end panels, respectively, because the first and second end panels are arranged along a lateral axis of the cosmetic product, which extends along the width of the cosmetic package. The elongate length of the elongate package may be, for example, 10cm, 11cm, 12cm, 13cm, 14cm, 15cm, 16cm, 17cm or 18cm, while the first transverse width of the elongate package may be, for example, 2cm, 2.2cm, 2.4cm, 2.6cm, 2.8cm, 3cm, 3.2cm, 3.4cm, 3.6cm, 3.8cm, 4cm, 4.2cm, 4.4cm, 4.6cm, 4.8cm, 5cm, 5.2cm, 5.4cm, 5.6cm, 5.8cm or 6cm, and the second transverse width of the elongate package may be, for example, 1cm, 1.2cm, 1.4cm, 1.6cm, 1.8cm, 2cm, 2.2cm, 2.4cm, 2.6cm, 2.8cm or 3 cm.
Optionally, the first lateral width is equal to the second lateral width. Optionally, in this case, the first and second transverse widths of the elongated packages are in the range of 2cm to 3 cm. Alternatively, optionally, the first lateral width and the second lateral width are not equal. Optionally, the cosmetic package is implemented in a tapered form along at least one of its longitudinal length and/or along its transverse length.
Optionally, one of the plurality of planar side panels may include a scratch-off date indicator. It should be noted that the scratch-off type date indicator may be used to indicate the opening date of the cosmetic. It should be understood that the shelf life of a cosmetic product typically begins when the cosmetic product is opened. Once opened, the cosmetic is typically safe to use for a predetermined period of time, for example, six months or a year. Therefore, the user may scratch off the open date on the scratch-off type date indicator when opening the cosmetic. Such an indication allows the user to keep track of the expiration date of the cosmetic product. The scratch-off date indicator may comprise two columns, wherein a first column of the two columns may indicate a month and a second column may indicate a date in the month. Alternatively, one of the plurality of planar side panels may optionally include a designated area where a user can write an opening date of the cosmetic product.
Detailed description of the drawings
Referring to fig. 1, 2, and 3, illustrations of perspective views of a cosmetic package 100 in a closed state (fig. 1 and 2) and an open state (fig. 3), respectively, according to embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. As shown in fig. 1 and 2, the cosmetic package 100 is manufactured as an elongated package 102 having a plurality of planar side panels, a first end panel 112 and a second end panel 114, depicted as a cuboid package having four planar side panels, wherein the planar side panels 104 and 106 are visible in fig. 1 and the planar side panels 108 and 110 are visible in fig. 2. It should be noted that fig. 1 depicts a top perspective view of the cosmetic package 100, while fig. 2 depicts a bottom (i.e., underside) perspective view of the cosmetic package 100.
As shown in fig. 2, the second end panel 114 is embodied as a cover 116 pivotably attached to at least a first planar side panel (depicted as planar side panel 104 in fig. 1) of the plurality of planar side panels 104-110, wherein the cover 116 includes a distal, finger-slidable flap panel 116A that is snappable into a retention slot 118 formed on at least a second planar side panel (depicted as planar side panel 108) of the plurality of planar side panels 104-110. The elongated package 102 encloses an interior area for containing one or more cosmetic products that are accessible to the user when the distal finger slidable flap 116A is slid with a finger out of the retention slot 118 to pivot the lid 116 to the open condition. The cover 116 is further shown as including a first planar cover panel 116B, wherein a first end of the first planar cover panel 116B is pivotally attached to a side edge of a first planar side panel 104 of the plurality of planar side panels 104-110, and wherein a second end of the first planar cover panel 116B is pivotally attached to a distal finger slidable flip panel 116A. Here, the first planar side panel 104 is arranged to be reflective for applying one or more cosmetic products; for example, the first planar side panel 104 is beneficially configured to act as a mirror.
