The motor cover 1 shown in fig. 1 is in use combined with a motor housing. A number of mounting holes 13 are provided around the motor cover 1 for connection of the motor cover 1 to the motor body. The motor body can accommodate components such as a rotor, a stator and a winding. The winding is electrically connected with the terminal assembly 2, while the connection terminals 21,22,23 of the terminal assembly 2 extend to be electrically connected with an external cable by means of the electrical connection device 3 according to the invention. More specifically, the cover 1 comprises at least one wall with through holes, for example, the cover 1 comprises a bottom wall 12 and a side wall 14 around the bottom wall 12, while the wall with through holes may be the side wall 14 of the cover 1. In some embodiments, the wall 14 may be oriented, for example, in a direction parallel to the output shaft of the motor. The wall 14 includes a plurality of through-holes 151,152,153, such as two or three or more, which may be arranged side by side or in another suitable manner. This side wall 14 of the cover 1 can be perpendicular to its bottom wall 12, the bottom wall 12 comprising a hole 11 allowing the motor shaft to pass through to output torque. Furthermore, the bottom wall 12 may have an opening 17 such that the first electrical connection ends 332 of the plurality of electrical connectors 301,302,303 are accessible from outside the cover 1, thereby facilitating the connection of the first electrical connection ends 332 of the plurality of electrical connectors 301,302,303 with the connection terminals 21,22,23 of the terminal assembly 2. An electrical connection device 3 according to an embodiment of the invention may be mounted to this wall 14. Alternatively, the electrical connection device 3 may be mounted to any wall of any electrical device.
With continued reference to fig. 2, in some embodiments, the electrical connection apparatus 3 comprises: a member body 31, the member body 31 may have opposing first and second sides, such as a first side facing the wall 14 and a second side facing away from the wall 14 when installed. Electrical connection apparatus 3 further includes a plurality of electrical connectors 301,302,303, electrical connectors 301,302,303 having a first electrical connection end 332 located on a first side of member body 301 and a second electrical connection end 331 located on a second side of member body 301. The first electrical connection terminal 332 and the second electrical connection terminal 331 are electrically connected, and the middle portion between the first electrical connection terminal 332 and the second electrical connection terminal 331 is embedded in the member main body 31. As shown in fig. 1, when the component body is mounted to a wall, the first electrical connection end 332 is located inside the wall 14 for electrical connection with the connection terminals 21,22,23 of the terminal assembly 2 inside the wall, while the second electrical connection end is located outside the wall 14 for electrical connection with the terminals outside said wall (such as the terminals 411,421,431 of the cable). Also shown are terminals 24 of terminal assembly 2 for connection with the motor windings.
In some embodiments, member body 31 may be formed directly from an insulative material, such as plastic, and electrical connectors 301,302,303 may be embedded directly into member body 31 during the molding process of member body 31. In an alternative embodiment, the electrical connection means may also be fixed to the wall from the inside of the wall, in which case a seal is provided between the second side of the component body 31 and the inside face of the wall. In some embodiments, the seal may be a gasket 34, and the gasket 34 includes an opening 341,342,343 corresponding to the location of the electrical connector of the component body 31 to allow the electrical connector to pass through. The gasket 34 may be adhered to the member body 31 with the gasket 34 between the member body 31 and the wall 14 when the member body 31 is engaged with the wall 14. In an alternative embodiment, the seal may be affixed to the wall 14. In alternative embodiments, the seal may be a gasket or other suitable type of seal.
In some embodiments, the first electrical connection end 332 and/or the second electrical connection end 331 of the electrical connectors 301,302,303 include mounting holes for connection with terminals, e.g., the terminals 411,421,431 of a cable are connected to the second electrical connection end 331 of the electrical connectors by a first set of bolts 72 in the mounting holes, which may be self-threaded to receive the first set of bolts 72 or secure the first set of bolts 72 by additional nuts. In some embodiments, the first set of bolts 72 may be tightened with a predetermined torque by an automated tightening mechanism, such as a bolt gun, to ensure consistency and stability of the connection and to improve process controllability of assembly. Similarly, the connection terminals 21,22,23 of the terminal assembly 2 connected to the motor winding may be connected to the mounting holes of the first electrical connection terminal 332 of the electrical connector through the through holes 211,212,213 thereof by the second set of bolts 71. The first electrical connection end 332 of the electrical connector may or may not be threaded and the second set of bolts 71 may also be tightened with a predetermined torque by a bolt gun. In an embodiment, the cover comprises an opening 17 in its bottom wall 12 to allow the first set of bolts 71 to be tightened from outside the cover, facilitating the assembly of the connection terminals 21,22,23 with the first electrical connection end 332 of the electrical connector. In alternative embodiments, the first and/or second electrical connection ends of the electrical connector may be connected to the cable and terminal assembly 2 by other means, such as welding, etc.
In some embodiments, the member body 31 includes a plurality of mounting holes 314 disposed about the plurality of through holes for securing the electrical connection device to the wall 14 by the third set of bolts 61, 62. Correspondingly, the gasket 34 may also have an aperture 344 corresponding to the location of the mounting hole 314 to allow the third set of bolts 61,62 to pass through, while the wall 14 may have an aperture 161 corresponding to the location to receive the third set of bolts 61, 62. In the embodiment shown, the component body is a rectangular sheet comprising three through holes (two or more may also be provided side by side) arranged side by side, each through hole being surrounded by four mounting holes for fixing the electrical connection means to the wall by means of a third set of bolts 61,62, an insulator and an electrical connection being arranged in each through hole. In some embodiments, adjacent through holes may share two mounting holes therebetween. Through the mounting holes surrounding the through holes, when the fixing device is fixed, the stress on the periphery of the through holes is uniform, and therefore the consistency of the seal on the periphery is guaranteed.
On the other hand, a motor is provided, the motor including a motor main body and a cover, wherein the cover includes a wall having a perforation, the motor further including an electrical connection device according to an embodiment of the present invention for connecting an electrical connection terminal inside the wall with an electrical connection terminal outside the wall.
Compared to the conventional arrangement where the cable is bolted to the housing and welded to the wire wrap joint, according to the present invention, the advantages that the electrical connection device and the motor of some embodiments may have include: 1. the vibration of the cable is absorbed by the housing and is not transmitted to the electric connection part basically; 2. better sealing performance, and liquid is prevented from entering the shell; 3. bolting by applying a predetermined torque has better consistency than welding and facilitates process flow control and the like.
All the details of the embodiments above are provided for the purpose of better understanding the subject matter of the present invention, and therefore the above description is exemplary rather than limiting.
