本发明涉及一种用于至少与一个导电体电连接并切去该导电体端部的电连接器。
有许多种在连接时同时完成切割及导线连接操作的电连接器。例如:美国3,202,957;美国4,326,767;美国4,496,206;及美国4,444,447。
具体地说,美国3,202,957公布了一种U形连接元件,这里,U形的第一腿包括用于以绝缘剥除(IDC)的方式与一条导线相连的狭槽。U形的另一条腿做的很锋利,使得随着第一条腿的连接它同时切断此导线,这样,多余的导线就被除掉了,且此导线相应于连接元件的单一运动而实现电连接。
美国4,326,767公布了一种电连接器,它的主体有一个U形连接元件及绝缘罩。此U形连接元件与前面在美国3,202,957中所描述的相似,而其绝缘罩嵌入主体以把导线带入到连接元件的连接狭槽中,且顶着连接元件的锋利的第二条腿,以随着连接同时切断导线的端部,其中,此主体和罩包括互相结合的搭扣结构以定义一个导线可以被插入到连接器的打开位及一个主体和罩互相完全嵌入的折叠的关闭位,使导线的多余端被切去,且连接元件在其上的连接狭槽处与导线相连。在其公布中,还包括用于在导线端被切除且剥皮后密封此电连接器的端部的互相结合的罩,因而,防止污染物进入,或密封介质,如油脂的流出。最后,还提供了一个倾斜壁,当罩和主体彼此嵌入到关闭位时,去除导线用的连接元件的锋利的刃与该壁成支撑关系。
虽然前面提到的连接器性能很好,最好还是对它们的一些缺点进行改进。第一个问题就是公布在美国4,326,767中的互相结合的罩。这些罩包含一个作为罩的一部分形成的、且其通常的偏置位置为开位的门。为了关闭此门来密封连接器单元,用户必须移动此门,使得门上的搭扣结构与电连接器的另一元件相结合。这就导致了这样的可能性,即安装者可能忘记关上罩或如果搭扣元件脱开,罩将会打开。前面所述连接器结构的另一个不利因素是,很难测试电互连的连续性。完成此事的典型方法在罩和主体互相完全嵌入后,使得连接元件与导线相连且导线的端部已被切下,使用探测器去接触连接元件的第二条腿,这里它被去掉的导线端所暴露。此过程的一个问题是,为了保证导线端的干净切除,一个锋利的第二刃必须完全跨过此通道延伸,使得测试器只顶着此锋利的第二腿,且必须与此保持确实接触。此过程对于安装者是很难的,因为必须用双手来拿连接器及测试装置。一个进一步的不利情况发生在罩门已被搭扣到其位而又必须测试上述连接器的互连的连续性时。这时,安装者必须首先撬开互相结合的搭扣元件,使得门可以被打开以提供进入连接元件的锋利的第二条腿的通道。这样做可能导致搭扣元件的损坏,从而连接器的门不能完全关闭并搭扣到位。
因而,最好提供一种这样的上述类型的连接器,使它的罩通常偏置于闭合的位置,从而保证连接器保持密封。进一步,最好以铰的弹性来保持此关闭位,从而不再需要互相结合搭扣元件,使得罩结构可以在以后的测试或进入时易于打开。
最好提供一种如上面总体描述的电连接器,它带有一个可以接触到U形连接元件的通道的通道口,使得它能够把测试探测器与其中的连接元件连接起来并确定地保持在那里。最好把此通道包括在用于在除去切下的导线端后罩住通道的罩结构的下面。
本发明的目的是通过把通常偏置在关闭位的罩结构纳入到前面一般性描述的连接器中来完成的,使得当主体和罩完全嵌入彼此且无障碍存在时,密封住导线端被从其切除的通道。
另一个目的是提供一种如前面一般性描述的电连接器,其特点是提供一个通道口,使得测试探测器可以达到并与连接元件接触。
下面将参考下列图,以例子的形式说明本发明,其中:
图1是根据本发明且包括一个测试探测器示意图的电连接器的分解透视图;
图2是图1的电连接器的主体的俯视透视图;
图3是图1的电连接器的局部分解后向透视图,示出了主体内的U形连接器;

