一种基于GPS全球定位系统的电子地图通信装置，包括：控制装置，掌上电脑，GPS模块，GSM模块；其中：掌上电脑与GPS模块联接，对GPS模块初始化，掌上电脑装入电子地图并接收GPS模块传来的数据；掌上电脑与GSM模块联接，对GSM模块初始化，掌上电脑显示模拟键盘，用模拟键盘拨号接通无线通信网络；掌上电脑显示来电信息及模拟键盘，用模拟键盘选择接通无线通信网络；控制装置与掌上电脑联接，输出控制信号给掌上电脑并接收掌上电脑传来的信号；控制装置与GPS模块联接，输出控制信号给GPS模块并接收GPS模块传来的信号；控制装置与GSM模块联接输出控制信号给GSM模块并接收GSM模块传来的信号。
