发明领域
本发明涉及一种纸板的棉塞安放器的制造方法,该安放器的直径小于约25mm并有一个向外翻卷的手指把手。
发明背景
具有一对可伸缩圆筒的纸板棉塞安放器在本领域中是为大家所熟知的。例如,Wiegner等人的美国专利No.4,412,833、Beastall等人的美国专利No.5,087,239、Hinzmann的美国专利No.4,755,164、Huffman的美国专利No.4,573,964、Whitehead的美国专利No.4,508,531都讲述了这些安放器的不同方面。
无论是纸板的或是塑料的棉塞安放器,在其后部或手持端通常含有这样的表面特征,即在由安放器的对置端推出棉塞时,让使用者在不同程度上能牢固地抓住安放器。塑料安装器由于其制造上的性质而通常具有明显的手持端,而纸板安放器手持端的外形则受到较多的限制。例如,Wiegner等人讲述了一种带轻微凹槽的把手;Beastall等人讲述了在手持端具有一组环形的更明显的凹槽;Hinzmann公开了具有直径缩减的和表面凹槽的把手区;而Whitehead和Huffman都讲述了具有基本上直径缩减的手指把手区。在现有技术中所讲述的每一种手指把手在推出棉塞的过程中防止手指滑动的能力都是有限的。
纸板安放器因纸板安放器坯材在被把手成形过程破坏以前允许产生的变形量而受到限制。因此,在手指把手区通常仅只形成微微凸起的环或凹槽。
鉴于现有技术的缺点,需要有一种纸板的棉塞安放器,它具有提高了的棉塞安放器坯材的变形能力,从而提供更为明显的手指把手。
发明概述
本发明涉及一种在棉塞管手持端形成改进的手指把手的方法。此手持端具有向外卷起的边缘,其制造过程为:施加水分到直径小于约25mm的纸板管的手持端,将一个成形工具加热至约100°F到约350°F,在优选的约10至1000r/min的速度下相对于成形工具转动纸板管,以及使纸板管手持端与成形工具接触约0.2到约5秒。以这种方式,成形工具将纸板管手持端向外卷起,在纸板安放器管手持端的外侧形成一个圆弧形曲面。
纸板棉塞管无论是由螺旋缠绕纸和/或硬纸板层形成的连续管所制成,或是由相对呈矩形的纸板管坯材滚压而成,本发明都能很好地工作。再有,更加显著的手指把手允许在安放器管的表面上使用光滑的涂层。

