Detailed Description
Shown in fig. 1 is a passenger compartment 10 of a motor vehicle according to the invention. In this exemplary embodiment, the invention is embodied in a passenger compartment 10 of a motor vehicle. However, it will be noted that the invention may be implemented in any type of vehicle.
The passenger compartment 10 of the motor vehicle includes a driver seat 12 and a front passenger seat 14. The display module 22 comprises a touch interface 24. the touch interface 24 comprises a capacitive liquid crystal touch screen, also abbreviated L cd. in this embodiment, the capacitive touch screen is of the thin film transistor type, also abbreviated tft. according to a variant of the present embodiment, the touch screen is of the organic light emitting diode type, also abbreviated O L ED, or of the active matrix organic light emitting diode type, also abbreviated AMO L ED. more generally, the liquid crystal touch screen can be of any type.
As shown in FIG. 2, the touch interface 24 includes a front surface 24A and a back surface 24B opposite the front surface 24A. The front surface 24A can display images in the passenger compartment 10. Referring to FIG. 1, it faces a driver seat 12 and a front passenger seat 14.
The front surface 24A of the touch interface 24 is further covered with a protective film 26, and the protective film 26 functions to protect the front surface 24A. The protective film 26 includes a front surface 26A and a rear surface 26B opposite the front surface 26A. The rear surface 26B of the protective film 26 is in direct contact with the front surface 24A of the touch interface 24. The front surface 26A of the protective film 26 faces the driver seat 12 and the front passenger seat 14. Also, the rear surface 24B of the touch interface 24 is directly fixed to the support member 28. Further, the outer circumferential edge of the touch interface 24 connecting the front surface 24A and the rear surface 24B is also directly fixed to the support member 28. The support member 28 thus includes an opening that receives the touch interface 24. Further, the support member 28 includes an opening 30, the opening 30 leading to the rear surface 24B of the touch interface 24, and the function thereof will be described below.
The display module 22 also includes a flexible printed circuit 32. The flexible printed circuit 32 includes an elongated main member, a first longitudinal end 34A, and a second longitudinal end 34B opposite the first longitudinal end 34A.
The first longitudinal end 34A of the flexible printed circuit 32 is secured to the rear surface 24B of the touch interface 24, and may advantageously be secured directly to the rear surface 24B of the touch interface 24. This arrangement is possible because of the presence of the openings 30 formed in the support member 28. The opening 30 is penetrated by a flexible printed circuit 32. Thus, the first longitudinal end 34A of the flexible printed circuit 32 is electrically connected to the touch interface 24. The first longitudinal end 34A of the flexible printed circuit 32 is secured to the back surface 24B of the touch interface 24 by means of a conductive adhesive layer 36, the conductive adhesive layer 36 being an anisotropic conductive film, also abbreviated as ACF, herein. In general, the anisotropic conductive film makes it possible to produce anisotropic conductive connection between the terminal end of the first electronic component and the terminal end of the second electronic component, and may include crystalline resin, amorphous resin, and conductive particles.
The display module 22 also includes control electronics. The second longitudinal end 34B of the flexible printed circuit 32 forms an electrical connector and makes it possible to electrically connect the flexible printed circuit 32 to the control electronics of the touch interface 24. In this manner, the touch interface 24 is electrically connected to the control electronics. The control electronics may be, in particular, a printed circuit. In addition, according to a variant, the flexible printed circuit 32 forms the control electronics of the touch interface 24.
A method of manufacturing the display module 22 will now be described.
First, the mold is placed in an open position.
Next, the touch interface 24 is set in the mold.
The mold is then closed.
Next, the hot, soft thermoplastic material used to form the support member 28 is injected into the mold.

Claims (9)

1. A display module (22) having a touch interface for a vehicle passenger compartment (10), the display module comprising:
-a support member (28),
-a touch interface (24) comprising a front surface (24A) able to display a touch element in the passenger compartment and a rear surface (24B) opposite to the front surface (24A), the rear surface (24B) being directly fixed to the support member (28), and
-a flexible printed circuit (32),
the support member (28) has an opening (30), the flexible printed circuit (32) is disposed through the opening (30), and the flexible printed circuit (32) is secured to the rear surface (24B) of the touch interface (24).
2. The display module (22) of claim 1 wherein the flexible printed circuit (32) is secured to the back surface (24B) of the touch interface (24) by a layer of conductive adhesive (36).
3. The display module (22) of claim 2 wherein the conductive adhesive layer (36) is an anisotropic conductive film.
4. The display module (22) of claim 1 wherein the flexible printed circuit (32) includes an electrical connector disposed at a second end opposite the first end secured to the back surface (24B) of the touch interface (24).
5. A display module (22) according to claim 4 comprising control electronics for controlling the electrical connectors of the touch interface (24) and connected to the flexible printed circuit (32).
6. The display module (22) of claim 1 wherein the touch interface (24) is capacitive.
7. The display module (22) of claim 1 including a protective film (26) covering the front surface (24A) of the touch interface (24).
8. A display module (22) according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the protective film (26) is secured to the front surface (24A) of the touch interface (24) by a transparent adhesive layer.
9. A vehicle passenger compartment (10) comprising a display module (22) according to any one of claims 1 to 8.