首先参考图1-3,根据本发明的电连接器总体上以标号2示出。电连接器2包括一个主体4,一U形连接元件6及一个罩8。主体4包括一个底座10。从底座10延伸而来的是一个探出部分12。位于底座10上面的是导线定位结构14。导线定位结构14包括一个前接合壁16和一个后接合壁18。后接合壁18包括一个由底座10向上延伸的垂直表面20和一个倾斜的密封表面22。一对导线接插通道24伸过导线定位结构14的接合壁16,18并跨过第一接合壁16和探出部分12之间的间隙26,然后穿过探出部分120。每一个通道24的一侧开有狭槽28而形成开口,使得通道24有一个C形的截面,此截面产生此结构必须的弹性。跨过接合壁16,18的分别是第一和第二定位轨30,32。第一定位轨30以相应的狭槽28与第二定位轨32相分离。每一个定位轨30,32包括一个锥状型面34,接着该型面34形成一个扇形座36。此锥状型面34和扇形座36与在罩8内的筋(未示出)相配合以确定一个预安装位置。当连接器罩8与主体4相嵌入且筋被接受在扇形座36内时,导线就可以被插入到连接器2中。之后,必须加足够的力才能使罩8进一步嵌入主体4,使得导线连接象如下描述那样发生。当施加了足够的力,筋便滑出第一轨30的扇形座36并进入狭槽28,而与第二轨32的型面34相接触。进一步施加力时,型面34使筋向外偏置并进入扇形座36。第二轨32是定义完全关闭位的,其中,导线将与接触元件6实现电连接。位于接合壁16,18之间沿每一通道24相对于狭槽28的是分离隔板38。每一个分离隔板38通过连接元件接插间隔40,42(图2)与接合壁16,18分离开来。位于分离隔板38之间的是探测器间隙区44。通道口46伸过第二接合壁18且与探测器接插间隙区44相对齐以使测试探测器78与连接元件6相连接。
连接元件6(图1)是一个U形导电元件。它的第一腿48至少有一个连接狭槽50。此连接狭槽50配置成通过剥除如绝缘线等导电元件的绝缘层来实现与导电元件的电连接。一个特别的例子就是绝缘剥皮接触结构。在第一腿48的对面是在其自由端具有斜截切边54的第二腿52。间隔56大致形成在第二腿52的自由端的中心处。腿48,52由底座58互连。底座58包括一对孔60。象工业实践中常见的那样,通过对穿过这对孔的热成塔形杆(pylon)(未示出)进行热接(heat staking)把连接元件6加到罩8上。
携带连接元件6且嵌入到主体4上的罩8一般为空心元件,其相对侧壁62用罩元件64和前板66互连。相对于相对侧壁62与前板66相交处是一对端腿68。端腿68被形成在其间的间隙70所分离。垂下物72沿缝74连接到罩元件64上,在此形成一个具有自然或释放位置的弹性铰,使得垂下物72的倾斜大致与第二接合壁18的倾斜密封表面22的倾斜相对应,以密封第二接合壁,如下面将介绍的那样。最好使垂下物的倾角大于倾斜密封表面的倾角,使得在二者之间产生弹性力以保证垂下物始终顶着倾斜密封表面。在垂下物72的最端头是一个用于操纵此垂下物72的轨76。垂下物72被配置成能安装在腿68之间而不会产生干涉。垂下物72可以是可变形的且沿其端腿68连接到罩8上。
一个典型的测试探测器总体以78示出。测试探测器78包括一个主体80。自其上延伸出最好为钩状的元件82。钩状元件82可以是弹性加载的,如在电测量仪器中常见的那样。通道口46的尺寸应能接受钩状元件82。
罩8嵌入到导线定位元件14上,使得侧壁62包围定位轨30,32,从而沿侧壁62的内表面定位的筋可以用轨30,32来啮合。当导线被接插到通道24内且延伸过第二接合壁18,而罩8沿轨76安装时,垂下物72将与导线相接触。倾斜垂下物72的轨76和导线之间的干涉导致垂下物在腿68之间向外变形,使得当罩8嵌入到主体4时,垂下物进一步向外变形。当罩8从预安装位置被移到完全搭扣的位置时,沿缝74形成的弹性铰弹性变形,而同时导线也已连接到连接元件6的狭槽50中。这时,连接元件6锋利的第二腿52切断由接合壁18通道28内的一部分支撑着的导线的端部。由接合壁18提供的支撑和与弹性垂下物72的干涉的组合使导线端部保持在连接器壳2内。一旦罩8的筋被接插到第二定位轨32内,安装者就可以除去线端。弹性垂下物72由于铰74的弹性和所用材料的记忆特性并在罩8的铰的作用下顶着倾斜密封表面22,因而密封开口通道24。
现在参考图4,电连接器2被示为完全与一对导线84连接。探出部分12包围住导线且吸收导线的应变。罩8被嵌入到主体4上,而垂下物72被示出为顶着第二接合壁18的倾斜密封表面的自然位置。如可以进一步从图5看到的那样,轨76从第二接合壁18的垂直部分20向外延伸。当希望对在第一腿48处形成的电互连的连续性进行测试时,在轨76处提起垂下物72,就可以通过通道口46把测试探测器78插入到连接器2中,这可以从图6中更为清楚地看到。
进一步参看图6,测试探测器78的钩状元件82通过连接元件6后面的缺口56进入到通道口46,并与连接件相连以确定电连接情况。如图所示,垂下物72可以楔入测试探测器78的主体80而与之相干涉,从而帮助把测试探测器保持就位。如一般用于测试探测器的形式那样,接触部分82应为弹性加载,且这样的干涉会形成有利的,尽管不一定是必须的配合。也可以把测量探测器78与连接器2结构的其它部分相配合。

Claims (6)

1.一种电连接器(2),它包括:罩(8)和用于接插导线(84)的主体(4);连接元件(6),被置于罩(8)和主体(4)间,其包括用于连接主体(4)内的导线(84)的第一腿(48)和制成锋利状以切断导线的多余端的第二腿(52),其中,主体(4)和罩(8)有一个导线(84)可以被插入到连接器(2)中的开位,和一个主体(4)和罩(8)完全嵌入在一起且通过互相配合的搭扣结构(36)被搭扣到一起的关闭位,并将导线的多余端切下;连接元件(6)与导线(84)相配合;密封结构(72),用于密封从其处切去多余导线端的通道(24)的开口,其特征在于,密封结构(72)一般偏置在关闭位。
2.根据权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于,所述的密封结构(72)是通过弹性铰(74)连接到罩(8)上的垂下物(72),当主体(4)和罩(8)互相嵌入时所述垂下物(72)与导线(84)的多余端相干涉并发生变形,而移去所述多余端后,垂下物(72)回弹到密封位置。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的电连接器,其特征在于,主体包括一对通道(24),其中放置导线,通道(24)被通道口(46)分开,通道口(46)置于密封结构(72)之后且延伸到主体(4)内,而与连接元件(6)相沟通。
4.根据权利要求3所述的电连接器,其特征在于,连接元件(6)包括一个形成在第二腿(52)中的缺口(56),这里,所述的缺口(56)与通道口(46)对齐。
