Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及一种包括刷柄和刷头的手动或动力(powered)牙刷。清洗元件例如刷毛簇和/或弹性体刷被安装到刷头上。当牙膏被施加到清洗元件上后，使用者将刷头插入口中并以已公知的方式刷牙。
背景技术
常规牙刷的刷头通常具有平的或略微倾斜的表面，清洗元件被附接到所述表面上。通常情况下，清洗元件为形成簇、捆或其它组群方式的塑性材料束。许多牙刷的目标是使清洗元件的外形轮廓适应被清洗的牙齿的外形轮廓。由于使牙刷的外形轮廓与一组典型的人类牙齿的复杂表面相配合存在困难，因此达到所述目标是复杂麻烦的。后者通常呈“C”形曲线，这需要牙刷具有凸形外曲线和凹形内曲线。此外，牙刷应该能够清洗牙齿表面上的不规则部分和牙齿间的邻间部分。
现有技术中已采取了多种方法用以适应人嘴的复杂形状和解决所伴随的清洗口中的牙齿和齿龈的困难。解决所述问题的一种方法是提供一种柔性牙刷头。
于1955年4月26日授权给布莱克曼(Blakeman)的美国专利No.2,706,825披露了一种用于牙刷的可替换的刷毛刷头。该柔性刷头以一种方式波动起伏以使得各排刷毛沿与牙刷柄的轴线成一直线的方向移动。
于1997年7月29日授权给汉斯海姆(Hans Halm)的美国专利No.5,651,158披露了一种具有分段的刷头的牙刷柄，其中相邻的各段通过弹性体材料连接。所述各段主要沿横向于牙刷的纵向轴线的方向取向，但也可沿与所述轴线平行的方向取向。
美国专利No.6,408,476披露了另一种形式的分段的牙刷头，其具有横向沟槽和连接所述各段的弹性体部分。还披露了一种制造这种刷头的方法。
美国专利No.5,903,949的主题是弹性体材料在折叠牙刷柄内的使用。
于1996年2月1日发表的国际公告号WO 96/02165披露了一种弹性柔性刷毛承载牙刷头，所述牙刷头利用大体上凹形的表面包含刷毛。所述柔性的刷头可在刷牙的作用下弯曲以适应使用者牙齿外形轮廓的变化。填充有弹性体材料的横向于或平行于牙刷的纵向轴线的沟槽，允许沿刷头的长度或在刷头的宽度上弯曲(第4-5页)。
在于1997年3月6日发表的国际公告号WO 97/07707的披露内容中，牙刷头的顶部区域被柔性地安装到刷头的刚性剩余部分上。柔性塑性材料形成了连接刷头的两个部分的连接部(铰链)(第2-3页)。在使用中，刷头的顶部区域可朝向刷头的刚性剩余部分向后折叠，从而使刷头能够更好地使自身适应使用者的牙齿的曲线形状。
另一种柔性牙刷头被披露在于1997年5月4日公开的欧洲专利说明书No.EP 0577 656 B1中。
发明内容
提供柔性刷头的前述方法的共同主题是在整个刷头上使用不同的材料以实现所需柔性。绝大部分以上引用的技术在刷头结构的连接处使用弹性体材料以提供所述柔性。本发明提出在刷头使用均质材料，而不是刷头的独立部分具有变化的物理性能，从而获得柔性。本研究提供了柔性牙刷头组件的相当大的简化。
用于形成刷头的优选材料具有足够刚性以保持刷头的结构和将清洗元件保持在刷头内的适当位置处，同时还提供所需柔性。所需的性能混合可通过在模制成型前混合两种或多种材料得以实现。优选的混合物采用大百分比(达到约50％)的热塑性弹性体(TPE)和聚丙烯。相应的组分百分比可由刷头的几何尺寸控制，越薄的刷头通常需要越少的热塑性弹性体(TPE)以获得柔性。
因为刷头中使用了较软的材料，因此清洗元件在刷头中的保持可需要特别的关注。因此，对卡钉的插入以适当地锚固清洗元件应给予特别的关注。另一种可选方式是，可通过使用用于布置和紧固牙刷刷毛的注射成形工艺(IMT)使清洗元件的组群或簇紧固在本发明的柔性刷头中。在注射成形工艺(IMT)中，刷毛优选在牙刷柄的形成或至少在刷头的形成过程中被附接。

