A detachable flat-fold furniture kit comprising a base unit including a generally rectangular back panel (100) and a pair of generally rectangular metal side members (200), said side members having a stepped frame hingedly connected to the vertical edges of the back panel (100) so that they can be moved between a position in which they lie flat on the back panel (100) and extend perpendicular to the back panel (100); at least one additional panel connected to the frame by means of clips that mate with the horizontal crosspieces of the side members (200); and a safety device for disassembly training of the additional panel.

Technical Field

The utility model relates to a piece of furniture. More particularly, the present invention relates to a detachable flat-fold furniture kit that can use different forms of additional panels to achieve different purposes.

Background

Furniture may be defined as movable objects used to support various human activities such as sitting, eating and sleeping. In addition, furniture can be used to place objects at a convenient height for work or storage. In the modern times, most people live in a small space, and thus it is necessary to make every piece of furniture assume double duty. In order to reduce the volume, the concept of 'multi-purpose' is greatly helpful. When an item has multiple functions, one may need fewer items. In modern homes, multi-purpose furniture saves space, allowing people to choose smaller, more efficient homes. Multipurpose furniture, also known as modular furniture, can be expanded or contracted as needed to meet both purposes, or to seamlessly transition from one function to another.

In one example, as shown in patent document US3556586A, a multi-functional furniture article, in particular children's furniture, is disclosed, formed as a one-piece hollow-wall moulding of rigid plastic, which, according to its selective positioning, can be used as an upright chair, rocking chair, table and table, as desired. However, the disclosed furniture has a limitation in that the furniture cannot be folded into a compact size for storage purposes.

In a second example, shown in patent document US20080276839a1, a convertible article of furniture is disclosed. The disclosed furniture item can be converted between a coffee table and a dining table with chairs by simply rotating the furniture from a horizontal position to an upright position. However, these pieces of furniture are difficult to attach and therefore cannot be easily disassembled into smaller pieces for shipping and storage.

Meanwhile, patent document BE1008843A3 discloses a folding furniture that can switch functions between a chair, a stool, a table or a shelf. The furniture includes hinges that allow the furniture to be folded to some extent. However, the firmness of the furniture is not guaranteed.

In general, there is a need for a utility model of a multi-functional furniture that is foldable and detachable into smaller parts by a simple connection. Accordingly, the present invention provides such a piece of furniture.

Disclosure of Invention

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a detachable flat-fold furniture kit having a base unit comprising a generally rectangular back panel and a pair of generally rectangular metal side members, said side members comprising a ladder-like frame hingedly connected to the vertical edges of the back panel so that they can be moved between a position lying flat on the back panel and a position extending perpendicular to the back panel.

Preferably the kit includes a panel attached to a frame by clips that mate with the rails and side pieces of the side members.

Preferably the kit includes a further back panel having interlocking means for connecting the back panel.

Preferably, the side members comprise ladder members having horizontal and inclined rungs.

Preferably, the back panel comprises a pair of hinged panels that are symmetrically foldable about a vertical axis.

Preferably, the additional panels may include, but are not limited to, drawers, shelves, cabinets, foldable tables and chairs.

Alternatively, the clip includes a "U" shaped hook having a flange extending from the hook.

Alternatively, the side panels include a restraining means adjacent the hinge to limit the extension of the side panels to allow the kit to be erected prior to attachment of the additional panels.

Alternatively, the kit may further include shock protection applied to the clip and the attachment panel.

A second object of the present invention is to provide a detachable flat-fold furniture kit comprising a base unit including a substantially rectangular back plate and a pair of substantially rectangular metal side members having ladder-like frames hingedly connected to the vertical edges of the back plate so that they can be moved between a position lying flat on the back plate and a position extending perpendicular to the back plate, at least one additional panel connected to the frame by clips tightly mounted on the horizontal crosspieces of the side members; and the safety device is used for performing disassembly training on the additional panel.

Preferably, the security device is in the form of a gap between the side members and the back plate and at least one projection in engageable contact with the side members, the projection being located at a position between the gap and extending from an edge of the additional panel to act as a first stop to prevent lateral movement of the additional panel.

Preferably the security means is in the form of an aperture in each edge of the additional panel for receiving a pin, the aperture lying immediately below the horizontal rail on which the additional panel is mounted so that each pin is in engageable contact with the underside of its respective horizontal rail to prevent longitudinal movement of the additional panel.

Preferably the security device is in the form of a stop attached to at least one of the side members or the back plate which abuts against the top of the additional panel to prevent the additional panel from tipping over when a load is applied to the outer end of the additional panel.