As shown in fig. 3, the distal finger slidable flap 116A is slid out of the retention slot 118 with a finger to pivot the lid 116 to the open position. Thus, in the open state, the interior region 302 of the elongated package 102 (and in particular, the cosmetic package 100) is accessible to the user. The interior region 302 may contain one or more cosmetic products therein. Further, in the open state, the lid 116 is shown to include a second planar cover 116C and a third planar cover 116D, the second and third planar covers 116C and 116D being pivotably attached to edges of the planar side panels 110 and 106, respectively.
Referring to fig. 4 and 5, illustrations of perspective views of cosmetic packages 400 and 500 are provided according to various embodiments of the present disclosure, wherein the interior regions 402 and 502 of the cosmetic packages 400 and 500, respectively, are depicted. It should be understood that the cosmetic packages 400 and 500 are substantially similar in structure and function to the cosmetic package 100 set forth in connection with fig. 1, 2, and 3. As shown, the elongated package 102 includes internal dividers 404 and 504 in its interior regions 402 and 502 for containing one or more cosmetic products in a spatially independent manner, wherein the internal dividers 404 and 504 are integral with the plurality of planar side panels 104-110, the first end panel 112, and the second end panel 114, wherein the panels are formed from a single sheet of material during manufacture. It should be noted that the monolithic materials are adhesively bonded in at least a portion of their surface area. Further, an adhesive bond is provided along an elongated planar side panel (e.g., the planar side panel 106) of the plurality of planar side panels 104-110 to provide rigidity to the cosmetic packages 400 and 500, and the distal planar panels 404A and 504A of the inner dividers 404 and 504 are adhesively bonded to the same planar side panel 108 in which the retention slot 118 is formed.
In fig. 4, the distal planar panel 404A of the inner divider 404 is adhesively bonded to the portion of the planar side panel 108 in which the retention slot 118 is formed, wherein the portion is spatially remote from the retention slot 118. As shown, the interior divider 404 defines a plurality of elongated compartments (depicted as elongated compartment 406 and elongated compartment 408) for containing one or more cosmetic products. In fig. 5, the portion of the internal divider 504 near the cover 116 (specifically, near the second end panel 114) is free of the distal planar panel 504A, and the distal planar panel 504A is adhesively bonded to the planar side panel 108 forming the retention slot 118. As shown, the interior divider 504 defines a plurality of elongated compartments (depicted as elongated compartment 506 and elongated compartment 508) for containing one or more cosmetic products.
It should be noted that in fig. 4 and 5, the distal end of the cap 116 is bent radially outward at a first radius and the retaining groove 118 is bent at a second radius, wherein the first radius and the second radius are the same as each other such that when the distal end is slid by a finger to cover the retaining groove 118, the distal end of the cap 116 covers the retaining groove 118 in a bent manner.
Referring next to fig. 6 and 7, illustrations of perspective views of cosmetic packages 600 and 700 in use and in a closed state, respectively, according to embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. It should be understood that the cosmetic packages 600 and 700 are substantially similar in structure and function to the cosmetic packages 100, 400, and 500 described in connection with fig. 1-3, 4, and 5, respectively. As shown in fig. 6, the cosmetic package 600 contains one or more cosmetics (depicted as cosmetics 602) within an interior region 604 of the cosmetic package 600. Thus, cosmetic product 602 is accessible to the user when distal finger slidable flap 116A is slid with a finger out of retention slot 118 to pivot lid 116 to the open condition. As shown in fig. 7, the second planar side panel 702 is arranged to have a compartment 704 thereon for holding (i.e., containing) one or more disposable wipes. Further, one of the plurality of planar side panels (such as planar side panel 706) is arranged to include an elastic band 708 configured to secure one or more objects therein.
Those skilled in the art will appreciate that fig. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are merely examples for clarity and should not unduly limit the scope of the claims herein. Those skilled in the art will recognize many variations, alterations, and modifications of the embodiments of the present disclosure.
