Abstract

A glove donning device has a body with spaced apart sides defining a hand-receiving void therebetween. The apparatus engages adjacent glove box retainers along the glove guide track. In use, a glove may be pulled from the glove box onto and along the rail, with the rail splaying to pull its fastening tabs apart, thereby opening its glove for hand insertion therein. The hand may be inserted into the opening of the glove via the open insertion top of the body and the glove may be pulled laterally from the open removal side, wherein the glove pulls an adjacent glove along the track, and wherein the glove is disconnected from the adjacent glove.

Disposable glove putting on and taking off device
Technical Field
The present invention relates generally to devices for donning gloves conveniently and quickly. The device may further comprise means for quick release of the glove.
Background
Disposable gloves are used to prevent the spread of bacteria, and people often discard and replace disposable gloves.
Disposable gloves are typically removed from a pre-packaged glove box body and placed on one hand with the other. However, such manual manipulation can spread disease, especially when one hand is occupied, which is more inconvenient.
There is a need for a convenient and quick method of donning gloves, preferably with one hand. There is also a need for a method of conveniently and quickly disengaging a glove in a safe and convenient manner.
It will be appreciated that if any prior art information is referred to herein, such reference does not constitute an admission that the information forms a part of the common general knowledge in the art, in australia or any other country.
Disclosure of Invention
A glove donning apparatus is provided herein having a body with spaced apart sides defining a hand-receiving void therebetween.
The sides define an open insertion top and an open removal side. The apparatus also includes a glove box retainer opposite the removal side, the glove box including a plurality of disposable gloves packaged therein. The gloves are releasably gathered together at their wrists, each glove including a pair of fastening tabs on either side of its opening, the tabs being aligned when the gloves are stacked within the box.
The apparatus includes a glove guide rail along the open insertion top having an insertion end directed toward the glove box retainer such that when the glove box is inserted into the glove box retainer, its insertion end passes through the aligned fastening tabs thereof.
Thus, in use, the glove may be pulled from the glove box onto and along the track, wherein the track expands to pull its fastening tabs apart, thereby opening its opening for hand insertion therein.
The hand may be inserted into the opening of the glove via the open insertion top and pulled laterally from the open removal side, wherein the glove pulls an adjacent glove along the track, and wherein the glove breaks away from the adjacent glove.
A glove stripping apparatus is also provided that includes a barrel including a stripping collar. The release collar includes an interior having an annular arrangement of inwardly directed fasteners so as to be oriented to pull the glove from a hand inserted into the barrel in use.

