操作时，在各个投饵腔14内投入诱蝇料，盖上饵料盖5，打开开关2，启动电动机1，横截面为正多边形转轮4沿图2中箭头方向每分钟1.2-1.5转的速度旋转。苍蝇停留在饵料盖5上后，随着转轮4转到落蝇腔16，落蝇腔16内只有落蝇孔21处具有亮光，大多数苍蝇会沿着落蝇孔21飞入蓄蝇腔24，少部分的苍蝇被活动刮板18刮动后，飞入蓄蝇腔24。晚上，光电管15自动将电动机1关闭。清除苍蝇时拉出插板23，将落蝇孔21关闭，将上箱体7向前推出，使上箱体7与下箱体8分离，把下箱体8内的苍蝇清理干净，与上箱体7连接后，即可继续使用。
