Description

幕后商业广告节目结束的探测器和通知器
本发明涉及一种信息控制系统,尤其涉及一种在用户收看一个不同频道的同时某一特定频道中的商业广告节目已经结束时用于通知用户的方法和装置。
拥有大量多媒体内容和不同发送选择的现代社会给予我们巨大的挑选和选择范围。目前,通过不同的服务媒体,包括卫星抛物面天线、同轴电缆、电话线、光纤光缆和电视广播可以收看500多个不同的节目频道。为了收看不同的TV信号,大多数观众通常要花很多的时间在做“频道冲浪”,以试图找到一些他或她感兴趣看的频道。这种频道冲浪在商业广告节目间隔期间尤其频繁。一般的平均收看四到五个商业广告节目,但如果观众不喜欢某一个商业广告节目,那他或她就会调到另一个频道或是浏览多个频道,以期避开不喜欢的商业广告节目。但是,观众通常不知道不喜欢的商业广告节目的精确时段并在返回到该频道时错过要收看的部分内容。因此,不计时的频道切换导致观众错过重要的或感兴趣的信息。因而需要能够有精确的切回计时,以便继续收看希望的节目,将相关的错失减到最小。
本发明涉及这样一种方法和装置,在希望的频道的商业广告节目广播结束时用于通知观众切回到该希望的频道节目。
本发明提供的装置能够通知观众选择的商业广告节目的结束,并且包括:一个接收电路,用于接收输入的电视信号;一个片段探测器,用于确定商业广告节目的开始和结束;至少一个调谐器,用于对输入的电视信号解码;和一个控制器,用于通知观众在所述观众选择的频道中的商业广告节目已经结束。
本发明提供一种通知观众选择的商业广告节目已经结束的方法,该方法按照下列步骤进行:发送一个请求以从一个电视节目切换到另一个电视节目;将一条指示所述商业广告节目已经结束的信息发送给正在收看另一个节目的观众;以及选择性地切回到观众希望的频道。
通过下面参考附图的详细描述对本发明的方法和装置可以有更全面的理解;其中:
图1是根据本发明一个实施例的系统的简化框图;
图2是根据本发明一个实施例的频道控制系统;
图3是根据本发明在多个频道之间的自动切换操作;
图4是根据本发明通知观众切回到由观众选择的一个频道的操作步骤的流程图;以及
图5表示由本发明的系统通知而切回到用户选择的一个频道时显示屏的简化框图。
在下面的描述中,出于解释而非限定的目的,提出一些具体的细节,如特定的结构、界面、技术等,以便提供对本发明的全面理解。但是,本领域的技术人员应该理解,本发明也可以在其它没有这些具体细节的实施例中实施。而且为了清楚起见,省去对已知器件、电路和方法的详细描述,从而不混淆对带有不是必须的一些细节的本发明的描述。
图1是控制系统10的功能框图,根据本发明的一个示例的实施例,该系统能够在观众浏览多个频道/节目的同时通知观众其选择的一个频道中的商业广告节目已经结束。如图1所述,控制系统10从天线、电缆源和卫星接收广播信号,并将该信号发送给TV单元2用于显示。提供一个遥控器22,将观众发出的命令信号发送给控制系统10。虽然为了图示的目的将控制系统10耦接到TV单元2,但应该理解,控制系统10可以实施成一个TV单元2。另外,应该理解,本发明能够从其它的不同系统(即电话线、光纤、手动输入媒介(median)、记录介质等)或广播供应商接收信号。因而,附图中的输入信号源的数量不应强制在本发明的范围内。
参见图2,控制系统10的主要组件包括TV接收器/切换器12,片段探测器14,CPU 16,调谐电路18和一个频道显示器20。接收/切换电路12的功能在于对来自指定系统的各个源的输入频道信号解调和解码,其中信号包括视频和音频信息。CPU 16促使接收器/切换电路16响应于用户的输入(即频道变换请求或在不同可用频道上的冲浪)将这些解码的频道信号中的一个耦接到调谐电路18。之后,调谐电路16的输出提供给TV单元2以进行显示。本领域的技术人员容易理解,驱动电路可以组合到电视机中作为一个装置,利用众多标准技术中的任意一项把信号泵送到TV单元2的显示屏中。片段探测器14的功能在于判断节目之间商业广告节目的间隔时间。频道显示器20的功能在于显示TV单元2上显示的频道的标识符以及给观众发送一个信息,即观众选取的频道中的商业广告节目已经结束。应该注意,探测一个电视信号中的商业广告节目的开始和结束是该领域的公知技术,可以以各种方式进行。例如见1989年1月26日提交并于1992年9月29日公布的美国专利US 05/151,788所述,该专利的内容在此引为参考。
还提供一个红外(IR)遥控器22以与CPU 14通信,对CPU 14发出观众选择的指令。此处,遥控器22包括一个数字键盘形式的常规的频道改换钮,一个音量控制钮和一个上调频道/下调频道钮。在操作模式中,如果遥控器22发送的信号包括频道切换信息,则选取的频道数就显示在频道显示器20上。如果发送的信号包括其它的控制信号,如音量控制和TV操作设置,则CPU 16通知控制系统10的适当的控制电路(未示出)进行操作。
操作中,使用遥控器22,在显示下一个节目片段之前,观众利用遥控器22在节目的结尾处规定一个特定的频道以便被告知多个商业广告节目的结束。例如,观众在商业广告节目期间改换到一个不同频道的同时,该观众选定正在播放足球比赛的频道台4。为了实现这种情况,如图3所示,片段探测器14探测不同频道的节目片段之间商业广告节目的持续时间。通过这种方式,从多个节目源发出的每个频道信号与时间指示器相关,指示商业广告节目间隔期间内商业广告节目的开始和结束。当观众在t1时刻从频道A改换到频道B、并在观看频道B或其它频道的同时要求控制系统10通知在t3时刻商业广告节目结束时,CPU 16控制调谐器18和接收/切换电路12的输出,解码并选择频道B以对观众显示。然后,在t3时刻,通知观众商业广告节目结束。此时,观众可以利用遥控器22选择性地切回到频道A,或者可以对控制系统10编程,使得自动切回到频道A。因此,观众可以简单地按频道号的键和指定的键,如页码下调键(即向下滚动键),在商业广告节目间隔结束时显示所需的频道节目,同时收看或浏览其它频道。
图4是通知观众上述商业广告节目的结束的方法的流程图。参见图4,在步骤100中,可以通过自动设置程序触发通知观众的最初设置,探测输入频道信号并识别商业广告节目间隔的开始和结束,如图3所示。步骤200判断观众是否已经激活了自动通知模式以探测频道A中商业广告节目块的结束。为了实现这种效果,可以通过操纵IR遥控器22上的各种键直接输入指令。在步骤300中,遥控器20将把频道切换指令信号发送给CPU 16,并且在步骤400,对观众显示频道B。之后,在步骤500,当频道A的商业广告节目结束时,CPU 16促使频道显示器20通知观众商业广告节目已结束,如图5所示。注意,可以采用各种常规的方法通知观众。或者,如果由观众利用遥控器22选择这样一种模式,则可以自动地执行切回到观众选取的频道A。
从前述中可以明确,根据本发明的方法和装置具备的优点在于允许观众浏览其它频道的同时不错失喜欢的节目。因此观众简单地调到一个台,然后根据需要改换该频道,没有必须手工地在频道之间切换的不便,不会错过喜欢的节目的任何部分。
虽然以上已经图示并描述了本发明的优选实施例,但本领域的技术人员会理解,在不脱离本发明范围的前提下可以对本发明做各种变化和改型,可以用等同物替换其中的元件。另外,在不脱离本发明中心范围的前提下可以有很多的改型以适应具体的情况和本发明的教导。因此,本发明的意图不限于展示执行本发明的最佳模式的具体实施例;相反,本发明包括落入所附的权利要求书范围内的所有实施例。