Detailed Description
The apparatus 100 may include a glove donning device 101 having a body 103 with spaced apart sides 102, the sides 102 defining a hand receiving a void 104 therebetween. The body 103 may have a height of about 200 mm, a length of about 180 mm and a width of about 80 mm.
The side 102 defines an open insertion top 105 and an open removal side 106.
Glove donning apparatus 101 also includes glove box retainers 107 opposite removal side 106.
Glove box retainer 107 secures the position of glove box 108, glove box 108 including a plurality of disposable gloves 109 packaged together therein. Glove 109 may be joined together at its wrist 110.
Each glove 109 also includes a pair of fastening tabs 111 on either side of its opening 112. When the glove 109 is packaged together, the fastening tabs 111 are aligned.
Referring to fig. 5, the cassette 108 may be removed from the case 113 by the glove tab retainers 114. Glove tab retainer 114 may include a clamp 115 for engaging engagement formation 116 within box retainer 107 shown in fig. 4, and may include a pair of cylindrical hooks 117 that extend through mating fastening tabs 111 in the manner shown in fig. 6. The engagement formation 116 may include a slot 118 that receives a cylindrical hook 117.
Glove box retainer 107 is laterally slidable from body 103 in the manner shown in fig. 4 to expose engagement formation 116 for loading glove 109 therein in the manner shown in fig. 6.
Cartridge retainer 107 may include push-release tabs 119 that engage within corresponding apertures 120 of body 103, and push-release tabs 119 may be depressed to release glove cartridge retainer 107.
Once glove 109 is loaded into glove box retainer 107, glove box retainer 107 may be closed, in the manner shown in fig. 7.
Referring to fig. 3, glove donning apparatus 101 may include a pair of glove rails 121 along open insert top 105. The guide track 121 may include an insertion end 122 that extends into the fastening tab 111 of the glove 109.
Specifically, when glove box retainer 107 is closed in the manner shown in fig. 7, distal end 122 of rail 121 may be inserted into cylindrical hook 117 of fastening tab retainer 114. As further shown in fig. 3, the tracks may diverge in a direction away from their distal ends 122.
Each track 121 may include glove position retention fold bars 150 to secure each glove 109 and position for donning.
Referring to fig. 6, first sleeve 107 may include a pull tab 123 that may be used to pull first sleeve 109 onto track 121. When the glove 109 is disengaged from the cylindrical hook 117, its fastening tab 111 slides along each track 121, and when the tracks are opened, the fastening tab 111 moves apart to open its opening 122 for the insertion of a hand therein in the manner shown in fig. 8.
Thus, in the manner shown in fig. 9, a hand can be inserted through the open insertion top 105 into the opening 112 of the glove 109, the opening 112 being located in the receiving space 104 which is kept open by the rail 121.
In the manner shown in fig. 10, a hand wearing glove 109 may be pulled laterally from the open removal side 106 to remove glove 109 from the wearing device 101 in the manner shown in fig. 11.
In the manner shown in FIG. 8, as described above, the wrists 110 of the gloves 109 may be brought together such that each glove 109 pulls the next adjacent glove 109 of the glove tab retainer 114 onto the track 121.
Each glove 109 may include a wrist tab 124 for bringing the gloves 109 together. The wrist tab 124 may include a preparation portion for tearing between the wrist tabs.
Alternatively, the wrist tabs 124 may overlap and one of the wrist tabs 124 may include a less tacky surface thereon. In this way, the wrist tabs 124 may be pulled apart to release the glove 109 from one another and may further be used to secure the wrist 110 of the glove 109 around the wrist of the hand when worn.
In the manner shown in fig. 21, the glove may be packaged in the same hand. As such, glove donning device 101 may be used to donn left hand glove 109 or right hand glove 109. In an embodiment, a user may wear a pair of glove donning devices 102, each of which respectively dispenses left-hand and right-hand gloves 109.
In the manner shown in fig. 2, glove 109 may be packaged with opposite hands such that glove donning device 101 may alternately dispense glove 109 for the left and right hands.
Referring to fig. 20, glove box retainer 107 may include a viewing window 125 through which the extent of the remainder of glove 109 may be visually determined.
In addition to pushing the release tab 119, the glove box retainer 107 may also be held in place by a safety latch 126 that is operable to be pushed under the edge of the open insertion top 105.
Referring to fig. 2, the back side 102 of the glove donning device 101 may include a strap clamp 127 for donning the glove donning device 102 on the strap 128.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 17, the glove donning apparatus 101 may include an attachment rail 129, the attachment rail 129 being slidably retained within the groove 130 along a lower surface 131 of the body 103. The attachment rail 129 may include a plurality of apertures 132 for securing the attachment rail 127 to a surface.
Fig. 18 shows an engagement structure 133 with an attachment groove 134 and a clamp 135, the clamp 135 being used to secure the engagement structure 133 to an edge of a table or the like. The engagement structure 133 also supports an attachment rail 136 along its upper surface that is slidable into the groove 130. In this way, the glove donning apparatus 101 may be secured to a table surface using the engagement structure 133.
Fig. 19 shows another engagement structure 137, the engagement structure 137 having a back plate 138, the back plate 138 having a plurality of apertures 139 therein for securing the back plate 138 to a wall surface. The engagement structure 137 also includes a lower orthogonal component 140, the lower component 140 having an attachment rail 141 extending therealong. In this way, the glove donning apparatus 101 can be mounted to a wall surface using the engagement structure 137.
The apparatus 100 may also include a glove disengaging device 142. Referring to fig. 12, detachment apparatus 142 may include a closed-ended cylindrical barrel 143 with an opening 145 defined in barrel 143. Barrel 143 may further include a belt clamp 144 for attachment to belt 128. The detachment device 142 may be worn on the belt 128 adjacent to the glove donning device 101 to collect discarded gloves 109.
The mouth 145 of barrel 143 may also include a release collar 146 that includes an inner annular arrangement of inwardly directed fasteners 147 as shown in fig. 13. Each fastener 147 may be a rubber material that is oriented inwardly and away from the opening 145.
Referring to fig. 12, detachment apparatus 142 may include an insert 148, insert 148 being inserted into barrel 143 and including a detachment collar 146.
Thus, in the manner shown in fig. 14, a glove-donned hand may be inserted into the release device 142, and the fastener 147 of the release collar 146 deflected to receive the hand in the manner shown in fig. 15.
When the hand is pulled from the disengagement apparatus 142, the fasteners 147 clasp the glove 109 to pull the glove from the hand.
Detachment apparatus 142 may include a germicidal light source 147, which germicidal light source 147 may take the form of annular light below detachment collar 146 that illuminates the interior of barrel 143 to sterilize the contents therein. Insert 148 may include a handle 149, handle 149 including a battery power supply and control circuitry for germicidal light source 147. The control circuitry may be configured to detect insertion of a hand into barrel 143 (e.g., by including a beam break) and thereby subsequently operate germicidal light source 147 for a period of time.