Preferably, the stop block is an elongated U-shaped clip attachable to the side member or the back plate.

Preferably, the security device is in the form of at least one projection extending from the underside of the attachment panel, the projection being engageable with the clip to prevent the attachment panel from sliding.

It will be readily understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention is well adapted to carry out the objects and obtain the ends and advantages mentioned, as well as those inherent therein. The embodiments described herein are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

Detailed Description

The invention will now be described in more detail, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Fig. 1 to 2 are schematic views of a detachable flat-folding furniture kit and its accessories. The furniture kit has a basic unit comprising a substantially rectangular back plate 100 and a pair of substantially rectangular metal side members 200, said side members 200 being constituted by ladder-like frames which are hinged to the vertical edges of the back plate 100 so that they can be turned into two positions, wherein in one position the side members 200 lie flat on the back plate 100 and in the other position the side members 200 extend perpendicular to the back plate 100. 100, 110. The back panel 100 comprises a pair of hinged panels that can be folded in a corrugated fashion along a vertical axis. The kit may also be expanded horizontally by interlocking another back panel 110 with a single side member 210 to the main back panel 100. In addition, as shown in fig. 3 and 4, the back panel 100 further includes hooks 222 for connecting the wire frame 220 so that the wire frame 220 may vertically extend from the back panel 100. The wired frame 220 also has an additional hook 221, and the hook 221 is adhered to the back plate 100 for reinforcement.

The kit includes additional panels connected to the side members 200 by clips 400, the clips 400 mating closely with the rails and side pieces of the side members 200, wherein the side members 200 comprise stepped members having horizontal rails and inclined rails. Additional panels of the kit may take different forms including, but not limited to, drawers 320, shelves, cabinets 370, foldable tables 330, and chairs. In a first example as shown in fig. 5, if the additional panel is in the form of a drawer 320, the drawer 320 has two pairs of clips 400 with different orientations mounted on the inside of the drawer 320 so that the drawer 320 can slide along the rail within a maximum allowable range. The change in the direction of the clip not only connects the drawer 320 to the rail, but also acts as a clip channel to enable the drawer 320 to slide.

In a second example as shown in figure 6, the additional panel is in the form of a foldable table 330, the foldable table 330 comprising a two-part foldable table top with clips attached to one side 332 of the foldable table top and foldable legs 331 on the other side of the table top. The table 330 has an upright configuration and a compact configuration. In the erected configuration, the table top is laid flat in a generally horizontal position and the legs are flipped outwardly to a generally vertical position to support the table top. In the compact configuration, the first section of the table top swings downward to a position perpendicular to the second section 332 of the table top and the legs flip inward to a position parallel to the first section. The height of the table corresponds to the length of the folding legs 331 and different heights may be used for different purposes. For example, the taller table may be used as a bar counter, and the shorter foldable table 330 may be used as a work table.

In a third example as shown in fig. 7 and 8, if the additional panel is in the form of a shelf, the shelf may be attached to the side member 200 at any height by the clip 400. The shelf may be in the form of a flat plate (350, 360) or an L-shaped panel (310, 340) for different uses. For example, the panels (350, 360) may be horizontally disposed to form a display rack; the L-shaped panels (310, 340) may be placed on top of the flat panel forming a concealed area; the L-shaped panels (310, 340) may also be attached obliquely to the side member 200, wherein one end of the panels may be turned into a ridge to accommodate objects placed at an oblique angle on the panels.

In a fourth example, as shown in fig. 9, where the additional panel is in the form of a cabinet 370. The cabinet 370 has a bottom panel with two pairs of clips 400 on each side, two side panels 373 (with hinged doors 371) and a top cover plate 372 connected by alignment pins.

The first embodiment of the clip 400 shown in fig. 10 includes a "U" shaped hook 402 for attachment to the rail, a flange 404 extending from one of the top ends of the "U" shaped hook 402 or from the parabolic base 401 of the "U" shaped hook 402. The flange has a hole 403 at the centroid allowing the use of any fastening medium such as bolts, lock nuts and screws.

A second embodiment of a clip 400, as shown in fig. 11A and 11B, includes a beam structure 405 with a "U" shaped hook 402 at each free end for connection to a rail of a side member frame. The beam structure also has a pair of projections 406 that mate with the grooves of the additional panel 350.

As shown in fig. 12, a third embodiment of the clip, each clip is in the form of a slotted wheel 321 with the crosspiece located within the grooved section of the wheel. This embodiment may be applied to the additional panel in the form of a drawer 320 to better slide the drawer with reduced friction.

