Abstract

The present invention relates to a water-soluble powder detergent and a liquid detergent composition obtainable by mixing said water-soluble powder detergent with a polar solvent, preferably an aqueous solvent, more preferably water. The invention also relates to the use of the liquid detergent composition for pre-cleaning and/or interior cleaning and/or exterior cleaning of vehicles or parts thereof, or for cleaning industrial floors and/or surfaces.

Description

Concentrated water-soluble powder detergents
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a water-soluble powder detergent, a liquid detergent composition comprising the water-soluble powder detergent and the use of the liquid detergent composition for pre-cleaning and/or interior cleaning and/or exterior cleaning of a vehicle or a component thereof, or for cleaning industrial floors and/or surfaces.
Background
In the detergent industry, in particular in the detergent industry for car washing or general industry, the use of water-based liquid detergents has been known for some time, which are typically produced and packaged in plastic packages in the form of 10kg, 25kg, 100kg, 200kg or 1000 kg. This type of packaging is necessary for safe transport of the liquid, involving the use of relatively large amounts of plastic, which constitutes about 5% of the total product weight. Since this type of detergent is usually manufactured in a production plant and is then delivered to the end user only by transporting (typically by road) the aforementioned packages, it is obvious that not only is a large amount of plastic, but also the fuel cost and consumption of transporting the aforementioned liquids (relatively heavy) are disadvantageous from both an economic point of view (management and maintenance costs of the transport means) and from an environmental point of view.
Thus, there remains a need in the industry to reduce the amount of plastic packaging used, and at the same time reduce the cost of shipping large quantities of liquid detergents, while reducing the overall environmental impact.
The present invention addresses the above-listed drawbacks by providing a water-soluble powder detergent that allows for the preparation of liquid detergent solutions with optimal detergent capabilities directly on site when needed.
Furthermore, the present invention allows the preparation of detergent solutions having the desired concentration, which can be adjusted according to the specific application (i.e. pre-cleaning of the vehicle, cleaning of industrial floors and/or surfaces or vehicles, cleaning of interior finishing materials, rim cleaning, etc.), by mixing the above-mentioned powders with a polar solvent, preferably an aqueous solvent, in suitable amounts. The present invention provides an advantageous system as compared to having to purchase a different liquid detergent for each specific application, as it can be implemented each time during the actual application and can be customized. The present invention thus allows for a reduction in the amount of detergent transported to the end user, thereby greatly reducing environmental impact and transportation and logistics costs.

Without wishing to be bound by a particular theory, the applicant has observed that, thanks to the combination of the particular powder compounds described above, it is possible to obtain a water-soluble powder detergent which, once mixed with a polar solvent (preferably an aqueous solvent, more preferably water), forms a homogeneous and stable solution over time (i.e. does not form insoluble substances) easily and rapidly. The solutions, preferably aqueous solutions, formed thereby (for the purposes of the present invention, referred to as "liquid detergent compositions") are effective detergents which ensure adequate removal of various types of soils (organic and synthetic) even at low concentrations, low temperatures (i.e. even at temperatures slightly above 0 ℃) and in the presence of particularly hard water.
The advantages of the present invention are also related to the fact that such a powder detergent can be easily transported and once it has arrived at the destination and when actually needed, is dissolved in a polar solvent (preferably in an aqueous solvent, more preferably in water) in the desired concentration for the purpose of the specific intended use according to the invention, to form an optimal detergent liquid composition without wasting product and excessive transportation and/or packaging costs.
Alternatively, as already mentioned above, the more concentrated liquid detergent composition may be diluted up to the optimal concentration for use according to the invention, in which case packaging and transportation costs/safety are also saved.
Thus, among the advantages of the present invention, it is possible to include transport savings of up to 80%, production costs optimisation, minimization of packaging processes, and the possibility of obtaining on-demand detergents customizable for different uses by easily and rapidly varying the concentration of the powders diluted or dissolved in the polar solvent (preferably aqueous solvent, more preferably water).