发明详述
首先参照图1和图2,棉塞安放器10包括至少一个管子12,该管具有一个推出端14和一个手持端16。管12在其手持端16具有一个向外卷起的边缘18。在使用时,棉塞安放器10的筒体12通常被夹持在使用者的大拇指和中指之间,而冲杆20由使用者用食指操作。卷起来的边缘18在筒体12的端部形成一个凸缘,这在冲杆20被推入筒体12时,有助于防止筒体在使用者手指间滑脱。当然,冲杆20也可以用纸板管制成,同时在其手持端24也可有向外卷起的边缘22。
现在参照图4和图5A-5C,一个事先做好的直径小于约25mm的管子100被放置在一个套筒装置102中,该套筒将管子100稳定地固定就位,同时还提供一个挡板104,以保证其正确的座落深度。随后,夹持着管子100的套筒102被转动,在形成向外卷起的边缘的过程中,它至少要使管子100转动一圈。因此,如果形成卷起边缘的时间,即从管子与成形工具接触直到完全卷起边缘而无附加停顿时间约需1秒钟,则套筒装置102至少要以约60r/min的速度转动。在优选的安放器成形条件下,套筒装置102的转动速度为约10r/min到约1,000r/min,更优选的转动速度约为50r/min到500r/min,最优选的转动速度约为100r/min到380r/min。
水分106在手持端108的区域被施加在管子100上以助于软化翻卷区110的纤维,减少材料的破裂。水分106优选地在套筒102转动后被施加,但水分106也可在管子100在套筒102上转动之前被施加。水分106可以采用细雾状的水、蒸汽、水喷雾、浸入水池等。优选地将5到50mg的水分加到管子100的手持端108,以易于边缘的翻卷加工。施加到管子100上的水分更优选地约为10到30mg,最优选地约为10到20mg。
在套筒装置102中旋转的湿润的管子100随即与固定的成型工具112相接触(图5A-5C),套筒装置102向成形工具112移动的速度优选地约为2.5cm/sec(厘米/秒)到约11.5cm/sec。在一个特别优选的实施例中,套筒装置102以约6cm/sec的速度移向成形工具112。成形工具可以加热至约100°F到约350°F,优选地约为200°F到250°F,更优选地是约225°F。在管子100与成形工具112接触以后(图5B),套筒装置102继续向成形工具112移动,从而将管子100的足够长度的翻卷区110送入成形工具112,以便使管子100的手持边108向外翻卷,从而形成一个手指把手凸缘114。送入成形工具112中的管子100的准确量通常取决于卷起边缘114的半径,这是为普通的技术人员所公知的。当套筒装置102朝向成形工具112达到最大伸出量时(图5C),它可以维持约0.25到3秒钟以固定卷起的形状114。
在达到所需的成形时间后,套筒装置102由成形工具112缩回,而制成的管子100则从套筒装置102中推出。尽管本发明在这里仅就固定的成形工具112和放置管子100的可旋转且可移动的套筒装置102作了说明,但在其它组合的情况下,只要保持管子100和成形工具112之间的相对转动和移动,则本发明仍然是有效的。最后得到的卷起的边缘114可以具有约0.5到2mm的半径,优选的约为0.75到1.25mm,而最优选的约为1mm。
由相对于成形工具112转动管子100而产生的摩擦热以及所施加的热量势必会驱除在卷起工艺中所加的水分106。此外,加热步骤也可使卷起的形状114稳定。最后,它有助于去除所有施加的水分106,以便减少在安放器管子滋生不希望有的微生物的可能性。微生物的滋生对棉塞安放器的使用者的健康是有害的。
成形工具112在翻卷管子边缘108的位置优选地具有低摩擦的表面。该表面可以是高度抛光的表面,如不锈钢、特氟隆涂层表面和优选的特氟隆涂层的不锈钢表面。设置了附加的润滑,例如蜡和其它熟知的润滑剂,这种润滑也可改善翻卷边缘的过程。
在一个特别优选的实施例中,一个硬纸板筒体和冲杆是由在硬纸板层202上叠压一个蜡纸层200制成的,以此作为厚度约为0.3到0.4mm的安放器坯材204。然后。筒体和冲杆便可制成为一个具有蜡质外表面和纵向接缝的管子,例如在欧洲专利EP-A-0 581 136或美国专利No.4,755,164中所叙述的,其公开的内容在此引入作为参考。自然,本发明也可使用螺旋形缠绕的管子。筒体和冲杆分别被做成具有内径为14.5mm和13mm的管子。通常冲杆具有较筒体更小的直径,以便将其装入筒体之中。我们发现,可以在内径小于约25mm、优选地小于约10到20mm、最优选的小于约11到18mm的管子上成形向外卷起的边缘。筒体管和冲杆管的手持端均可按照本发明进行翻卷,最后制成如图1所示的棉塞安放器,其中一个棉塞拭子被放入筒体之中。

Claims (21)

1.一种在纸板棉塞安放器管的手持端形成一个向外卷起的边缘的方法,该方法包括下述步骤:
-施加水分到直径小于约25mm纸板管的手持端;
-将一个成形工具加热至约100°F到约350°F;
-相对于成形工具转动纸板管,使管子在卷起边缘成形的过程中至少旋转一圈;
-使纸板管手持端与成形工具接触约0.2到约5秒;于是,成形工具将纸板管手持端向外卷起,在纸板安放器管手持端的外侧形成一个圆弧形曲面。
2.一种根据权利要求1所说的方法,其特征在于,向纸板管手持端施加水分的步骤包括施加一种水溶液的喷雾。
