Detailed description in the preferred embodiment
Fig. 1 represents the cross section of the coverage material of elongate foam strips. The elongated cross section (that is, elongate strip has a crooked longitudinal edge 2a, 2b) of being generally of a band round nose is arranged this foam strip 1 and as the result who uses this method to make, foam strip has a cold joint joint close 3a, 3b along each longitudinal edge. This cold joint joint close 3a, 3b are keeping warp architecture and the cross-sectional structure thereof of longitudinal edge 2a, the 2b of this foam strip.
Foam strip 1 has the width of an about 28mm between cold joint joint close 3a, 3b, and is approximately 13.5mm (promptly between two principal planes 4,5) at core thickness.Pressure sensitive adhesive strip 6 is positioned on the principal plane 4 of foam strip 1 and is adjacent to a wherein longitudinal edge (2a).Adhesive strip 6 has the width of an about 10mm, and adhesive strip 6 and the foam strip outermost edge that is adjacent have the distance (this distance is parallel to surperficial 4 and records) of about 3.5mm.
In another form, foam strip 1 has the width of an about 29mm between cold joint joint close 3a, 3b, and the thickness of an about 10.5mm is arranged between main face 4,5.This adhesive strip 6 has the width of an about 10mm, and is positioned at the about 3.5mm of the foam strip outermost edge place (this distance is parallel to surface 4 and records) from adjacency. On the whole, the size that can use is that the width of foam strip 1 between cold joint joint close 3a, 3b is between 25mm to 35mm.Thickness between main face 4,5 is between 5mm to 15mm (being generally between the 10mm to 15mm).The width of adhesive strip 6 is between 8mm to 12mm, and adhesive strip 6 is from the distance of the outermost edge of adjacency 2mm at least.
All are suitable, can both be used as foam strip by the compression foam of cold-weldable.Usually this foam is the opening polymeric foam.As the opening polyester form, density is 20 to 30 kilograms per cubic meter. The density that one polyester form that is fit to has is approximately 26 kilograms per cubic meter, can be from Britain, and the Kai Lijin foam Co., Ltd of Lancashire Accrington can obtain, and the trade mark is " X4200AM ".
Any suitable pressure sensitive adhesive strip can both be used as adhesive strip 6, and preferable one is that (for example heat is melted the rubber adhesion bar) covered by mould and be used for foamed material.Adhesive strip coats the selection of weight will guarantee that it and other parts of vehicle have enough degree of adhesions so that use foam strip 1 thereon.
Foam strip 1 has cross section as shown in Figure 1, this foam strip can be by a foam web, the technology manufacturing forms described in the utilization patent EP-A-0384626, and wherein cold joint joint close 3a, 3b form by vertically compressing this net with one group of blunt rotating blade in a certain distance apart from one another. This foam strip generally can be from rolling up or rolling up and provide around a core.As patent EP-A-0384626 further describes, can foam strip 1 be interconnected by cold joint joint close 3a, 3b and produce a row foam strip, this row foam strip separates with hand.Fig. 2 illustrates the part of these row. These row also can provide with the form of rolling.
As Fig. 3 example, foam strip 1 can be used to cover between the removable panel 11 of vehicle and the gap 10 between the vehicle other parts 12.Removable panel 11 can be the thing such as bonnet or luggage case, and other parts 12 can be the car bodies of adjacency.Panel 11 move to its open position (not shown in Fig. 3) and foam strip 1 by adhesive strip 6 and panel inboard at the edge 14 places bonding, so longitudinal edge 2b protrudes from panel.Removable panel 11 is shifted to its closing position then, causes edge 14 bendings of the projection of foam strip along panel 11, and places gap 10 when panel 11 closures. In some occasion, the edge 2b of foam strip 1 can protrude from gap 10 when panel 11 is closed, on the outer surface of panel 11.Projection can play the effect of covering the border in gap 10 during spraying paint, and does not need so sometimes, for example uses initial coating then to need not to use smooth plating layer on panel 11 on face plate edge.In case of necessity, the part that foam strip 1 is any to protrude from the gap can be pushed back before carrying out spraying paint, up to foam strip with till the adjacent surface of panel 11 is concordant.
Example as shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5, foam strip 1 are used for covering " B " intercolumniation crack 20 (" B " post is a pillar 21 between the front end at the rear end at vehicle Qianmen 22 and back door 23) of vehicle. For covering the gap 20 in " B " post 21 the place aheads, open position (not shown in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5) is shifted at vehicle Qianmen 22, by adhesive strip 6, foam strip 1 is bonding in rear edge with this inboard, so the longitudinal edge 2b of foam strip (promptly away from that limit of the adhesive strip) protrudes from this door.Close door 22 then, cause the curved edge of the projection of foam strip, thereby make the projection of foam strip place as shown in Figure 4 " B " intercolumniation crack 20 along this plate. As described in connection with Fig. 3, the edge 2b of foam strip 1 can protrude from gap 20 or be pushed back in the gap before carrying out spraying paint, up to foam strip with till abutment surface is concordant.
As shown in Figure 6 example like that, foam strip 1 also can be used to cover " A " intercolumniation crack 30 (" A " post be positioned at the front end at vehicle Qianmen 32 and the pillar 31 between the leading flank (panel) 33) of vehicle. In this case, can make panel (being Qianmen 32) to opening that direction moves and foam strip 1 adheres to the inward flange of non-moving part (being front side 33), so the longitudinal edge 2b of foam strip protrude towards outside vehicle. So when removable panel 32 was closed, foam strip that part of placed gap to be covered. The edge 2b of foam strip can protrude from gap 30 or can forced back towards in the gap before carrying out spraying paint as mentioned above, up to foam strip with till vicinal face is concordant.
Li method also can be used for covering the gap between vehicle tail door top and adjacent car body (in fact, being the roof back edge) as shown in Figure 6.In this case, tail-gate is opened, and foam strip 1 adheres to vehicle interior side, so the longitudinal edge 2b of foam strip protrudes towards outside vehicle. Then, when tail-gate was closed, foam strip placed gap to be covered.
