Description

Tank for a motor vehicle
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of motor vehicles, in particular to a tank for motor vehicles, in particular to a fuel tank for motor vehicles.
Background
Tanks for motor vehicles, in particular for storing fuel, generally comprise various functional components, some of which need to be fixed outside the tank. Currently, these functional components are generally fixed to the outer wall of the tank body of the fuel tank by means of heat welding or mounted on the sheet metal of the vehicle bottom. However, when the space is not sufficient after the fuel tank is mounted on the vehicle and the parts are required to be integrated outside the fuel tank, the above-mentioned fixing method cannot meet the requirement.
Therefore, a new fixing method is needed to meet the fixing requirement of the parts under the above-mentioned conditions.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
An object of the utility model is to solve above-mentioned technical problem.
To this end, embodiments of the present invention provide a tank for a motor vehicle having at least one recess along its parting line in which an outward extension is provided that extends outwardly from the wall of the tank.
In the present application, the term "tank" is understood to mean an impermeable tank capable of storing its contents under a wide and varying range of environmental and usage conditions, such as the fuel tank with which motor vehicles are equipped and the ammonia precursor tank (generally containing a urea solution) in SCR systems for reducing NOX gases in exhaust gases.
At present, tanks for motor vehicles are generally moulded, most commonly blow-moulded, and, due to the nature of the moulding process, the moulded tank generally forms a parting line at the parting interface of the two half-moulds. Since the tank has at least one portion recessed inward relative to the other portion along the contour of its parting line, this portion provides a mounting space for the component to be fixed to the tank, solving the problem of insufficient space on the tank. At the same time, since in the inwardly recessed portion an extension is provided which extends outwardly from the wall of the tank, this extension provides a mounting platform for the component to be fixed, so that the component only needs to be fixed on this extension, instead of directly on the outer wall of the tank as in the prior art. In this way, the parts can be fixed in a more flexible manner (for example, by various suitable means such as connection by threaded fasteners, welding, gluing, etc.), in a more reliable manner (for example, the reliability of welding can be improved due to the larger welding interface), and since the tank body of the tank does not need to be subjected to any operation such as heating, punching, etc. during the fixing process, the fixing manner does not have any influence on the tank body itself, and the quality of the produced tank can be better ensured.
Further, the extension is substantially at a parting line of the tank. Preferably, the extension portion is a substantially flat plate structure and substantially coincides with a plane of the joint line. A tank comprising an extension having the above-mentioned characteristics is easier to realize in terms of technology, and in particular the extension can be formed by extrusion of a parison constituting the wall of the tank by two half-moulds during the moulding of the tank.
Further, the extension is integrally formed with a wall of the tank. The storage box is easy to realize in process, and the extension part and the storage box are integrally formed, so that the connection between the extension part and the storage box is firmer and more reliable, the extension part is not easy to fall off from the box body of the storage box, and parts can be better fixed and kept in place.
Further, the tank also comprises a functional component fixed to the extension and at least partially received in the at least one recess. It should be appreciated that the functional component can be secured to the extension by any suitable means (e.g., threaded fastening, welding, adhesive, etc.). The space left unused in the at least one concave part is fully utilized, and the fixing requirement of parts is met.
-the functional component is soldered to the outer extension.
-the tank is a fuel tank.
Drawings
The present invention will be described in further detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows in a schematic perspective view a tank 1 for a motor vehicle according to an embodiment of the invention. In the shown embodiment, the tank is a fuel tank for storing fuel. It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the tank may also be a tank on a motor vehicle for storing other substances, such as an ammonia precursor tank in an SCR system. The tank 1 can be manufactured by various processes, such as blow moulding, thermoforming, etc. The present application will be described by taking as an example a blow molding process that is currently relatively common.
As shown in fig. 1, the tank 1 is a substantially flat hollow body, along the lateral surface of which a circular parting line 12 can be seen, which is formed during blow moulding at the parting interface of the two half moulds. The tank 1 has a recess 14 along the parting line 12. In other words, the contour of the tank 1 along the parting line 12 comprises a portion recessed inwards with respect to the other portions (i.e. the recess 14) for at least partially receiving the component to be fixed. It will be understood that the tank 1 may comprise 2 or even more recesses for receiving more components, as required.
In fig. 1 it can be seen that in the recess 14 there is provided an extension 10 extending outwardly from the wall of the tank 1, to which extension 10 the component to be fixed, for example the functional component 2, is fixed by any suitable means (for example screwing, welding, gluing). The concave part 14 provides an installation space for the parts to be fixed on the storage tank, and solves the problem of insufficient space on the storage tank; the extension 10 provides a mounting platform for the parts to be fixed, so that only the parts need to be fixed on the extension, rather than being directly fixed on the outer wall of the storage tank as in the prior art, and thus, the parts can be fixed in a more flexible and reliable manner, and since the fixing process does not require any operation such as heating, punching and the like on the tank body of the storage tank, the fixing manner does not cause any influence on the tank body itself, and the quality of the produced storage tank can be better ensured.
Preferably, the extension 10 is substantially at the parting line 12 of the tank 1, more preferably the extension 10 is of substantially flat plate construction, substantially coinciding with the plane of the parting line 12, still more preferably the extension 10 is integrally formed with the wall of the tank 1. A tank comprising an extension having the above-mentioned characteristics is easier to realize in terms of technology, and in particular the extension 10 can be formed during the blow-moulding of the tank by extrusion of a parison constituting the wall of the tank through two half-moulds. It is of course also possible to attach the additionally shaped extension 10 to the tank wall in the recess 14 of the tank by welding or the like after the tank 1 has been manufactured, in which case the extension can be located anywhere in the recess as long as it is convenient to receive the component to be fixed. It should be understood that the specific dimensions (e.g., thickness, width) of the extension portion 10 can be adjusted by those skilled in the art according to actual needs, and can be designed into other shapes and configurations different from a flat plate.
In order not to increase the space required by the addition of the extension 10, it is preferred that the outer edge of the extension 10 is at most flush with, i.e. does not extend beyond, the outer surface of the tank sidewall adjacent to the recess 14.
The drawings and the foregoing description depict non-limiting specific embodiments of the invention. For the purpose of teaching inventive principles, some conventional aspects have been simplified or omitted. Those skilled in the art will appreciate variations from these embodiments that fall within the scope of the invention. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the above-described features can be combined in various ways to form multiple variations of the invention. Accordingly, the present invention is not limited to the specific embodiments described above, but is only limited by the claims and their equivalents.
