目前，商品化性能最高的磁铁就是钕铁硼磁铁，被人们称为磁王，拥有极高的磁性能，其最大磁能积高过铁氧体的10倍以上，其本身的机械加工性能亦相当好，工作温度最高可达200摄氏度，而且其质地坚硬，性能稳定，有良好的性价比，故其应用极其广泛，但因其化学活性较强，所以必须对其表面进行凃层处理，现有技术的涂层只是做单层处理，处理效果较差，影响了钕铁硼磁铁的性能稳定，以及钕铁硼磁铁的使用寿命。
