Detailed Description
The same reference numbers in different drawings identify the same or similar elements. For purposes of clarity, only the elements useful for understanding the described embodiments are shown in the drawings and are described in detail below. Similarly, only the differences between the exemplary embodiments described below are described in detail.
In the following description, when reference is made to absolute positional qualifiers, for example, the terms "front", "back", "top", "bottom", "left", "right", and the like, or relative qualifiers, for example, the terms "above", "below", "upper", "lower", and the like, or directional qualifiers, for example, "horizontal", "vertical", and the like, these refer to directions with reference to the drawings, unless otherwise specified.
FIG. 1 shows a first example of a touch sensitive device for magnifying an image displayed by a touchscreen 12 of an electronic device 14, which is located in a position relative to the electronic device 14. The electronic device 14 may be, inter alia, a smartphone, a tablet computer or even a computer with a touch screen.
As shown, the magnifying touch-sensitive device 10 first includes a lens 16 for magnifying an image displayed by the touch screen 12 of the electronic device 14. The magnifying lens 16 may in particular be a fresnel lens or a step lens, in other words a plano-convex lens, cut into concentric annular sections, optimized to make the lens lighter. This design allows for a short focal length for a relatively large lens size while maintaining the reduced weight and volume of the magnifying lens 16.
The magnifying lens 16 has a thickness of, for example, between 1mm and 5mm, for example 2 mm.
The magnifying lens 16 is, for example, glass or poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA).
The magnifying lens 16 has a magnification of, for example, between 1.5 and 5, for example 2.
The magnifying lens 16 includes two faces:
a first face 16a facing the electronic device 14; and
a second face 16b opposite the first face 16a and facing a user 17 of the enlarged touch sensitive device 10.
Magnifying the touch-sensitive device 10 also includes a touch-sensitive film 18 integral with the magnifying lens 16. Here, "integral" means "directly or indirectly fixed". "indirectly fixed" is understood to mean fixed together parts or parts assemblies, which are fixed to the magnifying lens 16. As shown, the touch sensitive film 18 is disposed under the magnifying lens 16. In other words, the touch sensitive film 18 is here arranged between the touchscreen 12 of the electronic device 14 and the magnifying lens 16, preferably at a distance from the touchscreen 12 of the electronic device 14.
The touch sensitive film 18 is preferably substantially transparent. The touch sensitive film 18 may for example have a thickness of 0.1 to 1mm, for example 0.5 mm. The touch sensitive film 18 is, for example, a capacitance type. In this case, an electrostatic field is generated in the touch sensitive film 18 and/or the magnifying lens 16, and is disturbed when, for example, a finger touches the magnifying lens 16. The grid embedded in the touch sensitive film is then able to determine the coordinates of the point of contact of the finger, causing the touch sensitive film 18 to emit electrical signals representative of these coordinates.
In the example shown in fig. 1, an electrochromic screen 20 is further interposed between the touch sensitive film 18 and the magnifying lens 16. Such an electrochromic screen 20 is adapted to change colour and/or appearance (in particular from a substantially transparent state to a translucent or even opaque state) in dependence of an electrical control signal. The electrochromic screen 20 has a thickness of, for example, between 0.1mm and 1mm, in particular 0.5 mm.
As shown in FIG. 1, the enlarged touch sensitive device 10 also includes an electronic control unit 22 operatively connected to the electronic device 14, the touch sensitive film 18, and the electrochromic screen 20. In particular, the link 24 between the electronic control unit 22 and the electronic device 14 may be a wireless link, in particular of the bluetooth, infrared or equivalent type. The link 24 between the electronic control unit 22 and the electronic device 14 is advantageously a bidirectional link, so that the electronic control unit 22 can send information signals to the electronic device 14, and the electronic device 14 can also send information signals to the electronic control unit 22.
The links 26, 28 between the electronic control unit 22 on the one hand and the touch sensitive film 18 and the electrochromic screen 20 on the other hand are preferably wired links. The link 26 between the electronic control unit 22 and the touch sensitive film 18 may be a unidirectional connection so that the touch sensitive film 18 can send signals to the electronic control unit 22. However, the link 26 may also allow power to be supplied to the touch sensitive film 18. Alternatively, the connection 26 may be bidirectional, in particular in case the touch sensitive film 18 is equipped with a haptic function that allows a user to experience vibrations when touching the touch sensitive film 18.
Similarly, the link 28 between the electronic control unit 22 and the electrochromic screen 20 may be unidirectional such that the electronic control unit 22 may send electrical signals to the electrochromic screen 20. Also, the link 28 may allow power to be supplied to the electrochromic film 20.
In fig. 1, the enlarged touch sensitive device 10 further comprises a support 30 for the electronic device 14, the support 30 advantageously forming a housing for accommodating the electronic device 14. In particular, the magnifying lens 16 is integral with the support 30. In other words, the magnifying lens 16 is here fixed directly or indirectly to the support 30. The support 30 also comprises means for attachment in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. In the example shown, therefore, the support 30 is equipped with a suction cup 32, which can be fixed in particular on the windscreen or dashboard of a motor vehicle.