Claims (24)

1. A glove donning apparatus, the glove donning apparatus having:
a body having spaced apart sides defining a hand-receiving void therebetween, the sides defining an open insertion top and an open removal side;
a glove box retainer opposing the removal side;
a glove box comprising a plurality of disposable gloves packaged therein, the gloves releasably engaged together at their wrists, each glove comprising a pair of fastening tabs on either side of its opening, the tabs being aligned when the gloves are stacked within the box;
a glove guide rail along the open insertion top, the rail having an insertion end directed toward the glove box retainer such that when the glove box is inserted into the glove box retainer, the insertion end of the rail passes through the aligned fastening tabs thereof such that in use;
a glove may be pulled from the glove box onto and along the track, wherein the track expands to pull its fastening tab apart, thereby opening its opening for insertion of the hand therein;
a hand may be inserted into the opening of the glove via the open insertion top; and the glove may be pulled laterally from the open removal side, wherein the glove pulls an adjacent glove along the track, and wherein the glove is disconnected from the adjacent glove.
2. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the glove box includes a glove tab retainer including a pair of cylindrical hooks extending from sides thereof, and wherein the insertion ends of the rails are respectively inserted into the cylindrical hooks.
3. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the glove tab retainer comprises a clip that clips onto an engagement formation within the box retainer.
4. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the box retainer is slidable from the body to expose the engagement formation of the glove tab retainer, and the insertion end of the track is aligned with the cylindrical hook of the glove tab retainer when the box retainer is slid into the body.
5. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein each track comprises a glove position retention fold bar.
6. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a first glove comprises a pull tab for pulling the first glove onto the track.
7. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein adjacent gloves are brought together by pulled-apart wrist tabs.
8. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 7, wherein a wrist tab includes an adhesive surface for adhering to an adjacent wrist tab and being operable to tighten the wrist of the glove when donned.
9. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein adjacent disposable gloves are packaged into the same hand.
10. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein adjacent disposable gloves are packaged as opposing hands.
11. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the glove box includes a viewing window through which the extent of glove remaining can be intuitively determined.
12. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the glove box retainer is slidably separable from the body by opposing push tabs.
13. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the glove box retainer further comprises a safety latch that cooperates with the opposing push tab to secure the glove box retainer.
14. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the glove donning apparatus comprises a belt clamp.
15. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the glove donning apparatus further comprises an attachment groove for slidably engaging an attachment rail.
16. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 15, further comprising an engagement structure having a groove and a clamp for the engagement structure, and wherein the engagement structure comprises the attachment track along an upper surface thereof.
17. The glove donning apparatus according to claim 15, further comprising an engagement structure comprising a back plate for fastening to a wall surface and comprising an orthogonal lower component having an attachment track along it.
18. A glove stripping apparatus comprising a barrel including a stripping collar comprising an internal annular arrangement of inwardly directed fasteners oriented so as to be oriented in use to pull a glove from a hand inserted into the barrel.
19. The glove stripping apparatus as claimed in claim 18, in which the fastener is of rubber material.
20. The glove detachment apparatus of claim 18, wherein the detachment apparatus comprises an insert insertable into the barrel, the insert comprising a detachment collar.
21. The glove stripping apparatus as claimed in claim 18, further comprising a germicidal lamp within the barrel.
22. The glove detachment apparatus of claim 20, wherein the germicidal lamp is a ring-shaped lamp located below the detachment collar.
23. The glove stripping apparatus as claimed in claim 20, further comprising a control circuit which operates the germicidal lamp for a period of time upon detecting the insertion of a hand into the barrel.
24. The glove detachment apparatus of claim 22, wherein the control circuit is connected to a beam break to detect whether a hand is inserted into the barrel.