具体实施方式
本发明的牙刷10包括刷柄12和刷头14。刷头14优选由柔性塑性材料制成，包括热塑性弹性体例如市售商标名为KRATON的弹性体，和聚丙烯的混合物。这种混合物，和与其相似的混合物为牙刷头提供了柔性和结构完整性的独特组合。
刷头14的所需柔性还是其形状和厚度的函数。因此，如图3所示，刷头14的厚度可逐渐减小或朝向牙刷10的远端逐渐变细以提高刷头14的柔性。
尽管本发明的一个目的是提供柔性刷头14，但是刷柄12通常应该更具有刚性以使得使用者可控制牙刷10作用在使用者的牙齿上的力。为达到该目的，所希望的是在牙刷10的刷柄12的至少一部分中包括更具刚性的塑料制品。为获得柔性刷头和相对刚性的刷柄的这种结合，可采取多种方法。KRATON和聚丙烯的柔性混合物可被用作刷柄的芯部材料16，所述芯部材料被更具刚性的塑性壳体18所围绕。相反地，芯部16可由更刚性的材料制成，且壳体18由热塑性弹性体(TPE)和聚丙烯混合物制成。如图3所示，后一种实施例为刷柄提供了柔软的“感觉”，且因此是绝大部分应用中的所需特征。
刷头14更柔性的混合材料的使用确实提出了一些关于清洗元件20在刷头14中的安放和保持的专门问题。在柔性刷头14的弯曲过程中，保持清洗元件20的刷头14中的孔22可被加宽或扩展，如图2所示。更具体而言，孔22的一个尺寸可被放大，如图2中示出的距离所示。所述孔22的放大可放松插入在刷头14中的清洗元件20在成簇端24上的保持力。为了最小化任何清洗元件20的组群可能从刷头14的孔22中被拉出的几率，所希望的是，谨慎细致地确定被用以将清洗元件20的成簇端紧固在孔22中的卡钉26的方向。因此，如图1所示，如果刷头14沿垂直于牙刷10的纵向轴线的线弯曲，如图中的箭头所示，那么卡钉26优选与弯曲轴线近似成一直线。因此，在弯曲过程中，卡钉最小限度地移动。
用于提高清洗元件20在柔性刷头14中的保持力的另一种可选实施方法是注射成形工艺(IMT)的使用。用于制造牙刷的所述工艺的描述见于美国专利Nos.5,390,984；5,533,791和5,609,890，所述专利的披露内容在此处作为参考被引用。
在注射成形工艺(IMT)中，当刷头14被形成时，清洗单元20的成簇端24被保持在适当位置。圆形端24呈蘑菇形状(参见图3和图4)，其基本上被用于形成刷头14的TPE/聚丙烯的混合物所围绕。所述蘑菇形状有助于将清洗元件20的成簇端24保持在适当位置，即使当刷头14的一条轴被伸长时。为了进一步提高清洗元件20在刷头14中的保持力，注射成形工艺(IMT)可通过局部加热以部分熔化清洗元件20的成簇端24，从而在端24之间形成桥部25。如图4所示，所述桥部25使端24处的多个清洗元件20的组群结合成一体。柔性刷头14随后在桥部25的周围被模制成型。这样显著地提高了清洗元件20在刷头14中的保持力。所述桥部的形成对于将清洗元件20保持在适当位置特别有效，在此处刷头14沿清洗元件相对于牙刷10的纵向轴线横向移动的方向弯曲，如图4所示。
任何适当形式的清洗元件可被用作本发明广义实施方式中的清洗元件20。术语“清洗元件”旨在用于一般意义，其可包括常规的纤维刷毛或按摩元件或其它形式的清洗元件例如布置成圆形横截面形状或包括平直部分或正弦曲线部分的任何类型的所需形状的弹性体指部或壁部。
应该理解清洗元件的具体图示示例仅为示例目的。可使用相同或不同清洗元件构型(例如扎成束的刷毛或模内工艺(in-moldedtechonlogy)刷毛等)的不同组合和/或使用相同的刷毛或清洗元件材料(例如尼龙刷毛、螺旋刷毛、橡胶刷毛等)，实施本发明。相似地，虽然图3一图4示出清洗元件大体上垂直于刷头14，然而清洗元件中的一些或全部可相对于刷头14的外表面呈不同角度。因此有可能选择清洗元件的构型、材料和取向的组合以实现具体的预期结果，从而提供附加的口腔保健利益，如增强的清洗性能、牙齿增光、牙齿增白和/或齿龈按摩。
本发明还可通过刷头14包括一个或多个承载清洗元件的动力或电动操作的活动部分被实施。
图5示出了包括具有清洗元件的动力驱动活动盘或部分40的牙刷10A。所述活动部分40例如可通过使用美国专利No.5,625,916所示类型的驱动机构旋转地摆动，或者可通过使用美国专利No.Re35,941所示类型的驱动机构进进出出地移动，所述两个专利的所有细节在此处作为参考被引用。另一种可选方式是，上面提到的其它类型的驱动机构可使部分40以其它方式和方向移动。尽管图5示出活动部分40位于刷头的一端，但是所述活动部分可位于刷头上的任何所需位置。

Claims (7)

1、一种牙刷，包括刷柄、紧固到所述刷柄上的刷头，所述刷头比刷柄具有更大的柔性且具有从其近端向远端逐渐变细的形状以提高其柔性，和紧固在刷头的凹部内的清洗元件。
2、根据权利要求1所述的牙刷，其中所述清洗元件通过使用模内工艺被紧固到所述刷头上。
3、根据权利要求1所述的牙刷，其中所述清洗元件通过使用沿所述牙刷头的弯曲轴线布置的卡钉被紧固在刷头中。
4、根据权利要求2所述的牙刷，其中所述清洗元件的至少一些成簇端通过使用模内工艺在所述刷头的成形过程中彼此连接。
5、根据权利要求1所述的牙刷，其中所述刷头由热塑性弹性体和聚丙烯的混合物模制成形。
6、根据权利要求5所述的牙刷，其中所述刷柄的至少一部分由热塑性弹性体和聚丙烯的混合物模制成形。
7、根据权利要求1所述的牙刷，其中包括清洗元件的所述牙刷的所述刷头在单一步骤中被制造出。