Claims (9)

1.一种用于通知观众选取的频道中商业广告节目已结束的装置,包括:
一片段探测器,其耦接成从多个源接收输入频道信号并用于确定所述频道信号内所述商业广告节目的开始和结束;
至少一个调谐器,其耦接成接收所述输入频道信号,所述调谐器可操纵用于对其上接收到的输出信号解码;和
耦接到所述片段探测器和所述调谐器的控制器,所述控制器可操纵用于通知在所述观众选取的所述频道中所述商业广告节目的结束。
2.如权利要求1所述的装置,还包括一遥控器件,用于把观众的要求发送给所述控制器。
3.如权利要求1所述的装置,还包括一频道显示器,用于显示至少一个代表所述观众选取的所述频道的频道号,并用于显示一表示所述商业广告节目已经结束的信息。
4.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述调谐器的输出信号耦接到用于显示的电视单元。
5.如权利要求1所述的装置,其特征在于,所述输入频道信号从电缆、天线、卫星、电话线、光纤、手动输入媒介和记录介质中发送。
6.如权利要求1所述的装置,包括:
一接收电路,其耦接成接收输入电视信号;其中片段探测器布置成用于确定所述电视信号内所述商业广告节目的开始和结束;
至少一个调谐器,其耦接成从所述接收电路接收所述输入电视信号,所述调谐器可操纵用于对所述接收到的电视信号解码;和
耦接到所述接收电路、所述调谐器和所述片段探测器的控制器,所述控制器可操纵用于重现代表所述观众选取的节目的输出信号,并用于通知所述观众在所述观众选取的所述频道中的所述商业广告节目已结束。
7.一种用于通知观众选取的频道中商业广告节目已结束的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:
接收多个电视节目;
发送一请求,以从一个电视节目切换到另一个观众选取的电视节目;
为所述观众显示所述另一个电视节目;
向所述观众发送一表示所述商业广告节目已结束的信息;和
将所述重现的电视节目传送给所述电视系统以显示。
8.如权利要求6所述的方法,还包括发送切换信号以返回到所述一个电视节目的步骤。
9.如权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:
使所述观众能够通过遥控器件指定将被告知所述商业广告节目已结束的所述频道的步骤;
响应于所述观众,从所述一个电视节目切换到所述另一个节目的步骤。