Alternatively, the support 30 may be formed by an interior trim part of a motor vehicle. In this case, the support 30 may be formed in particular by the dashboard of a motor vehicle or the armrest of a motor vehicle seat.
In both cases, the electronic control unit 22 may be specific to amplifying the touch-sensitive device 10, or conversely may be shared by several functions of the motor vehicle.
The operation of the magnifying touch sensitive device 10 is described below.
The electronic device 14 is housed in the support 30. Therefore, the position with respect to the magnifying lens 16 is fixed here.
The electronic device 14 then communicates with the electronic control unit 22, for example via bluetooth. The electronic device 14 may indicate, among other things, the position and size of the touch screen 12 to the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit 22 can then determine the location and size of the projection of the touch screen 12 on the magnifying lens 16 and on the touch sensitive film 18. Next, the electronic control unit 22 can define an active area of the touch sensitive film 18, which corresponds to the enlarged size of the touch screen 12, and can deactivate the remaining surface of the touch sensitive film. This makes it possible to avoid or limit touch signals emitted by surfaces outside the area of action when the user uses the touch-sensitive film 18.
Alternatively, the electronic device 14 only sends an identifier indicating which electronic device is involved (e.g. which model of mobile phone or tablet). In this case, the electronic control unit 22 may access a database indicating the position and dimensions of the touch screen 12 with respect to the support 30, for the model corresponding to the identifier sent by the electronic device. Additionally or alternatively, in this case, the position and size of the projection of the touchscreen 12 on the lens 16 and on the touch-sensitive film 18 may be obtained by the electronic control unit 22 by reading from a database, using the identifier sent by the electronic device 14.
As shown in fig. 2, in this case, the electronic control unit 22 can control the electrochromic screen 20 to have:
a transparent portion 20a, in this case centered, which corresponds to the position of the projection 12' of the touch screen 12 on the magnifying lens 16, and
a translucent or opaque portion 20b, which in this case surrounds the portion corresponding to the position of the projection 12' of the touch screen 12 on the magnifying lens 16, i.e. the portion 20 a. Thus, by means of the translucent or opaque portion 20b, the enlarged touch sensitive device 10 "hides" technical components of the electronic device 14, in particular the frame of the electronic device 14 surrounding the touch screen 12. A more aesthetic appearance and/or higher definition of the display on the magnifying lens 16 may be obtained.
The user 17 can then use the magnifying lens 16 as if it were the touch screen 12 of the electronic device 14. For example, by pressing with a finger, the touch-sensitive film 18 sends a signal to the electronic control unit 22, which the electronic control unit 22 retransmits to the electronic device 14 through the link 24, here wireless. Thus, the user 17 can use the enlarged touch sensitive device 10 in substantially the same manner as his or her electronic device 14. Advantageously, the magnification device 10 enables better visibility than the touch screen 12 of the electronic device 14.
The enlarged touch sensitive device 100 of FIG. 3 differs from the enlarged touch sensitive device 10 of FIG. 1 primarily in the location of the electrochromic film 20. Here, an electrochromic film 20 is fixed on a face 16b of the magnifying lens 16 facing the user 17. In this case, the electrochromic film may have at least one other function selected from the group consisting of: an anti-glare function, an anti-reflection function, a mechanical protection function of the magnifying lens 16, and an anti-fingerprint function. Specific treatments may be performed on the electrochromic film 20 to achieve one or more of these functions.
Furthermore, a mechanical cover glass 34 is fixed to the stack of the magnifying lens 16, the touch-sensitive film 18 and the electrochromic film 20 on the face intended to be directed to the user 17.
The enlarged touch sensitive device 200 of fig. 4 differs from the enlarged touch sensitive device of fig. 1 firstly in that it comprises a touch sensitive film 18' which also forms the electrochromic screen.
Also in this case, the magnifying touch-sensitive device 200 does not have any protective glass on its face intended to be directed towards the user 17. However, surface treatment 36 is applied to the face of the lens intended to be directed towards user 17. The surface treatment may advantageously provide at least one function selected from the group consisting of: an anti-glare function, an anti-reflection function, a mechanical protection function of the magnifying lens 16, and an anti-fingerprint function.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above but can have many variants available to a person skilled in the art.
In particular, the various embodiments described above may be combined.
Further, in the example, the lens, the touch-sensitive film, the electrochromic screen (if any), and the cover glass (if any) are fixed or adhered to each other by a common means (not shown). In the latter case, it is preferred to use a clear adhesive to maintain the optical properties of these various components. In this case a silicone adhesive, such as OCA, may be used. However, other glues and/or other means for attaching these various elements are available to those skilled in the art.
Also, the relative positions of the lens, the touch sensitive film and the electrochromic screen may be different from the described examples.
Finally, in the example shown, the magnifying lens is fixed in position with respect to the support, and therefore on the electronic device. Advantageously, the device is provided with means for determining the relative position of the magnifying lens with respect to the support or the electronic device, in particular in order to determine the distance between the magnifying lens and the touch screen of the electronic device, these means being adapted to transmit corresponding information to the electronic unit or the electronic device in order to match the point where the user taps on the magnifying touch-sensitive device with the point on the touch screen of the electronic device 14.