In some countries where earthquakes frequently occur, furniture may have a shock-proof function, as shown in fig. 11A to 13. In one example, the clip 400 may further include a support beam structure 405 connecting both sides of the clip member to the fixing device to prevent the clip 400 from being separated from the rail due to an external force. The beam also includes a pair of retaining devices 406, such as roller stops, for retaining the additional panel 350. In another example, a safety device may be applied to the sheaves 321 of the drawer 320, whereby a reinforcing plate 322 is added alongside the sheaves 321 to provide additional support to the drawer 320. In addition, the legs of the side member 200 have feet 201, the size of which may be increased to enhance the stability of the furniture.

FIG. 14 As shown in FIG. 16, a knock-down flat-fold furniture kit whose basic unit includes a generally rectangular back panel 100 and a pair of generally rectangular metal side members 200, the side members 200 comprising a stepped frame hingedly connected to vertical edges of the back panel 100 so that they can move between a position in which they lie flat against the back panel 100 and a position in which they extend perpendicular to the back panel. When the kit is extended to the upright position, a plurality of additional panels may be connected to the frame by clips that mate with the rails of the side members and the side members. The kit also includes means for securing the attachment of the attachment panel to the base unit. In the example where the additional panel is a folding table and/or cabinet shelf, the securing means is in the form of a gap between the side member 200 and the back plate 100 as shown in fig. 14 and 14A, wherein a generally elongated U-shaped stop 500 is clipped onto the side member 200 to limit the folding table 330 from tipping over when a load is applied at the outer end of the folding table 330. Preferably, the stopper is made of rubber, elastomer, Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) or any other material that is resilient and has frictional properties so that the stopper can grip and maintain its position on the side member 200.

A second embodiment of the security device is shown in fig. 15 and 15A in which the security device is in the form of a side member 200 having a gap with the back plate 100 and at least one projection engagably contacting the side member 200, between the gap, extends from an edge of the additional panel to prevent lateral movement of the additional panel. A third embodiment of the security device shown in figure 16 is a pin 503, the pin 503 being mounted in a hole at each edge of the additional panel for reinforcing the attachment of the additional panel to the side member 200, wherein the hole (504) is located proximate below the horizontal rail to which the additional panel is attached. In one example of attaching the folding station 330 to the side member 200, the pins 503 are mounted into holes in the sides of the folding station 330 in a manner that limits the longitudinal movement of the folding station to prevent the folding station 330 from separating from the kit. Preferably, the pin 503 is a cylindrical pin, typically made of metal, plastic, wood, or any other material, that has the strength to hold the additional panel in place.

While the invention has been described in its preferred form with a certain degree of particularity, it is understood that the present disclosure of the preferred form has been made only by way of example and that numerous changes in the details of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts have been made. These components may be employed without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. A knock down flat fold furniture kit comprising: a base unit, characterized in that,

the basic unit comprises

A generally rectangular backplate (100) and

a pair of substantially rectangular metal side members (200) having a ladder-like frame and hingedly connected to the vertical edges of the backboard (100) so that they can move between a position lying on the backboard (100) and extending perpendicular to the backboard (100);

at least one additional panel is connected to the frame by means of clips that mate with the horizontal crosspieces of the side members (200);

attachment means connected to the additional panel in such a way that: any movement of the attachment panel causes the attachment means to engage the ladder-like frame, thereby preventing disengagement of the attachment panel; and

and the safety device is used for performing disassembly training on the additional panel.

2. A kit according to claim 1, wherein the security device is in the form of a gap between the side member (200) and the backplate (100) and at least one projection (501) in engageable contact with the side member (200), the projection (501) being located at a position between the gaps and extending from an edge of the additional panel to act as a first stop to prevent lateral movement of the additional panel.

3. A kit according to claim 2, wherein the security device is in the form of a hole (504) at each edge of the additional panel for receiving a pin (503), the hole (504) fitting closely beneath the horizontal rail to which the additional panel is attached so that each pin (503) is in engageable contact with the underside of its respective horizontal rail to prevent longitudinal movement of the additional panel.

A kit according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the connection means is in the form of: a stop (500) is attached to at least one of the side member (200) or the back plate (100) and abuts an upper portion of the attachment panel to prevent the attachment panel from flipping over when a load is applied to the outer end of the attachment panel.

5. The kit of claim 4, wherein the stop block (500) is an elongated U-shaped clip connectable to the side member (200) or the backboard (100).

6. A kit according to claim 5, wherein the attachment means has at least one projection (502) extending from the underside of the attachment panel, the projection (502) being in engageable contact with the clip (400) to prevent the attachment panel from sliding.
